I just brought the Disgaea 5 Season Pass on the PS Store via PC, and I turned on my PS4 to see if I needed to download anything.

But, when I entered the PS4 Main Menu, I'm greeted with this:

If I press the download button, it just takes me to the Store Page for me to buy it.
Seems like I can delete it from the list, at least.

I'm confused. What happened?

It's not advertisement, these people have "Download featured content automatically" turned on and it pops the icon once there of course.
I see no problem here, or if there's problem it's peoples settings.

I wonder how effective that way of advertising actually is for Sony. Can't imagine many people go and buy Destiny on PSN after a bait and switch like that

Yes, if Destiny were free for every PS4 owner this would be the same as Netflix recommendations.

I still consider it a type of advertisement but yes, you opted in when first set up your PS4. You selected "Featured Content" in the initial setup. You can turn it off though.

I think they've only done it one other time that I noticed it. You can download the demo from the link which is the full game with a level cap. You have to pay to release the cap it.

For me personally, its a waste but I could see it working for more casual people(that don't know what is releasing) if they already knew what the featured content thig was.

It is a feature but problem is it was never used for nearly two years and now it shows up suddenly, most players would not even know or remember that setting in the first place.

So, off-topic but if I download the demo again, will I notice the changes they made to the game or is it mostly higher level stuff?

Press the options button and delete. Turn it off if you don't want anything to show up again. It's under automatic downloads in system settings. "Featured Content"

They should be advertising Until Dawn.

The only reason they are advertising this game is because it helps Sony sell those PS+ subs.

I'm beginning to think the publishers are in collusion with S/MS, and that's why we are seeing more of these MP only games (no SP).
