Hilarious Hands On / Reaction with 'Farpoint' PSVR E3

It's weird. I thought this game looked pretty rough during the conference, but, there seems to be a good word of mouth. Looks fun.
 
Aw, that's cute haha. It's fun to see completely genuine reactions like that, it goes a long way to showing that VR is more than just a gimmick, you just need to get it in people's hands.

Jeff From GB said he liked what he played of it at E3 2015 but he Had not been able to try it this year.

I know some people said they had issues from getting sick from this game and REVii but many who seem to have played both without issues.

I think VR is something that's not going to work for some at all to be honest but I'm not sure that's something that should inherently be held against it as long as it's a minority who have such issues.
 
Farpoint is easy enough to criticize for being a forwards-facing FPS (I mean, you have full FPS controls but levels are designed with very gradual/linear path) but it looks plenty cool from that it's a very pick-up-and-play game that people instantly have fun with and doesn't challenge your comfort levels. It doesn't aim to 'solve the FPS riddle' ala RIGS but you can stretch your legs here, you can squat, reach out with your arms and gun and it seems like it will be a cool sci-fi shooter escape.

I think some people will get used to it after using VR for a long enough time. Your body and mind will learn to adjust even if it does take some time. Other people like myself aren't effected at all but I never get car/sea sick or anything like that so I just think I'm built like that. Others though may never get over it. I know a friend who can't even used those 3D movie glasses without getting splitting head aches and getting sick.
 
That's great.

Farpoint looks genuinely interesting. I've been waiting for more core VR experiences and this is definitely on my list.
 
Do games not have normal control stick movement like normal games?

yeah Id like to know this too. It doesnt look like they are using a thumbstick to move. Or is it based on the head tilt movement thing, that some other VR games are using? This game has piqued my interest.

edit: nevermind I was thinking the thumbstick would be on the back, like the Wii gun , but looks like it is on the forward grip. I guess thats how it was on the Sharpshooter as well.

The problem with that is, that in VR if you move with an analog stick, your brain actually expects you to move unless your are in some kind of cockpit. A lot of people get sick by that.
With VR your brain tricks you to think that you are in that area and expects things that would happen in real life. If you move normally with a stick, you get sick pretty fast.

Thats why most people got sick after even playing the RE7 Demo, because the devs didnt even think about that...
 
The news about movement has me a bit annoyed. Is there not a way to solve these issues? Like having an overlay on the screen? Like a HUD? Make it so the brain is double tricked?

Some devs are toying with using the tilt of your head/upper body to move. I think with Golem?

And that's the secret of movement. The game's lead character is sitting up in bed, just like you're sitting in your chair. You can look around the room and you can move by leaning the top half of your body....
It's a neat trick; there's a tiny bit of a dead zone in your view where, as you look around, you're just looking around. Go outside of that circle, and movement becomes a bit more pronounced and your character turns. You don't notice it when you're in virtual reality; it simply feels natural. But you can virtually "walk" anywhere in your environment and even turn around a full 360 degrees merely by subtly moving the top half of your body and looking around.
