And even though they're not really headphones, I just ordered some Altec lansing IM716s for $70 from amazon. Haven't gotten them yet since the order is being held up by the micro sd card I bought with them. I heard they're based on the etymotic e4 (forgot exact model), are way cheaper and are liked better.

Headphones are bad for your ears.
I only use headphones when I am travelling. I used to use them on the train to work and now I generally only use them when I am flying. I generally use ghetto 30 dollar Sony headphones that are not fit to be in the same thread with most of the headphones already posted.

Have you seen/heard the GS-1000's yet.... damn sexy set of headphones they are. I'm currently saving up for a pair. I love the sound from my RS-1's though and i highly doubt they'll be fully replaced by the GS-1000's. More of a side-grade than a upgrade... I hope.

No, I have not heard them yet. My next upgrade next year is RS1s and AD2000s. As for the GS1K being a huge upgrade...I would not count on it. I have heard from many that there is a place for both (if you can afford both), and some actually prefer the RS1 over the GS1K.

A cheapy pair of grados. SR-60s are like 60 bucks. 80s can be had for around 85 or so.
Sennheiser HD555s are right at 100 bucks.

I just recently upgraded from SR-60 to SR-80's. Goddamn these are a sweet set of cans. One of the best investments I've ever made. 
Although I heard they sound much better with an amp which I intend aquire in the near future.
Can anyone recommend a good headphone amp? or how bout those DIY ones, are they any good/hard to make?
Right now for my PC I'm running the headphones through an MD player with the bass setting at 1. Sounds a bit better imo, but maybe not as "pure". I have an M-audio rev7.1 soundcard and the audio output on it is a little weak for the SR-80's.

AKG K81-DJs. Great little cans that I haven't used as much as I'd like lately. They're ugly, but have got a nice kick to them and sound great for the price.
Sennheiser PX-100 My work headphones. Probably the quintessential awesome-sounding budget 'phones. Plenty have already said what makes these great.
Audio Technica ATH-A700 My PC headphones. Audio Technica always makes great looking cans, they're also quite comfortable. I use these on my PC mainly because they have a pretty impressive soundstage.
Sennheiser HD-580 Ah, my babies. Easily my favorite of all my headphones. I use them with music, movies, gaming, you name it. With a good source and enough relaxation, you almost forget the headphones are there.

For that price you can get the Koss KSC-75 which blow those outta the water, they can even compare to the P100X. These are simply the best budget cans. I use those along with the HD-280 pro and currently looking into the getting those AKG DJK81

Pretty freaking uncomfortable, but i've modified them a bit so that they are a bit more bareable, Nice sounding though.
