Following a six-month long investigative research project, the Center for American Progress released a 130-page report today which reveals that more than $42 million from seven foundations over the past decade have helped fan the flames of anti-Muslim hate in America.

The authors — Wajahat Ali, Eli Clifton, Matt Duss, Lee Fang, Scott Keyes, and myself — worked to expose the Islamophobia network in depth, name the major players, connect the dots, and trace the genesis of anti-Muslim propaganda.

The report, titled “Fear Inc.: The Roots Of the Islamophobia Network In America,” lifts the veil behind the hate, follows the money, and identifies the names of foundations who have given money, how much they have given, and who they have given to:

The money has flowed into the hands of five key “experts” and “scholars” who comprise the central nervous system of anti-Muslim propaganda:

FRANK GAFFNEY, Center for Security Policy – “A mosque that is used to promote a seditious program, which is what Sharia is…that is not a protected religious practice, that is in fact sedition.”

DAVID YERUSHALMI, Society of Americans for National Existence: “Muslim civilization is at war with Judeo-Christian civilization…the Muslim peoples, those committed to Islam as we know it today, are our enemies.”

DANIEL PIPES, Middle East Forum: “All immigrants bring exotic customs and attitudes, but Muslim customs are more troublesome than most.”

ROBERT SPENCER, Jihad Watch: “Of course, as I have pointed out many times, traditional Islam itself is not moderate or peaceful. It is the only major world religion with a developed doctrine and tradition of warfare against unbelievers.” [Source]

STEVEN EMERSON, Investigative Project on Terrorism: “One of the world’s great religions — which has more than 1.4 billion adherents — somehowsanctions genocide, planned genocide, as part of its religious doctrine.” [Source]

These five “scholars” are assisted in their outreach efforts by Brigitte Gabriel (founder, ACT! for America), Pamela Geller (co-founder, Stop Islamization of America), and David Horowitz (supporter of Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch). As the report details, information is then disseminated through conservative organizations like the Eagle Forum, the religious right, Fox News, and politicians such as Allen West and Newt Gingrich.

Over the past few years, the Islamophobia network (the funders, scholars, grassroots activists, media amplifiers, and political validators) have worked hard to push narratives that Obama might be a Muslim, that mosques are incubators of radicalization, and that “radical Islam” has infiltrated all aspects of American society — including the conservative movement.

To explain how the Islamophobia network operates, we’ve produced this video to show just one example of how they have mainstreamed the baseless and unfounded fear that Sharia may soon replace American laws:

Only 42 million?

I bet there is plenty more where that came from.

Exactly. The fearmongering propaganda campaign runs a lot deeper than that I bet. But look how effective it's been. Gobble gobble gobble.

EDIT: Also, funny video. Hope they do a full length documentary at a later time. Would love to see it, though I doubt I'd be surprised by any of it. Also, don't watch Fox News lol. You're just asking to be duped and filled with propaganda/misinformation if you do.

the central nervous system of anti-Muslim propaganda:

DANIEL PIPES, Middle East Forum: “All immigrants bring exotic customs and attitudes, but Muslim customs are more troublesome than most.”

If this is the worst example of "anti-muslim propaganda" they could find from the guy....

Oh God...here comes GAF's resident anti-Islamic propaganda campaigner. Will be interesting seeing what kind of posts, links and points you bring up in this one.

First one's already a gem. Ignore the main grunt of the article and research, all the terrible things it highlights and disseminates, and instead focus on one trivial and rather un-important point to try and downplay the importance of it all. CLASSIC xbhaskarx tact in action.

Is that the best you can do to deflect from the main topic .. ?

lol

Would you go as far as to say I'm "more troublesome than most" people on GAF, is that the "main grunt" of your comment? Your comment is far more inflammatory than that quote, are you part of "the central nervous system of anti-xbhaskarx propaganda"?

This shouldn't surprise anyone, as both 'sides' have been playing this political game for centuries and won't be letting up anytime soon.

Just telling it how it is dude. Your deflection tactics and anti-Islamic posts are getting pretty obvious these days. I don't even have to say anything for people to pick up on it. Your first post already got the ball rolling.

But as to not stray off topic or get too personal, lets just stick to the main topic at hand. We can talk over PM if you like?

P.S, my offer for you to come socialise and chill with me if you ever come down to London is still on the table. Sounds weird, but I feel good can come of it. At most we'd have some interesting debates and a laugh over good food and drink.

Look, THEY picked quotes from those individuals. Presumably they picked quotes that support their position that these people "comprise the central nervous system of anti-Muslim propaganda." So is that the best quote they could come up with? That all immigrant groups have their own unique customs and attitudes, but that Muslim customs are "more troublesome than most"? Based on the difficulty Muslim immigrants have when it comes to integration into mainstream society in various western countries, what about that observation is so offensive? Even if it's questionable or even incorrect, how is it "anti-Muslim propaganda"? So my question, which I believe to be entirely valid, is: is that really the best quote they could come up with?

Why did he say more troublesome than MOST? If his goal is to spread anti-Muslim propaganda, why not go with wording like Islam is "the most troublesome"? What about the other customs that are presumably even more troublesome than Islam given the wording, is he engaging in even worse anti-X propaganda against those cultures?

It is a moot and deflective point given the context of the article as a whole, which also has links to other video's and so forth that portrays the Islamaphobia in more detail.

If I was to guess why they cherry picked that particular quote, I'd imagine it was to highlight the alienation and discrimination towards the Muslim community even with respect to immigration (i.e, keep them out, they're more troublesome). Essentially trying to build the foundations to not even letting Muslims in let alone dealing with the one's that are already here.

Probably because he hates on Mexicans on the side too lol.
