Wow! The only demos I've ever skipped downloading are the sports ones but damn Conan sounds fucking terrible.

4 hours later: My R&C download is at 51%. 55kbps :(

This is depressing.

Mine finally reach 92%, dude, i being this much longer than you :lol :(

Oh my :lol Don't play Conan after Ratchet. Don't do it. It will hurt Conan's sales.
:lol Thats what I'm gonna do Rachet's downloading now then I'm gonna play Conan after it's done.

Can't wait! 25% and counting the wi-fi on the ps3 amazes me. My pc with it's pci wireless card is definitely not as fast.

I didn't read through the whole thread, is the Ratchet demo different from the one that was given out at EB?

If it's anything like the 360 demo, it doesn't matter what you play before it. One of the worst games I've ever played, the company behind it should be embarassed and hide, not show off this title. This demo can do nothing but hurt sales.

....oh, IGN.

Why don't they sack up and give some kind of opinion instead of some wishy washy "well, kinda maybe it might be good if you're into that sorta thing maybe, I guess"

Either the reviewer liked it or he didn't. Geezus titty fucking criminy IGN is FUCKING WORTHLESS!

After seeing this for the fourth time, I updated the OP to note that it is a newer optimized build.

Hehe, I adore Ratchet but there's still some room for Conan. It's totally different play style. Visuals aren't anything special but the combat system is decent enough for some mindless button-mashing. Shame to hear talents like Ron Perlman and Claudia Black (that is them, isn't it?) delivering lines so flatly though.

About Everyday Shooter...if you're not into the whole synethaesia thing, does it offer any standout action from the likes of SSHD or GeoWars?

Jesus my Ratchet demo is done already 1 1/2 gigs in about a half hour more or less. The wi-fi is way better than I thought.

I was wired in for a while but now I have to use wi-fi and it's just as fast. I haven't lagged that much in Resistance either. Awesomeness

I don't understand any of IGN's (Ryan Clements') complaints at all. It's almost as if they were actively looking for something bad to day.

Sluggish controls and the points are hard to get? I was under the impression that those were very deliberate game mechanics. You ARE slow, and you'll have to decide which points you're going for. It's much more strategic that way.

And the "music control" stuff is nit-picking. From what I can remember of Rez, the way you interact with the music is virtually the same.

Yes and no. It's not as fast-paced as either of those games, but that doesn't mean you won't face situations with tons of enemies/bullets on screen at one time.

Wow Conan sucks. Hard. Probably the worst combat system since GoW. Not to mention that Conan without Shwarzenegger doesn't feel like Conan at all.
The game sucks, but so does your understanding of Conan. Schwarzenegger is not the standard by which all things Conan should be judged. Of course the game didn't really feel like Robert E. Howard's Conan either...

Yep and its sucks badly I played it before Ratchet and dammit Generic as a mofo really bad graphics I really don't know why I kept playing it. Ratchet on the other hand pure win all the way, played the demo 4 time straight freaking awesome Day 1 purchase confirmed for me but I was going to buy day 1 even if I didn't play the demo.

When you first pick up the controller and start moving Conan around, you'll convince yourself that it could be fun.

And then the fighting starts.

Everyday Shooter is awesome, I keep getting distracted by the graphics/music and end up dying though So much fun.

Ratchet was a blast, really good graphics and solid gameplay.

Conan is totally... Average, IMO.

R&C - Holy shit what a demo. Not only it's a joy to play but this kind of graphics at 60FPS - Insomniac guys are geniuses. Comparisons to cartoon CG are for once not entirely unwarranted. If there was ever any doubt about their capability to create amazing graphics (and I did have it, I admit), this just erases it once and for all. Humor and story even from this relatively short demo also seems to already be notably better than in their previous games, as is the overall production quality.

Everyday shooter is really as good as everyone was making it out to be. Very captivating little game, with a very unique charm, great style and awesome music. My only complaint is that you can only shoot at 45 degree angles, which almost makes it easier to use face buttons to shoot instead of right stick. Weird design choice I must say, but it doesn't end up hurting the game.

