So i got an email from xbox@engage.xbox.com telling me i got 600 free MS points for renewing my membership. Is this spam? They want me to login to my xbox account to claim the points... by doing so will I subject myself to thievery?

Look at the URL you have to click through for it, that will tell you whether it's fake or not.

No site will ever require you to type in your xbox live account info to get free points. If you get free points you would be provided with a code to redeem at xbox.com

What's the web address for the "Read this email online if it doesn't display correctly.", they are usually http://click.engage.xbox.com

If you want to test it:

- Go to Xbox.com
- Login there
- Now use the link in the email
- If you're already logged in at the site now, it's legit. Otherwise not.

Never give anyone your login info after clicking on a link in an email.

Gmail would warn you if the "sent from" email address was fake. Since it's not and the email really came from xbox.com, the email is probably real.
Make sure by checking the url given in the email - if it's on the official xbox domain or not.

Not every email is a phishing attempt guys.

Quickly edit out your image - it contains the serial in the URL part.
