Black Ops 2 has 12m MAU (3 Years Old Game)

If I understand the term Monthly Active User correctly, what this means is that about 330,000 people play this game each day during the month - adding up to 10 million?

oops, it was 12 million MAU so 400,000 DAU.

12 milion different accounts mate.

i still remember when people doubt on Treyarch.

That was just hype for MW2 after MW1. IW was the savior and Treyarch was the overshadowed step brother who could not compete.

How times have changed in general

I'm not saying any game had perfect balance, but BO2 had by far the best weapon balance of any CoD, with CoD4 at a close second. Literally the only guns that would significantly worsen a player's K/D were the executioner, the type 25, and the SWAT. For CoD4 using an M16 would improve K/D while using a shotgun or the Mini-Uzi would worsen K/D and other than that K/D wouldn't alter significantly based on weapon used.

I'd have enjoyed MW3 more if it weren't for the atrocious maps (with literally the worst spawns of any CoD title to date) and the bad programming.

As an abuser of those bad spawns, that may have been why I enjoyed MW3 so much! Could rack up some massive killfeeds being the asshole quickscoper I was. :L

The Wii U CoD base may be small but it has a dedicated group of players. Black Ops 2 is also the best online FPS multiplayer game for the system, so there's also that.

I agree with this. Too bad i didn't played Advanced Warfare on Wii U, it was so cool. :(
And the same with BO III, i need to play this on PS4. :-/

Well, i'm happy overall, because next year i will finally back to play COD on Nintendo console thanks NX haha!

I've never actually played Black Ops 2. Is it worth going back to?
I've played every other game in the series.
It's the best CoD to date since at least CoD4 and in some ways is better than CoD4. If you enjoy a game that doesn't punish you for using weapons that aren't the most popular, I say get it on sale. It's much better than AW, Ghosts, MW3, BO1, and WaW and slightly better than MW2 and CoD4.

You seem pretty well versed in all of the Cod games :L. What in your opinion are some of the best designed maps in the series? Do you favor the three lane map structure which seems to be the main direction with Blops3? I personally believe the best designed map which works perfectly with the mechanics of that game is Crash from Cod4.

Easily. Do yourself a favor and go in as blind as you can on the SP and see what ending you can get, it's very interesting.

Cool, any major issues with the PC version that I should know about?

Not sure what I consider the best map, I just know I hate any maps that suffer from ridiculous spawn trapping or bad spawns in general.

Only big thing to be wary of is that due to the smaller playerbase (compared to consoles), you are better off not getting DLC as it will hamper your ability to find lobbies.

I still think to this date that Black Ops 2 did choices in a very interesting manner that is not seen in games these days, eventhough there weren't a whole load of them. Like I won't even realise I had a choice in matters until much later, it's so subtle and completely goes against what people usually expect from games choices.

Black Ops 2 is way better than the past two cods, so no surprise there. I've been playing it a bit lately in anticipation of Black Ops 3.

There are 83,000 people online right now on the PS3 alone.

The same number as every Battlefield 4 platform combined.

The hype is pretty intense.

BO1 has to be by far the most overrated CoD with regards to multiplayer. I get that the maps were decent and the only big issues with the perks were Ghost and Second Chance, but my god is the weapon balance atrocious. Game punishes you too much for not using an AR or the 74u.
BO1 blows 2 away in terms of multiplayer. BO2 maps are nowhere near as good as BO1. There are so many guns that you can use and still be able to get great scores. Treyarch pretty much made almost every weapon overpowered and it worked. The killstreaks were also awesome (blackbird, chopper, dogs is the best set up in any CoD).

What you are describing is MW2, not BO1. In black ops 1, every gun that wasn't an AR or the 74u was useless. You had LMGs with literally AR sized ammo capacity when half the reason of using an LMG is for the large magazine. You had shotguns with both super low ammo capacity and long reloads as well as low damage that didn't kill consistently faster than ARs that were 3HKs at 720 or 900 RPM. Every SMG besides the AK74 and MP5k was too low damage to be usable and half of them didn't even have a decent sized ammo capacity. Every handgun that wasn't the CZ or the Python was literally just a worse version of the CZ. There was no reason to use the MP5k over the 74u because the MP5k functioned as a 74u with higher, less predictable recoil. There was no reason to use the Einfield because it was just a Famas with 2/3rds the ammo capacity. And snipers were useless when ARs were better at all ranges, including long range.

Meanwhile with BO2, nearly every gun was useful, with the exception of the SWAT, the executioner, and maybe the Type 25. Shotguns had decent magazine size and were dominant in close range as they should be. LMGs were great defensive weapons. Snipers were great at long range and usable at midrange (although the hipfire aim assist only encouraged more quickscoping). Every SMG and nearly every AR was perfectly usable. And the secondaries weren't completely useless (except for the executioner).

Which game, BO1 or BO2, had better maps doesn't matter too much because BO2's maps worked fine and in the end having the best maps doesn't mean much when you have atrocious weapon balance that discourages actual weapon variety. BO1 wasn't the worst CoD ever, but it is severely overrated. Only area that BO1 did decently that BO2 didn't do decently was perk balance.

Nice numbers for a 3 year old game. If treyarch can win back the PC crowd, they could get COD back onto the most shooters on PC. Course, it's going to be near impossible for it to dethrone CS:GO nowadays. Hopefully they learn from CS and give much needed post launch support.

CS Go is the Pc King, always has been.
