Funny thing about Sawada: those sword moves he has were originally supposed to be regular moves jazzed up with a bit of motion blur; the SFTM Arcade devs intended for the big "whooshes" to flicker every other frame to simulate transparency, but Capcom wanted them to be solid because this was their MK-killer and that's how MK did things. Once the game came out everyone was confused by the big "whooshes" and thought he was carrying a sword or a lightsaber or something - including people back at Capcom, who ended up adding the katana to his sprites for the home console version.
