Hot Shots PlayStation Vita Trailer

KILLER APP

No, seriously, I love Hot Shots: Open Tee 2. This was one of the games I wanted to see today, and I was thrilled when I saw it pop up. Will buy, whenever I end up with a Vita.

they can make a whole nother game with all that poking and pinching

better be a launch game

It'll be a launch game for Japan. It's really one of Sony's only major IP in the territory at this point.

Hope that dragging thing can be done with the sticks as well. It's nice you've got a touchscreen and all, but...I don't want to use it.

HSG was an early killer app for the PSP and it'll be the same for the Vita it looks like. Perfect portable game.

This the game that got me hard at the "NGP" Japan reveal last year....and its the game that I will own day1.

I hope theres a driving range with customized wind cup placement and a few other lil things that irked me last time. But day1 none the less.
(also noticed a crapload of DLC in Japan teaser.....hope its all lazygamer DLC and not 3million dollars of exclusive DLC crap

"I hope I can use one of the face buttons to shoot. It's nice you've got triggers on the pad now, but ... I don't want to use them."

C'mon, man, embrace the technology

I can't believe this series doesn't have a LBP styled course creation tool. Being able to create, share, and play peoples courses would be fantastic and a huge boost to a franchise that could use something fresh and big like that. I always thought they'd do that and move controls with a new PS3 release. Maybe in the future I guess. A nice addition to the Vita launch lineup here, perfect series for portable gaming.

Completely agree. Hot Shots Golf is the perfect franchise for "Play Create Share". Also a killer app for Move. Seems like SCEJ is not on board with those strategies. A shame.

I might as well start saving my money now...

I hope there's more legit golf courses and not courses with dinosaurs or highways on them

Dear god, I completely disagree with this. I don't want to waggle playing Hot Shots, and I'm a proponent of waggling in nearly all forms. No way, no how. Give me tap tap tap or give me death. I don't love the idea of course creation either (I don't want a hundred wacky courses, and everyone would just create holes shaped like Kratos or something), but those would offend me far less.

I will probably put dozens of hours into this, just like I did the first two Open Tee games.

The official website is open now - along with a new TGS trailer.

There looks to be something similar to the Everybody's Tennis RPG mode in it - or maybe that's the online lobby?

Also, any of the Japanese readers able to translate the contents of 4th tab on the left? It looks like you're able to chart your progress on something (games between friends?)

You're talking about the stuff shown at 1:10 for a few seconds right? I was also wondering what that was.

Ack, sorry - it wasn't RPG mode. More like a story mode where you go up to characters and challenge them to a game of tennis. You get costumes for winning and extra prizes for dominating the match (beating them without the loss of a point).

It's a good way of doing it and the game had it's own list of things to do which would translate quite well as trophies. You can see a bit in the following link (skips straight to it)

Ok that's a totally awesome use of AR there!

I thought it was just a video backdrop, but the way IGN describes it, they may be trying something a little more clever.

http://ie.psp.ign.com/articles/119/1194985p1.html

A lot of the games at TGS have been heavily promoting the Vita's next-level AR features, to the point where AR features seem to be mandatory in every handheld title. In Everybody's Golf, there's an AR camera that essentially transforms your surroundings into the course itself – so you can drive a ball high over the heads of the Tokyo Game Show crowds, rolling the ball onto the green over by the Sega booth.

The AR features were a bit wonky for this showing, with green and blue spots showing up all over the place as the system struggled to process my surroundings, but that's to be expected in a work-in-progress build. It has the potential to be a very cool addition, especially if you happen to be playing your Vita out in open countryside.

I don't really get how that would work though.
