Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines - buy this game

Same here, but better late than never. It took me seven years to play it but it rocked my shit regardless.

IT. IS. NOT. GOING. ON. SALE. FOR. ANOTHER. FIVE. YEARS.
I know there was some pack (1c?) that wasn't a daily deal but raised the price after the first day, but has this happened to individual games before?

water_wendi is merciless, your excuses won't save you.
Or me actually, only games I had time for in 2004 were HL2 and Doom 3 cos I was travelling Europe on my lonesome for most of the year.

Generally only when they make a pricing error. Like SSF4:AE pre-order was incorrectly on sale earlier when all the summer sale adjustments were first going up. This sale price is obviously correct so it should be at this price until the 10th.

Sounds like 2013 from the admin post here and the media we have so far on the game. Looking forward to it though, it is said to draw some inspiration from X-COM too (the real one of course).

Damn thats a long wait.

Those shots were just with the UOP, some areas just have higher quality textures. Make sure to force 16xAF of course, but I don't need to tell you that.
OK, thanks

It'll be this price for a few days, and it could go cheaper. Nothing wrong with holding out a little longer.

Given the total number of games on sale, and the amount on a lowered priced daily sale, it seems like every game will get a daily cheaper deal.

Back in 2004 I was in high school so I was more concerned with getting drunk and causing trouble than videogames. If I could go back in time I would make myself buy it to support Troika, though. ;_;

I just wish they still made games like Bloodlines. The Witcher games are close but it's not the same.

Compatibility says it don't work on Win7. Is that still the case? Because if so then why should I buy it?

With the fan patch, it works with W7. It's painless to install.

Works for me. Download the patch in OP.

Edit: beaten

Ah, thanks. Guess I'll be waiting then.

I've recently played it (retail version) on Win7 x64. No issues.

I remember getting this when it was $9 or so on D2D a couple months back. Installed all the unofficial patches but never got around to actually playing it (damn this backlog). This threads got me hyped about this game again though, so I look forward to trying it out this weekend.

True Blood is amazing (writing is way better than Bloodlines but Bloodlines is just a fun game so it's not fair to compare), but I guess it gets its dose of nerd hate because it's popular (judging from this thread).

True Blood gets hate because Tara is awful and there are a lot of bad storylines right now, including Sam's family, Jason + Crystal, and witches.

Only the vampire world building stuff in True Blood really works, with a hint of weres and shifters.

Yeah, I agree, that's why I'm not sure about Season 4.

So when I try to launch the game once before patching like the readme says, I get an error message saying "Engine Error - Less than 15MB!!!!!!!!" when I clearly have more than 15mb, what is wrong?

I had that issue before... reinstalled on my main C drive and it was fine.

Is there a patch for Full screen for windows 7 64 bit?

Yes.

I believe it's included with the community patch, just check the Extras folder in the Bloodlines directory. There is also the Res Patch at fileplanet.

I had the same issue, but the community patch took care of it. It's probably just a compatibility thing.

I swear, this thread is the most malicious troll ever to people who don't know about how Steam sales and daily deals work.

It's $14 for one of the greatest games ever made. Even if it goes down half-price from that it would hardly be some loss for the people who buy it now.

This is also the most ridiculous argument ever. $7 is not anything to be sniffed at. Fuckit, neither is $1. If there is a chance it can be bought for cheaper very soon, telling people to buy it now isn't cool, bra.

Yeah. By all means risk waiting but the game is worth it at just about any price.

You called it malicious when it's obviously nothing but good intent on the part of the original poster. And my point is that, regardless, people are coming away with a very good game at a price that is a steal - whether it's $14 or $7.

Or $20, which they've had the opportunity to buy it at for years.

Question - how do I know that I have successfully installed the Unoffical community patch?

There is nothing on screen like "Unofficial version 7.5" or anything like that so I am wondering if I installed it right - especially since I am on 64bit.

I know not so much for this game but it's funny when I see posts like this. Users always want to support the developers but they also want the game as cheap as possible.

And this is one of the worst uses of the word "troll" I've seen in a while now. The OP isn't trolling anybody to buy the game, he's just telling people a good game is on sale currently.

It does, but you need the community patch.

Dennis, I believe if you're on W7/64 and the game is runnning, then the patch installed. It wouldn't launch for me until I installed it.

Frost_Ace said:

Yes, I haven't run into any problems running it on a Windows 7 64-bit machine.

Edit: Like Snuggler mentioned, you will need to install the community patch first.

Ingame, hit 'C' or whichever key is assigned to the character sheet. Top left (?) corner should reveal if the patch has been installed.

If a developer voluntarily puts a product on sale...?

But I didn't even mention supporting a developer, myself. VMB is a product to be purchased. If it can be legally purchased for less, most people will want to do that. That theoretical $7 can buy other things. Or, more likely, combine with all the other $ saved from getting slightly cheaper options, adding up to quite a bit of extra disposable cash over a period of time.

If troika was alive i'd be there with you (and i'd have bought 7 more copies)
If Troika were still alive, we would've been ushered into a new era of utopian rpg gaming.

Being shutdown after putting out titles such as Arcanum and Vampire was such a cruel fate.

I want to be sure that my laptop can run this game. To make it easier for me to understand, are the requirements essentially the same as Half-Life 2?

I wouldn't usually ask, but there isn't a demo for me to make sure it will work.

Edit: My other question was already answered.

In this case, I don't think any money goes to the developers, anyways. Just straight to Activision. Maybe it'll be enough to pay for Bobby to get his BMW waxed.

Hey, but maybe if we all buy it, they will get the message that we want a sequel!

It's a Source engine game from 2004, so I think your odds are good.

What do people mean when they say wait for the daily deal? What's the difference between the stuff that's on sale today and the daily deal? Am I correct that all the sales will be availble the last day?

Bloodlines is on sale because Activision's entire catalog is on sale for the duration of the Steam sale. As of now, Bloodlines along with most of their catalog is 33% off. It's possible, but not guaranteed, that it could featured as a daily deal at a greater discount (like 66% off).

You'll definitely see Call of Duty on sale, and probably Blur and Singularity, but Bloodlines doesn't seem as likely unless Activision are aware of how many people are waiting for it.

Fuck, then I haven't installed the patch correctly because there is no "7.5 patch" message or anything.
