Pardon me while I fanboy out for a couple of minutes...
I can't be the only one who has noticed how remarkably stellar Bamco has been over the past few years. They're quickly becoming one of the jewels of the industry in my honest opinion. Let's recap what they've been up to.
Bamco develops, funds, and publishes a ton of licensed games based on beloved anime franchises like Dragon Ball and One Piece. Licensed titles have a long history of being notoriously poor, low-budget, and rushed... But not Bamco's. Thanks to them we have gotten to enjoy legitimately fun games that are loaded with fan service like Dragon Ball Xenoverse, One Piece Pirate Warriors, J-Stars, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, and Sword Art Online. They may not be GOTY contenders, but they're consistently solid titles that can please franchise fans and maybe win over outsiders.
They also have been localizing a lot of highly requested titles. Remember when a Tales localization was a borderline miracle? That's not an issue anymore. Bamco has also shown that they listen to the marketplace and fans as demonstrated by the recent localization of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth to much fanfare in the west. We're also getting God Eater and a freaking Gundam Vs. game in the west.
I've heard the quality of PC ports is hit or miss, but at least Bamco consistently releases their more notable games like Dragon Ball on Steam. It's a massive potential market that they seem to have won over.
Bamco also publishes the Souls series. I mean, what else needs to be said? It's hands down one of the best franchises in the industry and is loved by millions. They have also published other standout titles like Project Cars.
They also have what's in my opinion one of the more impressive slates of upcoming releases, especially from a Japanese company:
Rumors have also been swirling that a new Soul Caliber is on the horizon.
Their games may not be for you, but when you take a step back and look at Bandai Namco's body of work recently, I think it's pretty hard to argue they're doing some pretty great stuff.
