Square Enix Europe rack up their second All Formats No1 this year so far (previous being Final Fantasy XIII) with ‘Just Cause 2’ thanks to their subsidiary Eidos Interactive.

The original Just Cause released almost four years ago just missed out on the top spot, debuting at No2 in the All Formats Chart. Nintendo’s remake of Pokémon Gold and Silver (originally on Gameboy Color) debuts on the DS this week with ‘Pokémon Soulsilver’ at No2 and ‘Pokémon Heartgold’ at No4, with EA’s ‘Battlefield: Bad Company 2’ sandwiched in between at No3. Ubisoft’s ‘Just Dance’ moves down a place to No5 followed by Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ which bounces back up to No6 from No10. Last week’s No1, Sony’s ‘God of War III’, has dropped down six places to No7 followed by Square Enix’s ‘Final Fantasy XIII’ which has dropped down five places to No8. Nintendo then finish off the Top 10 with ‘Wii Sports Resort’ at No9 and ‘Wii Fit Plus’ at No10. Outside of the Top 10 we have Koch Media’s TV tie-in ‘Prison Break: The Conspiracy’ new at No17 and Ubisoft’s ‘Red Steel 2’ debuting at No34.

Resonance of Fate did so bad :/
#29 in the 360-only, full-price only chart
#16 in the PS3-only, full-price only chart
Combined it doesn't appear in the all formats charts either.

If it had come out a year ago, I think it may have done OK. But anyone who is in to JRPGs right now is buying, or still playing through FFXIII (probably still doing tutorials).

Infinite Space did just as bad. #26 in the DS full price charts.

Not a good week for SEGA published RPGs.

Like Monty said; the timing here is the killer. Chaining JRPGs together is for a niche group of people only and as shown by the sales figures where people only bought one it was FFXIII. Though I don't believe Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean IV did well at all in the EU either.

EVERY FUCKING WEEK, I TELL YOU.

The text refers to the All Formats chart.

Well, every week someone does question the text :)

Apologies if this is not the case Opus! But you did quote that before quoting the individual SKUs which confused me.

I got in an argument about TV marketing for Red Steel 2 with one of the ubi dudes once. He told me that they weren't going to do any marketing because: "we can't advertise during popular programs that housewives watch" I told him that other channels that they could market on existed. He simply refused to acknowledge this 'logic'.

SEGA truly is a master at how to ruin the sale of their own games. They could have postponed this release a few weeks/months later so it won't have to compete with FFXIII and GOW3 but noooo, they have to release it now to compete with so many games on top of competing with their recently released Yakuza 3.

PS3 - 12
360 - 11
Wii - 8
DS - 6
PC - 3

theres... more ps3 games than 360 games. i don't remember this happening in quite some time. enlighten me if it has happened recently :-)

Exclusive advertising. Similarly to The Netherlands, the FFXIII ads only mention the 360 version.

Even with that, I think the vast majority of consumers are aware that it is also available on the PS3.

But GOW3 fell fast, wtf :(

Front loaded as expected, it should have legs though.

Last week! And it's because of a recent spate of PS3 exclusives tipping the balance.

its quite common lately especially the weeks PS3 has some exclusive.. and seeing the chat i see it will become more common as most of the multi games are charting for XBOX n PS3 on one after the other like Just Cause n even COD.. n in some cases like ACII n Prison Break PS3 version is charting higher than XBOX although i think the difference is going to be meaningless..

Seriously where the F is mass effect 2???!! People need to start buying this awesome game.
It came out almost 2 months ago and did sell gangbusters at the time - guess it was majorly front loaded.
I wish it sold more too - love that game

It's because the PS3 version of Darksiders somehow managed to sneak in there at #40.

Yakuza 3 placing better in it's debut week than Red Steel 2 sort of sends a pretty fucking clear message about "hardcore" third party Wii games, really.

Red Steel 2 bombed, and it even had TV advertising. :lol :lol

I think that sends a message to a lot of publishers, not just Ubisoft.

Yeah, sadly.

Well, maybe it will have legs.
