Who is AdjutantReflex

In order to understand all that has gone on so far in this Halo 3 ARG the best resource is the Perceiving the Dimensions of Iris videos created by Args.Bungie.org's users DHalo and Ibeechu. They are the fastest way to get caught up. Following the videos is what has happened since the most recent video has wrapped up. As the videos address it, the info will be changed to a link to the appropriate video.

Unlike Forerunner Servers one and two, there was no hints to when Server 3 would open. It just did. Some people believe it was an accident. Regardless, this is what Server 3 contained:

First and foremost, the key holders received this transmission in the Bounce Path Control page:

content_overwrite.txt:
I speak to you of my intent
But intentions are eddies and whorls
And they change with the course of a stream
This stream becomes a river
And a cataract of logic and doubt
Who has the right to live?
The light with the will to create me?
Or dark with the will to consume?
Sometimes might is right
And sometimes the lamb must submit to the lion
My convictions are tested
My intentions now are fey and strange
Should I pursue a pyrrhic choice?
And rethink alliances?
And choose a new philosophy?
Right or might?
Truly I do not know
But you will, soon enough
For this is where the cataract floods
And drowns the boon of higher ground

Forerunner Server 04- AKA This ain't your moms book club
250px-Server_04.jpg

There was much more leading up to this Server.

It all started on August 3rd when the Halo insider was updated with a post called "When we Two Parted"

It was a modified version of a poem by the same name written by Lord Byron. Bold text signifies what is new:

When We Two Parted

<<overwrite granted>>
<<content updated>>

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-heart ed,
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy ki ss;
Truly th at hour foretold
Sorro w to this!

The dew of the morning
Sunk chill on my brow;
It felt like the w arning
Of what I feel now.
Th y vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame:
I hear thy name spoken
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'e r me -
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee
Who knew thee too well:
Long, long shall I rue thee
Too deepl y to tell.

In secret we met:
In silence I grie ve
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee? -
With silence and tears.

Or better I'll look
And find you away,
Mistaken in jungle?
My heart labors stayed?
Long weeks though were hidden.
In Amazon's folds;
The formula's secrets,
Love's story now told.

The strange spacing holds a secret. When you take the letter after each strange spacing and put them in order it spells: THECASTAWAYTHEORYVOLMAN

When following the new stanzas reference to Amazon, if you typed THECASTAWAYTHEORYVOLMAN in to the search bar on Amazon.com it led here:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000RGSYWI/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Note that the book cover is the inverted image of 801snpow.jpg. The book is published by Golden Wing books, an obvious nod to Iris. As is the ISBN number: 2-061-62236-5 (aka 206.16.223.65).

It seemed the only comments were from someone named Thomas Sanatos, who appeared to be a friend of the Author Jonas Volman.

His comments can be seen here: http://halo.wikibruce.com/The_Castaway_Theory

It is revealed that Jonas has disappeared. Jonas was a childhood friend of Society of the Ancients founder David George.

Thomas stayed around answering some peoples questions until the final day (Aug 9, 2007) where he revealed that Jonas had contacted him over MSN Messenger under the name ProfVol49. When you enter ProfVol49@hotmail.com into MSN Messenger it adds Jonas Volman as a friend. It's a bot, but it says some pretty interesting stuff. Here's some cool things I got from my conversation:

Kel says:
Do you know Thomas Sanatos

Jonas Volman says:
He is a good friend of mine. Do you know him?

Kel says:
Yes we are Boy Scouts together

Jonas Volman says:
He and I worked together for years.

Kel says:
What did you two work on?

Jonas Volman says:
A new book.

Kel says:
What's the new book about?

Jonas Volman says:
The Places the Earth Stands Still.

Kel says:
What is The Places The Earth Stands Still?

Jonas Volman says:
Would you like to see one of these locations?

Kel says:
You bet!

Jonas Volman says:
This will help get you there. Click here ---> http://af.rdir.us/ct?275/0

Kel says:
Thanks

Jonas Volman says:
You're welcome.

Kel says:
Wanna Secks?

Jonas Volman says:
Uh... Thanks, but no thanks.

Kel says:
I'm not wearing pants

Jonas Volman says:
...

The link takes you to what is now the Server 4 page, but was the Bounce Path Control page. After 100 people entered the keys, the server unlocked. It gave some people a Runtime Error which I imagine would make people angry...I can imagine that very clearly...

