As a Chris Cornell song, I like it.

As a James Bond theme song, I hate it.

Hmm well as a comparison what did you think of Madonna's Die Another Day?

I thought that song was horrible as a James Bond song to be honest. The last one to sound like a proper James Bond song was Goldeneye.

I like Cornell, I will listen to it as soon as I'm home from work.

Is this actually the "theme song" (plays during the opening credits), the post where that video is posted just says it's tied to the soundtrack, doesn't necessarily say it's the theme song.

[EDIT]NM, just read some more links.

First 15 seconds are awesome, but the rest of the song sucks.

'VIEW TO A KILL' by DURAN DURAN will always be the best Bond song!

Im partial to Tom Jones' "Thunderball", myself. Madonna was atrocious. Though TWINE was a mediocre movie, its theme song was great.

yea im not warming up to it very much..

and best bond song ever is Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger

No way, it's Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better.

As to the song in question here, it's awful. Possibly the worst Bond theme yet.

Madonna's Bond song is the worst of all of the Bond Songs for me. But I loved Garbage's The World Is Not Enough.

yeah, probably the best recent bond tune. Although Tomorrow Never Dies was pretty faithful to the bond 'sound'

Oh shit, I am ashamed, and so should all of you for also forgetting it. The best Bond theme, hands down, is the one for On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Its 100% John Barry instrumental, and 100% kickass. Thats my favorite of them all. Kickass opening credits too, featuring snippets of all the Connery Bond movies.

Actually I love that one too! :D

then again, OHMSS is one of my fav bond films next to Russia and Goldeneye

Yeah, I'd agree with that statement. It has a very classic Bond theme sound to it. I didn't care for it all that much at first, but after listening to it more, it grew on me a lot.

And I should note, I pretty much love all the Bond themes, so it's hard to pick out a "best" for me, with the exception of Madonna's song. It Fvcking sucks and I'll never learn to like it. Period.

Yeah, this is a bit.... weird. Feels a bit too... I don't know... extreme to be a Bond theme.

Since we're talking about it, though, some of my favorites are:
Goldfinger
Thunderball
OHMSS
Diamonds are Forever
Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
A View to a Kill
The Living Daylights
GoldenEye
TWINE

It sounds alright when the pace slows down, but the chorus and most of the song is just too up-beat to be a Bond theme. It's not a bad song, though.

I thought it was decent. Honestly, who gives a shit? It's during the opening credits. OH NOES.

Ugh... the magic is gone. When does this thing come out on DVD? 3 weeks?

Go end yourself. This movie will rock.

I really did not Die Another Day's theme at all. Well, I mean, the more I listened to it, the more I accepted it as just a regular song, but as a Bond theme? Fuhgeddaboutit! Actually though, Madonna's tune seemed to have a little more Bond flavor to it than this one. And sadly, that makes it a better Bond song, to me.

Eh, it kinda sets the tone for the movie. Pretty important to most all Bond fans.

re: recent theme songs - my favorite of the recent material has to be Garbage's The World Is Not Enough. Love, love, LOVE that song. Tomorrow Never Dies had a decent tune, but Sheryl Crow was not the right person to sing it. Her voice is just not smooth enough, nor can she hit certain notes.

My all-time favorite Bond theme is A View To A Kill.

Has anyone heard the Propellerheads version of On Her Majesty's Secret Service? Now that's just brilliant.

Has anybody ever heard the Bond song that Eric Clapton and Vic Flick recorded?

As far as I know, it was an instrumental that was supposed to be used in License to Kill, but they went with a Gladys Knight song instead. I was always interested to hear the Clapton/Flick version.

Yeah, exactly, and this song sets the tone for the movie really well. It's perfect; a rough rock song for the new rough Bond. I can see how you'd say it doesn't sound like a Bond song - even though I don't think it's TOO out of place among the other songs - but the Bond theme songs don't have to sound exactly the same every time, and I think this is a good change for this movie.

You're so right. Theme song is mediocre, lets throw in the towel for the entire film, despite rave advance screening buzz! Who cares if the movie is good, the music sucks!!!
