The main selling point of the so-called "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus" will be Force Touch, the pressure-sensitive display technology built into Apple Watch and new MacBook trackpads. Other predicted features for Apple's next iPhone, many of which have already been rumored, include an A9 processor with 2GB of RAM, improved 12-megapixel camera, a new Rose Gold color option, possible sapphire cover lenses and more.

Sounding good to me. The rumoured iPhone 6S & 6S Plus. And coupled with iOS 9 which is supposed to be focused on bug fixes and smoothness. We have another hit on our hands.
 
If they'll sell it with a 5s or 4s form factor I'll take a look....otherwise sticking with the 5s which, although ungainly, is still just about acceptable size-wise
 
That RAM desperately desperately needs to be upgraded. Apple needs to stop gimping out on this stuff.

So what would be the advantages for Force Touch?

Same. Unless Apple sorts that bezel shit out, I have no interest in 4.5+ inch screens.
 
The ram definitely is a problem on my 6+. Don't know if I'd upgrade early just for that that and a better camera though... Think I'll hold off till the 7.
 
I'll be happy to have these features and more when I upgrade to the 7 (Plus). Bring on Force Touch, bring on more RAM. Actually just make the RAM in my phone work and I'll be happy.
 
Glad I waited. Still on 4S. Please don't feel cheap as fuck like the iPhone 6.

Is this to be expected in September as usual?

But that sounds like you can do that nowadays.
 
A RAM upgrade will sell me on it instantly.

I'm so done with switching out of Safari for a second, going back and having to reload the tab. Especially annoying if you're filling out a form or something.

He means the ability to have the OS differentiate between soft and hard presses on the screen. Tap-and-hold is generally considered a janky UI implementation among designers.
 
VR is the killer feature for me right now... Which Apple won't offer in the next time. This rumored stuff is hardly exciting honestly.
 
Force-touch is pressure sensitive. It's not "long-press" functionality. Possible uses are things like speeding up fast-forward or rewind when listening to a podcast depending on how hard you press or more interesting drawing applications.

Also, the RAM situation is ridiculous they could only justify it on the cost of LPDDR4 but even then, they just need more.
 
I've had an iPhone 5 and was going to upgrade to the 6, but I may as well wait. The phone still works. The only real drawback is that the camera lens has schmutz on it that fouls up most pics.
 
So with Force Touch, you could do some better things with drawing on the iPhone. With an accurate bluetooth stylus, it has the potential to be Wacom caliber.

Interesting. It'd probably work best on the 6s Plus.

Most Styli really suck, though, so it's not there yet.

Ming-Chi Kuo is usually pretty accurate. Apple could always drop a piece at the last minute, but i'd expect that to be pretty close to what we'll see in September.

Yes, would be much better for writing/drawing. Rumor is that Apple will launch a stylus along with the larger iPad later this year.

I think you're just thinking of a long press on Android, which doesn't measure how hard you press something but how long you hold that button/pressure point down (current iPhones have this as well, as well as pretty much every touch phone ever). It's different than that and, at least on the new MacBook, measures the amount of force used on a click to do something different than a standard click. As far as I know, no Android phones (or Windows) have any sort of pressure sensitivity, though, neither do any iPhones either.

On the MacBook it works very well, though isn't entirely useful until apps build in functionality with it.
 
I'll upgrade from the 6+ either way because I'm stuck with the gimpy 16GB model and I like being on the S-end of the cycle more anyway.

lol no.

Maybe decent enough compared to the current hack, but never 2048 levels like Wacom. The pen works differently on the implementations.


Also, finally, more than 1GB which is low end everywhere else.
