I wish games like Phantasy Star Online 2, FfXI, FFXIV and Dragon Quest would get an offline / LAN only version translated and sold sometime in the future. They seem cool, but I would only play them single player or on a rare occasion with friends in real life...

Why is this still not coming over, I just dont get it at this stage :(

Presumably because if you take a bigger look at Dragon Quest X, this is now the third major expansion to it. Each expansion is like it's own game, so...yeah, this is about four games worth to translate.

I do wish there was an effort to hack and translate the game by fans, as this is what solved PSO2s issues. To my knowledge, only the offline campaign to Version 1 was translated by fans. This apparently ends on a cliffhanger that the online version picks up from.

Akira Toriyama's character design is always superb

I also love his art work (not as much Yoshiyuki Sadamoto)

But u have to admit his character design starting look alike and I'm not talking about looking like DBZ characters.

the main character in cover of DQX looks really like the main character in IX just has longer hair.

I'm gonna assume "Journey to 5000 Year Far Away From Home", whatever that means, is a statement regarding the time a localization will take

:'(

Is this a single player expansion? Also looks like unreal 4? Very nice art. Similar to DQXI.

They are pre-rendered cut scenes like all the X update previews.

Looking forward to playing this this fall.

The offline component is like a tutorial prologue. I doubt it will do that.

- Single player story will move to be online requirement next patch, because of reasons.
- It's CG, in game they using our beloved Crystal Tools ;)
- But yeah, many things are similar to DQXI (DQXI PS4 is kind of a single player DQX)

I know it's an MMO, but it could have an offline expansion since it already had an offline campaign.

- NEVAAAA~! /sad

DQX intro was fan translated. Its part of the game that is basically singleplayer, like age of conan. I think its only a few hours long and would probably take like 6 hours to set up and patch correctly, but its available (for now).

Take a look at some gameplay videos to see why.

Simplistic graphics and animation
And(most importantly) turn-based menu combat

Very much feels like an old school Enix Dragon Quest with multiplayer thrown in.

Because of those things and the fact that the Dragon Quest series has practically zero presence outside Japan led to them thinking that it would do very poorly.

Don't care about localization, just want the IP block lifted. I'm kind of interested in trying it even though I'm not an MMO guy

It probably wouldn't be much fun unless you can read Japanese, there are quests and unless you can follow along, it probably would be more frustrated than not.

Wasnt the ip block lifted a while ago? Also god I want to play this so much, if only to complete all the mainline entries. I played the offline intro a bit and love it but I can't understand any of the written text :(

The IP restriction was lifted for a total of a month a couple of years ago. It's super easy to get around though.

Holy shit wtf. That trailer looks even more exciting than DQXI. I want to play this... :(

"5000 years in the future, all my friends are dead my country was gone. OH HEY! new mascot character and stalker cat lady." << this is your gaming kink?

Seem player time travel to Ame*ica, polices chasing puny thief while ignore man with weapons and armour.

So the Switch is getting the complete edition in September and then this in November and probably DQ11 early next year.

What a time to be a DQ fan.

Is the Switch version physical as well?

All version have both disc and DL.

It's a very good thing. The Wii is holding the game back. Plus, as mentioned, Wii owners get a free Switch upgrade.

I couldnt care less about it holding it back or whatever.

I guess ill just have to move on to the wii u version.

Game developers need to stop supporting 11 year old consoles at some point in online games. Continuing to support a console that only has 512 MB of RAM available to it limits what they can actually do in the game as a whole, because they have to account for ancient hardware.

I noticed that after the time/dimension/whatever jump, none of the races besides the humans are being presented.

Btw, i'm not a fan if mmos abandon the "world" that has been building up until that point
