This is a really good picture! I like it a lot. If you make a flickr account, it'll automatically resize your pictures into a decent size (assuming your account is free).Thriller said:http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=4qrfqcl

Humphrey Bogart said:also, i have a question for anyone who might own a Rebel XT. i just got one, and can't quite figure something out. i wanted to shoot in b&w, so i set the camera to monochrome. i did a days worth of shooting, and everything in the LCD screen was coming out in black & white. i got home and uploaded the pics, and they all came out in color.
any idea what the deal is?
tokkun said:There's really no advantage to shooting in B&W in a digital camera as long as you're getting a B&W preview when composing the shot. Sure you have to run a conversion script afterwards, but then you don't lose the option of keeping the color shots.

Shinobix said:I'd appreciate your oppinion on this one. Might be an entry for a contest but I'm not sure if it's good or not.
i was shooting in manual.BlueTsunami said:Did you switch over to any of the "Non Creative" modes? (Portrait, Landscape, Macro etc) when taking those shots?
The advanced settings (like B&W and ISO levels) aren't adjustable in those modes. You need to stick in Aperture, Shutter priority, Manual etc modes.
If you did set it as B&W and stayed in the creative area than yeah, thats weird
don't you get a lot more shades of grey when shooting in black & white though? surely that's gotta help the tone.tokkun said:There's really no advantage to shooting in B&W in a digital camera as long as you're getting a B&W preview when composing the shot. Humphrey Bogart said:i did some research, and it turns out this was happening because im shooting RAW. turns out though that when you're shooting jpegs, you are indeed getting more info when shooting in b&w.
so, who here has a DSLR, and isn't shooting RAW?
DSLR, no RAW here. Two reasons mainly, it adds to post-processing time (and complexity if my wife ever uses it) and I don't have software to support it. Maybe when GIMP adds support for it.Humphrey Bogart said:so, who here has a DSLR, and isn't shooting RAW? if so, why?

Yeah, that's one thing I tried to do but couldn't get it to work properly (I am horrible with web coding and apparently Adobe GoLive is worse) but it is something I'd like to get done. For now, though, the browser's back button will suffice.tokkun said:One change I would suggest is to add links to go back when you click into one of the galleries. For example, if I click photos then people, I have to click the back button in the browser to get back to photos. There should be a link in the site to click to go back. It's just an ergonomics thing
That software is really cool, though. I'll have to play with it on my site.
I have a K-M Maxxum 5D and I shoot RAW because it straight up captures more information that allows you to do less lossy manipulation in post. Also, most RAW development programs like Lightroom and Aperture save only the changes to the photo, so you keep the original as shot and any subsequent versions without taking up much more storage space.Humphrey Bogart said:so, who here has a DSLR, and isn't shooting RAW? if so, why?

I miss home.
