And of course, feel free to add any of your personal favorites that I may have missed, or that you think deserve special praise. When it came to multiplatform or compilation titles, I tried to limit the selections to titles that had been given PSP-specific attention, or were particularly suited to the PSP's features/design.

I wanted to get one so bad today, but I already have Daxter and the Family Guy DVD so the extra $30 turned me off.

I'd be interested in getting that sexy FF7:CC edition but would miss the opportunity to watch UMD movies on my TV.... not that big of a deal I suppose.

mmm, great list :)

Anyone know the release date for Wipeout Pulse? It's been a long time coming and the promo/demo can only last me so long.

My favorite Handheld ever. Great list. If it wasnt for this system, I would have never taken handhelds seriously.

sometime in september.

Awesome, another "look at all the great games [insert system here] has!" thread.

Then again, at least somebody is hyping the PSP Slim. I had no idea it was out until logging onto GAF today.

Here's some info and a screenshot for Salamander Portable (it's not a salamander sim...)

Salamander Portable contains PSP ports of Salamander, Life Force and Salamander 2. As an added bonus, Xexex, a one-shot arcade game by the staff that created Gradius II, makes its first console appearance ever.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is a remake of the original X, correct? Was much changed or is it quite faithful to the original?

Hmm it's just not the same without the little testimonials describing why people thought the games were excellent. That was the best part of the old thread IMO, gave it a more personal feel heh. Also, not a fan of putting upcoming releases on there. Regardless if this thread ends up sticking or not thanks for the effort.

gunpey, every extend extra and puzzle quest dont deserve the tag "excellent psp game" - they are all mediocre and have broken gameplay.

Exactly. The games need their descriptions and stuff in the original post, too.

And I agree about the upcoming releases.. those should be in a separate post.

Is the first post ordered by quality or something else? Some games in a series like monster hunter are in order while the GTAs are far apart.

To be honest while metal gear acid keeps more to the general metal gear storyline the game is utter and complete crap. Metal gear acid 2 is an incredible improvement over it visually and gameplay wise that i would suggest skipping the first game.

Every single major video game media outlet that reviewed Puzzle Quest gave it 80+. It's fine for you think it's broken, but you're pretty much outside the norm here.

EEE wasn't quite as well received but still Game Informer, IGN, PSM, Edge, and games all gave it 80+. Gaming Age, Games Radar, Gamespot, and 1up all gave it mixed reviews. I personally found it awesome.

I'll give you that Gunpey is a mediocre title, although it's still worth buying IMO. Better than the DS version as well.

Why does the Star Ocean: Second Story look like a reaaaaally bad port with high res character sprites? Those background bitmaps look really fuzzy and compressed.. too bad.

Or is it just a bad screenshot?

Hot Shot Golf PSP is the only PSP game that I've enjoyed for more than an hour and have kept instead of trading in for DS games.

The 'H' stands for hentai.

I love the DS as much as the next gamer, but as they say in Antarctica "Keep that shit out of here."

Andy787 isn't a junior member, he was given the tag, an old punishment once dealt to posters who tried to spam their way out of having Junior Member status before we added the "true" perma-junior nuclear option. Its a badge he'll have to wear forever.. (Or until he gets tagged again :p)

I hope it might be a bad screenshot.

And I was almost sure I was going to get a DS, the decision just goes back and forth every goddamn day ;_;

Yeah, but opinions like that create sadness in a happy thread, you are killing the happy vibes.

Hope you sleep happy knowing you are killing the happy vibes.

If you are gamer and you don't have a PSP and a DS, you should get your gamer license revoked.

This post contains many lies.

Salamander Portable is an excellent and wholly worthwhile substitute for Nintendogs.

There is no order. Well, perhaps some of the higher ones were first in mind just out of subconscious preference.

Great thread...I might actually buy a PSP next year instead of one of the next-gen consoles. The library has finally gotten to the point where it is very hard to resist, especially at the current price point.

Or I never had time for a portable until I reverted back to the ways of public transportation, that works too.

Nope, the game lineups are so good on both consoles that you do a disservice to yourself by not having either of them. By not having both consoles you need your gaming license revoked.

For great justice!!! :D

It is a really bad screenshot. It is probably from a Japanese magazine scan and sized to PSP resolution, simply because there do not seem to be any direct feed screens online.
