This game came out after Sonic Advance, but I'm covering it last as....I wanted to cover a few Sonic Team IP. Why

? Because a lot of them appear in this game

!

NiGHTS and Samba De Amigo get their own Pinball Tables while Burning Rangers, Chu Chu Rocket and Phantasy Star Online get a few tracks. This is less of a Sonic title but more so a celebration of Sonic Team.

So, lets have a spinball party

The core gameplay is simple pinball. Its not like Spinball where Sonic works like how he did in Sonic 2's Casino Night Zone; you are just playing normal pinball.

What makes this fun is that each table has gimmicks based on the three series that they cover.

Sonic's table has different themes inspired by Sonic Advance, NiGHTS is focused on maintaining points and the Samba De Amigo board has a few gimmicks of its own. They are all really fun to play on and the different music tracks on each one rock.

The game also has a story mode where Sonic is in a pinball championship held by Eggman in Casinopolis and its very simple plot wise. You have to complete a challenge characters give you and then you can move on to the next section.

You also have the Tiny Chao Guardian like in Advance 1 & Advance 2 alongside having access to the NiGHTS/Samba boards in normal play.

A decent amount of content for a pinball title I say

I'm sorry this is a short OP but not much to talk about Pinball when you aren't an avid gamer in this genre :l. I really enjoyed my time with this and when you get into the game, you will have a great time

!

Now.....we have to talk about something; the Edge.

Oh boy, the Edge is coming and with the help of NeoGaf Member Village......we are tackling one of the worst games in the series; Shadow the Hedgehog.

We are NOT playing for the 200+ pathways X(.

Yea good idea, never tried pinball party but I did have the sonic spinball game and did not like that game at all

Like I said in the Spinball thread, pick the 'Fast' option under speed in the option menu. Once you select that, the controls should feel a bit better

Need to try this one out, seems fun.

Your next game is......oh no.

The game I refuse to 100% again even if I was payed to do so.....the worst sonic game IMHO. I wish you luck with that OP.

Liked the character, hated the game and the too edgy/try hard story.

. I can't wait to tear that trainwreck apart and with Village helping out.....it should be a grand old time XD!

Regarding Pinball Party, its a game I'm surprised Sega never brought on the Wii U VC yet :l. Its a great little pinball game and it would be cool to see more Sonic Team IP shown off again

Edit: Sonic Genesis is the one that I feel will be the one I'm the most harsh on for this retrospective as.....I never played it before and I'm very interested in seeing how someone can do the very hard task of f***ing up Sonic 1, the most ported game of all time.

Sonic Chronicles I want to be harsh on but Genesis might be the one I'm honestly angry over.

I never brought this game as I just glossed it over as a pinball game starring Sonic, but seems like I missed out since the game had good music.

Here's hoping that they release this on the Wii U virtual console.

Maybe they will put this and Battle up once they have the Advance trilogy on the JP Wii U E-Shop

.

Then they can bring all five games over to the EU/NA E-Shop

Strangely enough I believe this was exclusive to Target in the US, which is why I never got to play it. (Targets didn't pop up in my area until the late 2000s.)

Never heard of this game before but the only Sonic games I played were the Advance ones.
That BrainScratch playthrough of Genesis is GOAT, one of my favorites done by them.

I also had the unfortunate experience playing Genesis. May god have mercy on your soul when you get to Labyrinth and Scrap Brain Zone.

It's a horrible experience. Labyrinth was slow and awful. Scrap Brain is both of that as well as being more difficult than the original game. The screen crunch, the pop in..... ugh.

I forced myself to beat it and will never touch that piece of crap again.

While I suck ass at pinball, I honestly had some fun with the game. It's not the best pinball game in general but I find it decent as its much easier than Spinball.

I also like the songs in the game, since they are very faithful to their original versions.

The music really impressed me; a lot of the extra tracks have vocals and the fact they did such a good job bringing them to the GBA really pushed me into including this for the retrospective