Server 4 contained:

mb_4_v6.mp3 (the new transmission as found on the Bounce Path page).

Forerunner Server 5- AKA Run the Streets, and Trample for Bounce Path

Server5.jpg

During the unlocking phase of Server 4, people were manipulating the URL of 206.16.223.65 and stumbled upon 206.16.223.76 prematurely.

After Server 4 opened we found out how it was supposed to go down. StarImage4.jpg clearly says The Artifact Location, which now when you enter TheArtifactLocation.com it takes you to the 206.16.223.76 page. The page itself asks for a password to gain entry. This is when unknown.jpg comes into play. If you search pictures of Nebulas, you find this one is called the Boomerang Nebula. When you enter "boomerang" in the password field it opens the site.

The site had a list of 3 cities: New York, Seattle, Los Angeles - followed by randomly cycling characters in sets of 10.

On August 13th the page was updated to have 081607 (August 16, 2007) between the city name and the random characters.

On the 16th the site was updated to display times. 9 PM for in Seattle and LA, and 23:59 for New York. Following this, the status was updated on Halo3.com to 0 keys, and 0/100 on the desktop app.

Nothing happened until the times indicated on the Artifact Location site. When the clock struck 12 AM est, the site changed to this:
Co-Ordinates.jpg

Co-ordinates (which changed multiple times). When searched, they revealed locations in each of the 3 cities. Around this time the counter changed to 1/100 keys. Then up to 5. Then it broke loose.

Unforum user Eccramer went to the Seattle coordinates and saw what is now Server 5 playing on a projector, which had a URL leading to the Server 5 Bounce Path page.

Then he called Unforum user Giga, who secured them both key's and then posted the finding on IRC server #halo.

This spread quickly to the IRC channel I was at, and when the link was posted, people jumped on it. I was number 88/100 keys. But with 1 refresh, they were all gone.

And with that Server 05 was unlocked.

Transcript:

As a broken marionette,
the future is out of my hands.
Infinite answers to our present and shifted,
and you redeemer now hold the keys.
Tomorrow things may be clear,
that I will not be here to witness the clarity.
More records remain,
wells not drawn upon,
depths you are not yet ready to grasp,
but the luxury of readiness
is almost at an end.
We shall soon see,
what we shall soon see.
Walk among the foot falls of empty dust,
living where your kinds bones makes soil,
the next movement is set to begin.
As before, the battle is one sided,
as before, a failure in action may lead to the death of all.
But new to this life is the belief that we can overcome.

MB05032.txt:

You asked me once, what happened to those who vanished?
You asked me, why did we survive where our fathers fell?
You wished to know how we ever let it happen
A scourge that consumed the galaxy
And the cure that was worse than the cancer
You asked me once about my intent
And the spot that would not wash out
I promise you the answers lie in the Ark
Find me there in the dark
For that is where I abide

Log_5_Transmission.txt
The anomalous world is in a perilous location beyond the line.
{//}The secrets it holds must be preserved.
{//}Plans within plans within plans.
The inhabitants; these unique denizens, must be researched.
They may hold answers to our own mysteries.
{//}What irony that we discovered this treasure, only at the end of things.
{//}But what fortune that we still had time to save them.
The thing we built on that world will vouchsafe their lives,
{//}But perhaps one day it will be used for its intended purpose.
If the plan succeeds, and they are saved, it will be a good world.
If the plan fails,
{//}And the adversary succeeds,
it will remain an enigma forever
{//}With no-one left to reclaim it.

Adjutant Reflex went on to star in some Broadway shows before quietly retiring to a time share in Mombasa.

Shoteh moved on to post in some truly awesome threads, knowing that he had given the Halo community an epic meme.

Buttonbasher decided that with his Spartan helmet in hand he would travel back in time to June 10, 2007 and leave a message for the Halo community. That message read:

This is how it all begins...

Most images and links from Halo.Wikibruce.com one of the best Iris Resources

He better post here!! NeoGaf is the center of the known universe.

Right now, it appears he is a Monitor for either another Halo or the Ark.

Adjunt Reflex is almost certainly the monitor of the Ark. He says he's a "facilitator" and is primarily concerned with the "array". Combine that with what the Gulity Spark says at the end of Halo 2 and this guy is looking for a human "Reclaimer" to remotely activate all the remaining Halo installations and wipe out all life in the universe.

