I didn't like this game on the Vita. Ugly as sin, few plus reskinned enemies, mediocre dungeon design and an awful skill system. Story seemed OK but I couldn't finish it and I also hear it has a non-ending with sequel bait.

It's not a very good game. Repetitive dungeons with few enemy types (and countless color swaps), annoying battle systems, unresolved story and pretty tropey overall. It's also rather ugly and has some terrible sound design.
The official character art is pretty damn good, but the ingame character portrays for the story sequences, which were done by a different artist, are mediocre.
In short, if you#re going to buy it go in with very low expectations.

Something tells me Aksys first tries with Steam will not go too well. They decided to bring this and Xblaze Code: Embryo.

I have a feeling they're not much involved in the actual ports of the games and just function as the publisher because of their relationship with the devs. Acquires port of Akiba's Trip was completely their own thing as well.

Might be wrong though

Maybe, JUST MAYBE this is their first crack at publishing and porting something over to steam since the licensing is cheap or something, rather than expecting big numbers they just want to put stuff out now, get some numbers maybe, and use the learned skills and whatnot for the future.

This isn't me being too optimistic about why they chose to do it right?

I liked it better than I expected after seeing the general response to it. Go into it thinking Persona 1 instead of Persona 4. Depending on the price, it might be worth it for people who like 1st person dungeon crawlers.

Oh good god are those who I think they are?

Pretty much. It's hilariously shameless about stealing stuff from Persona 4. That being said, it's only on the plot side. It's nothing like persona in combat and doesn't have Persona 3+4's sim aspects.

The combat has interesting ideas in it, but the game needed a lot more budget love.

This game had potential to be great, even if most of it's story is copied from Persona.

But, it's a bland DRPG. The story isn't good. The battle system isn't enough to keep someone interested.

If anything, it's a by the book game and you can find something much better to sink 40 hours (like Trails in the Sky).

I can't believe this is still happening after the greenlight just kind of died.

I hope it sells a fair amount just to surprise the original devs and show that more games should be ported to Steam.

Unless it's priced at 10 dollars or less, it wont get beyond 5k of sales. The game is known for being bad and low budget. And its released 2 years later.

I didn't make it very far before getting bored and stopping. I should probably give it another chance at some point though, everything seemed like it had potential.

Acquire is the one porting the game, not Aksys. Don't blame Aksys for having the original publisher wanting to release more games on Steam.

Does Aksys have any real control over anything interesting? As others have said, seems to be out of their control, either because other publishers want to move it forward, or developers/publishers that are just going to publish games themselves without their involvement.

Like Spike Chunsoft published Danganronpa themselves so I imagine things like Zero Escape would be under their perview rather than Aksys.

Arc Sys fighting games make Aksys a lot of money.

Yeah but they don't port them to Steam, typically they are self published on PC and Aksys is uninvolved. I was asking if they have actual control over anything notable (as in, it couldn't go ahead without their approval).

Oh, you were talking about Steam. Aksys is an independent company, all their games are from other companies, meaning that if they chose to publish those games on Steam directly, Aksys would be MIA.

Did they choose the worst games in the catalog? I tried Xblaze demo and it was simply terrible. Doesn't Mind Zero end on a big cliffhanger?
