For those unaware it's a sort of Out of this World/Another World but with more exploration and procedurally generated animations.

At long last

Can't believe it's finally coming. Been following it since 2013. Its evolution since then has been incredible

Awesome! Definitely getting on PC somewhere down the line.

(not to shit on the parade... but was a Vita version in the works?)

Holy shit, I can't believe it's releasing so soon. Game looks absolutely incredible, will definitely pick it up (even with so much else releasing).

Early 2012 gameplay, gives you a good comparison on how the game has grown (and yet has stayed completely the same at its core)
First is an early prototype of the lizards and ends with a battle between lizards over the player's corpse

Second shows a bit more of stealth and evasion and better animated lizards

Third is some slightly more complete gameplay with two players evading various kinds of lizards

Fourth is two players working together to trick, ambush, and kill a lizard with spears

I had never heard of this until I checked the Kotaku article regarding the trailer. This is incredible. Cant play in March, but hopefully sometime in the next few months.

Another note - I see this is published by Adult Swim Games. They really are starting to become a serious publisher.

Since I kickstarted this I guess I need to find something to play it on soon since my normal computer is broke.

Kickstarted this one and the new Torment.
Haven't even had a chance to dip into Zelda or Horizon, and I'm not complaining.

The effects, animations, and environments in this game look incredible. Can't wait to dim the lights and put on headphones for this one.

Wow! No idea it would come so soon. Was expecting summer at best.

I've been looking forward to this for sooooooo long.

INCREDIBLE trailer too. The narration and music gave me some kinda 80s, Dark Crystal vibes.

Wow, what a trailer. I hope the game music is like that. Sounded like they got Werner Herzog to do the narrator for the trailer, hah.

Definitely will pick this up, looks amazing.

Great trailer and music! Getting it on PS4 and hoping for a Switch port later on. For some reason my Vita doesn't look as appealing as it once did anymore...

For real? That is awesome! Been looking forward to this since the first beautiful gifs appeared for this game.

What does "procedurally generated animations" even mean? And why is it a selling point?
Devs discussed the animations in an early Kickstarter update
What gives the characters of Rain Word their distinct naturalistic movement and expressiveness is that they are created using a blend of classical animation and code-based procedural animation. Unlike traditional sprite-based animation which flips through a few set poses for character actions or movements, Rain World characters consist of freely moving interconnected limbs and body parts each with their own weight and range of movement, etc., just a like a real body! Each limb is then individually animated with a wide variety of actions and motions.

This all means that when a slugcat is, say, climbing up a pole, each limb "knows" its own length and is able to grab/release the pole accordingly, presenting a natural looking hand-over-hand motion. Similarly, when a lizard is crawling along the ground, each leg acts as an individual motor, pulling the lizard the distance of the limb at a certain rate. And more excitingly: when you knock that lizard off-balance with a thrown rock or brick, breaking its grip on the ground, sometimes the weight and momentum of the creature's own long tail will drag the hapless, scrambling beast off of a ledge to its doom. Cool right!

You can see some of this leg and body movement action with the help of our little friend the see-through slugcat. The red markings indicate a specific limb or body articulation. Its almost like a complete skeleton of a slugcat!

Is this the same day as Dark Souls III DLC? God damn it. Guess Dark Souls III gotta wait. I'm psyched.

I played a demo of this a few months ago. I couldn't make sense of it especially with the fighting. I would have a projectile and throw it at one of the iguanas. Frequently, the projectile would be lost and then I didn't have any other options than just running. Is this just a running game then?
