Black Ops 2 has 12m MAU (3 Years Old Game)

"an unprecedented level for a game that is three years old and only available on old-generation consoles."

Ahem. Not that i know if the PC version contributes notably to this figure but factually that statement is incorrect.

How many more three year old games only available on older generation consoles have greater than 13 million active users, and what are the names of those games? Or are you saying he is lying about the figure?

Call of Duty is not relevant on PC, they're all playing Counter-Strike.

Treyach makes good games. Interesting campaign, full multiplayer content. I am sure BO3 will be pretty good.

Because there's a PC/"current-gen" version. Which is what he's getting at but I disagree. PC version is still a "last-gen" release. Just with better Backwards Compatibility with this "new generation"/time.

It's still in the top games. 6,694 is the peak number of players at any one time for today, so it could contribute to that number a good bit. Biggest % would be 360 though I would assume.

According to Steam Spy, not that much:

Maybe 10% of the MAUs are on PC?

he's saying there's still an active player base on PC, which is true (albeit small)

in which case it is easy enough to argue that LoL should be eligible, which has 6x the monthly users

How is it incorrect? PC would only contribute like 1.5% (Just a random number I pulled out but it ain't huge) to the total number anyways.

It's probably the perfect formula of CoD gameplay, general map design, and mechanics, so I'm not surprised. Masterpiece as far as multiplayer is concerned.

Never been a fan of the Modern (of Futuristic) Warfare series, but I loved Black Ops 1 and the flashbacks from Black Ops 2.

They should go back.

I played mostly zombies mode in Black Ops II with friends, and it's something I'm looking the most forward too in Black Ops III. The amount of detail they put into BOII was simply amazing. From the day I ended up getting the max rank in zombies, which was the shotguns, and completely stopped. That was my only goal to accomplish.

Well deserved.

Was the best CoD MP Experience I had ever.

I doubt Blops3 can dethrone it as my favorite, but I'm optimistic.

Not gonna lie, when reading the title, I thought that 12m MAU was some type of gun or something.

The use of acronyms now-a-days is getting a little out of control.

Black Ops 2 was damn good, so the sales are well deserved. I much prefer Treyarch's titles in the series compared to Infinity Ward's, the only exception being COD4. I have a feeling BO3 will surpass sales of both titles, though.

That doesn't include the multiplayer, which adds another* ~240K to the 2 week total.

*Assuming a best case scenario of no cross over between those who are playing the multiplayer, and those who are playing the campaign/zombies.

The very best case for the PC version will be 500K MAU, best case for the Wii U version is maybe 150K, judging by 1400+ peak on a weekday? So we're looking at over 11 million between the PS3 and 360 versions. Excellent numbers for them.

Damn, the game must be amazing. Of the new Call of Duty games I have MW3 so it sounds I should buy BO1 and 2 later down the road to catch up (I have BO3 on pre-oreder already).

When the average player count on the PS3 ALONE at almost any given point is 150k+k....PC CoD is nearly irrelevant. The game is fucking massive on consoles with probably half a mil on consoles at any given point.....during peak hours.....it goes insane. I've seen almost 300k on a monday night last month....its utterly stupid how big 3 could possibly be for next gen hardware sales.

This is on last gen only and with a 3 year old game....again insanely huge numbers.

Would be cool for Black Ops 3 to feature two separate eras for multiplayer. One which takes place during the Cold War or before, and the other which is the future or present setting. Weapons and equipment all different for each era.

But this would be a lot of work, I think. lol
