Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines - buy this game

MOD ABUSE:

Optional instructions for an improved experience (wesp's all-in-one patch fixes lots of bugs, and improves compatibility):

Snuggler said:
1. Download and install Bloodlines on Steam. Be sure to try and run it once, although it won't launch on many Windows 7 64-bit systems unpatched due to an error.

2. Download and install the latest unofficial patch, to the \Steam\Steamapps\common\Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines folder (or wherever the game is installed), located in probably C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\:

http://www.patches-scrolls.de/vampire_bloodlines.php

This is the only patch you will need. Don't go with the 'Plus' option on your first playthrough, it adds unofficial content.

3. After that, search for 'Extra' in your Bloodlines directory and click 'Res Patch' to update it to modern resolutions. Once the patch is in effect, you'll find the res options in the game's options menu.

4. Get naked.

5. Play the fucking game.

OPTIONAL: Use RadeonPro or Nvidia Inspector to force some AA. It's by no means essential, but it looks much better (no more jaggies) when you're forcing 8XAA and any modern PC should be capable of it without any performance loss. Both are free and easy to use.

To fix the blank logo videos:
Minsc said:
Solution 1: I think it's much better to just move the 4 movies out of the \Vampire\media\ folder than having to
Solution 2: disable desktop composition and visual themes if that can be avoided.

It's nicer too, as it is literally a fix for no intro videos, as you don't even to waste your time looking at them. ;)

To fix 16:10 anamorphic problems with characters being stretched vertically too much:
Try playing in 16:9 or 4:3.

Just for comparison, this is how the game should look by default with wesp's patch:

I really have to get around to taking more screens and playing this again.

end MOD ABUSE

edit: IF YOU HAVE -15MB RAM ERRORS INSTALL THE FUCKING PATCH.

people you might miss it because there will be no daily sale.
It goes on sale very, very rarily.

You may as well wait until the 9th to buy this, to make sure it is not a daily. If you haven't played it, it's not like you haven't waited forever to do so anyway.

Edit - Usually the last day is a recap, so at least wait until the 9th.

The one downside is that you might get so caught up in the game that you'll forgot all about the Steam summer sale.

I'll be waiting until the last day of the Steam sale, and if it hasn't been a daily deal then I will buy it at 13.39. No need to buy it this instant.

What is this plus edition talked about in the patch notes?

(+) is for Plus Edition players only!
+Set cameras stack limit to five and fixed bad stack limit variables.
+Made Heather meet you out from Venture Tower and fixed Gargoyle XP.
+Corrected restored content appearing in Giovanni Mansion and temple.
Moved unreachable NPCs at Hallowbrook hotel and fixed door opening.
Fixed Regent's lip-sync, warehouse pallet and railing clipping bugs.
Stopped VV sending emails if pissed and fixed some minor text bugs.
Fixed wrong weapon stats shown using new client.dll, thanks to int9.
Made Red Dragon hostess stay and repeat her elevator conversations.
Restored original poster order and clerk sexual bias to basic patch.
Fixed claw brother being susceptible to one-hit-kill by Possession.

I have it retail (bought it D1) but if it goes in a daily deal i might get it on steam, just for the comodity.

Same here - bought it day one. But what the heck. Just rebought it!

5$.

Five dollars.

For this game.

And then you guys buy some schlock for 60$ day 1.

I thought that was a daily sale

I've been wanting to buy this game for a while, but Steam and other downloadable game stores only sell the censored version to people in Europe.

wat

what was censored out???

I don't buy anything on Steam unless its 66% off or higher. If this is a daily deal then I'll bite.

Also, it's kinda bullshit to make this thread on the first day of the sale. If it does end up being a daily deal you'll have some pissed off gaffers.

I hope it goes back to full price before the 9th justto screw you folks who have been crying for a sale only to demand itbe cheaper.

I think this will be the case.

Activision don't participate in sales that much + they usually don't do 50% deals.

If people are paranoid about that, just buy it then. It's not like anyone that's ignored it this long is likely to be dying to play it.

Explain yourself? Don't just drop this line and go away.

You cheapskates gobble up shit like Call of Doody at $60, yet piss and moan when this gem of a game isn't $5? I hope there will be Goofy time for you all tonight

I expect the sale to last until the end, since all of Activision's catalog is on sale through July 10.

Still, it needs to be bought.

This game is better than a good majority of games in recent years. Anyone who remotely enjoys RPGs should play it.

I don't remember the details anymore, just that the EU version was censored stuck in my mind.
So a quick Google search: http://fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=66558
Vampire Masquerade bloodlines is censored and its official.
William penn from Activision has told me in a five email chat that the only version of Vampire - Masquerade Bloodlines to be uncensored was the US version as it is the only version that activision was directly involved with.

censored but mines got blood and swearing??
yeah but can you dismember anyone (humans/cops/kindred) anywhere anytime!! - the us version does.
the head chop during the first intro is censored - the us version displays the head fall off and blood spray out.
and a few extra swear words to tone things out aswell as some nudity parts but not all.

I'm pretty sure people from Europe who bought the Steam version confirmed that it is indeed this censored version.

Assuming you played both before and after the intensive community patching: how much better is the game now compared to at release? I was reading this review earlier and most of the "details" KG mentions seem fixable.

True Blood comparison? Really?

Way to undersell Bloodlines.

True Blood is amazing (writing is way better than Bloodlines but Bloodlines is just a fun game so it's not fair to compare), but I guess it gets its dose of nerd hate because it's popular (judging from this thread).

13 bucks for one of the best games ever made aint bad. Especially one that until now hadnt been on sale in 3 years.

The patches make is MUCH better, but the game was still great without them.

More like because its nothing like True Blood. Bloodlines is all about factions and politics and going up in the underworld.

Even if there is a daily deal for VtM : Bloodlines, I suspect it'll only go down to 10 $ : 50 % off instead of 33 % off.

If you consider yourself to be a man (or woman) of fine tastes and who happens to love RPG in any slightest way, then you owe it to yourself to shell out at least 13.33 $ for this masterpiece.