Downloading Everyday Shooter right now!

PS: Did you guys know that the creator of this game signed an exclusive agreement with Sony for PSN titles. So there is more (hopefully) in this style to come.

Conan is really pretty damn average all around. I'm honestly a bit dishearted that anyone could think this should even be compared to HS :\ Combat, which is probably the only slightly above-average part on the game is not bad but it's not really that satisfying either. Seriosouly, after seeing how enemies react to your hits in HS, this kind of canned hit animations is just not cutting it anymore. Conan's own animations are pretty terrible for the most part (I did quite like the jump/pullup to platform above animation though) and camera is quite bad and unpolished. Cutscenes and voice overs are really horrible, graphics fail to impress pretty much all around - I really do think that if GoW2 was rendering in 720p and with no other improvements, it would look by far more impressive than this - hands down. Hell, it's more impressive looking as it is, and so much more polished...

Still, it's stupid fun, and I did enjoy playing it somewhat. I want to see the bosses, I want to rip ribcages, I want to set slave girls free. I'll rent it for sure, who knows maybe even buy it, if the reviews and impressions of full version are not bad.

You know what, I actually thought the game would be uber-terrible from that intro animation and from just moving around. I think his running animation is really, really bad, and so is the camera that follows him. Combat actually improved my opinion of the game somewhat, even though it does feel clunky and unresponsive at times.

Did anyone else's Fallout trailer seem to really chug? :-( I was disappointed.
Not at all, seemed nice and smooth to me. That's an in-engine trailer it seems too. It's interesting, when the camera pulls away, the whole scene reminded me of that KZ2 demo level a bit, even the engine (that I think is their game engine?) which they used for this trailer seems somewhat similar, but not as impressive.

Firmware 2.00 releasing on October 30th (R&C release date):

http://www.us.playstation.com/suppo...TTR=PSU_PSNPrivPol_W001_PS3_DRJ_001_Agree13_T

First time since they've updated the terms of service since last year. Reading the red parts (which is new additions), it seems geared for Home and such with aged material/areas, uploading of stuff...etc.

I'm not quite sure I follow... I don't see anything about firmware 2.0 in that. Unless you're saying this updated TOS hints at it.

Bloody fucking christ this Conan game is horrid, and has seriously the worst voice acting that I have heard in some time and while I like that they went for the Frazetta look with the art it is really bad.

Just installed the Ratchet demo, thought I was in for a long wait after hearing how long it takes to install so I grabbed my cell and activated the stop watch. It only took 4min 1sec :lol.

Conan has some wicked kill moves. The slo mo moments are a nice touch. Did a piledriver, and chuck a dude into the air and slice him. GoW3 will be awesome.

I just found that last part hysterical. When you play Conan all you think about is God of War 3.

Well, as PSN users you would have to agree to it to use PSN so they will have to include this with a firmware update. Instead of calling it Agreement 1.1 they go for 2.00 and combine that with other rumors lately.. I would say this is a 99% indication it will release on October 30th or shortly after.

As a random note, Nihilist (or however you spell it) was the original developer of StarCraft: Ghost before they stopped part way through development to pursue another contractual agreement which was Conan, apparently.

Random factoid.

So ummm yea just played the Ratchet demo and didn't have one bit of fun with it. Sure it looked pretty but like Genji it wasn't fun for me to play. Back to Folklore and Everyday Shooter.

=/

Seriously saying ratchet isn't fun is just like saying sex isn't fun.

I notice in the intro movie for the R&C demo it looks like theres motion blur for gameplay segments. Looked better in those clips to me. But it was at 30fps I think. It has that Resistance look to it, everything kind of soft looking.

Hmm. I was given solid info that 2.00 would release a bit before then, but hey, things can slip I suppose.

You may still be correct. The "version 2.0" I think is referring to the online user agreement itself and has nothing to do with or says nothing about firmware 2.0 Check the link