"[Hibernating] until next incident"? what incident happened that caused him to come out of hibernation; the Halo 3 beta ending perhaps?

Thermite said:

He said it has been "871803909 ± 384 hours since event." That was probably the last time the galaxy was wiped clean of sentient life in Halo lore.

The activation of the artifact in ilovebees(at least I think it was activated then)?

The activation of the installation at the end of Halo 2?

Mombasa Slipspace incident could have activated something...

That is a sound theory.

It works out to around 100,000 years.

Yeah, and the other incidents would have been around three years in our time and events in Halo 3 look like they take place pretty close to Halo 2.

Definition:

Pronunciation: 'a-j&-t&nt
Function: noun

1 : a staff officer in the army, air force, or marine corps who assists the commanding officer and is responsible especially for correspondence
2 : one who helps : ASSISTANT

I'm thinking 2 is more applicable.

DoctorWho said:

I think this is the most probable. When Delta Halo's firing sequence was halted, it set out a signal to the remaining "Halos" sending them into stand by mode. Also activating the Ark which may have been dormant, So the Ark's AI system my have been reactivated. (It mentions it was in hibernation)

I'm convinced it's a lone wolf screwing with people.

If Bungie refuses to comment on it or says things like "Hmm, I wonder what this is all about...", it is viral marketing ala ilovebees. If they come out and say "Some guy just hacked our message boards and we gave him the old banhammer" then it's a lone wolf.

*cues Stinkles to come in and post "Hmm, I wonder what this is all about..."*

What makes you think this?
There have been at least three very similar attempts at this sort of thing over at HBO forums the past few months, all of which turned out to be people messing around, and this reads very similar. The b.net mod thingy is something I didn't realize - by the time I got out of meetings he was a regular member so I missed that detail. Either way, I'm skeptical.

*bookmarks thread*

I don't know if any of you remember, but I recall Stinkles using the term "Facilitate" and "Enabling" while setting up our last custom game last night (The one that Lukems joked about being a Laser orgy). I think he's been posting as Adjutant Reflex. :D

For the many of us that weren't in that party, what context was he using them in?

Well shit son why didn't someone point this out before. If it was utterly bogus it wouldn't be stickied and locked right after he said he was "hibernating".

Looks like a mod is involved, and started posting from a public mod account, then switched it to a regular account. Either he's got secret mod powerz, or a seperate mod account is being used to lock it. Either way - mode switched to: BELIEVE

You just confirmed what I have always believed, Frankie is a 100,000 year old AI construct.

A super awesome context that was followed by a High Ground discotheque of a million red lasers and vibrant, blistering death.

OMG. That's why he kept telling Luke (who was party leader) to give him control. The exact phrase - used several times with an increasing level of implied threat - was "Give. Me. Control." AI construct taking over!

(Hilarious laser apocalypse was the result in the ensuing custom game.)

He did put emphasis on those words, but I doubt it has something to do with this. But the again, I could be wrong....

On a different note, it's a shame we never got to do that "everybody fire at the same time" thing. That would've been pretty awesome....:lol

I was being entirely sarcastic. Luke and Frank had very different notions about what kind of settings to use for our games, and there was some hilarious back and forth about getting control of the room. I have have to say, the laser carnage round was a hoot, despite the lag.

And if we're going with wild, fiction-busting speculation, they I'll also point out that both were seen arguing in CAPSLOCK in the Beta thread about the stuff they were working on and both left claiming they had to go to work.

So following that logic, both men had to go to work, and they both worked on things prior to playing, therefor they are clearly behind these new, related developments.

I was thinking about that. Luke said he was writing something. Stinkles said something about it being about people.

FINE I WILL BE THERE TOO. I WILL STOP WRITING THIS THING I AM WRITING AND I WILL LOG ON TO THIS GAME.

NO, WRITE THAT THING. THOSE GUYS YOU ARE WRITING ABOUT ARE MAD SWEET. THE KIDS WISH TO KNOW ABOUT THE MAD SWEETNESS THEY ARE CREATING.

Certainly not, that image is like an evolution chart going from borderline loli to cartoon sex-bomb. Notice they are arranged with increasing breast size and decreasing eye size.
