Sticky humid summer heat, or the bitter cold of winter

Will QA for food.
With Spring quickly approaching (and it's already here Toronto, for at least a couple of weeks), we've been having our annual discussion on whether having a humid summer is better than the cold of winter.

Personally, I'd take the cold. I enjoy the season, I can bundle up, it gives me reason to always be carrying a hot cup of coffee around. If it's a dry heat in the summer, I can tolerate, but once it's over 85f and the humidity makes the air have a pudding like thickness, you can count me out.

Bro - everything about the humid hot summer is better. Go down to the beach more often, go out and socialize more, ladies... dress down. You go camping, you have fun in the water - all the best stuff happens in summer.

No. While it's true summer brings everyone out, it's not a good thing. I prefer the select few who can brave the winters. Now I have to deal with bicycles all over the sidewalks, fat naked guys walking around and kids off from school in the summer.

We didnt even have a winter in the DC/MD/VA region. That said, winter because I dont have to turn on the heat because I live in a condo, and I get to wear stylish winter coats.

Last summer I went with some friends to the gay pride festival, unbeknownst to me it was the official lesbian day of the festival. Around 7pm, in the sweltering heat - it started to rain. Now - yes a lot of the ladies weren't the most... enticing, but quite a few (QUITE a few) were very young pretty girls. In tank tops because it was so hot. And it was raining. And some decided 'what the hell, it's a festival' - and took off their tops. The attractive ones.

Lets see that shit happen in the winter.

Cold. I can't stand the heat, sweating, stickiness, and especially the fucking mosquitoes.

Cold. Last time I checked, wearing a jacket was legal in public, and going naked with an air conditioner strapped to your chest wasn't.

I prefer the cold.

If you're outside and you're cold, its probably your own fault. If its 100 degrees out, getting naked ain't gonna help a damn thing.

It's just hit Autumn here, and already I'm dreading the next 6-9 months until summer starts again (and not just cause the EPL is finishing soon).

My dream is to own a home in Portugal or Spain. That way, the instant the NRL and autumn come and shit up the newspapers and the weather here in Australia, I can take off to other side of the world and enjoy their summer.

Fuck winter.

So glad I don't have to put things like this into consideration. ;)

Cold, definitely. Nothing better than climbing under a thick blanket in just your boxers and slowly warming up. Feels good man all the way.

But I wouldn't blame high temps for sleepless nights. Its always humidity that makes it unbearable. I can deal with warm dry nights.

As a human, I am able to cover myself in fashionable layers in winter to get warmer. Not much can do to cool off on a humid day.

:p Regardless. Summer I can walk around in a tank top and not be a douche, cause everyone is hot. I can be out for a long time without freezing my ass off (I probably have a higher than average threshold for heat) - fun outdoors, walking around in the middle of the night downtown after a fun night out at a bar, camping... just so many awesome things to do in the sweltering heat. And if it gets too hot, pools and water fights.

Humidity is the worst thing in the world. I can't even go outside in the summer because it's so fucking humid here I get all sweaty and gross and disgusting within seconds. Ugh. And then I don't get to sleep because there's still no air anywhere.

People who prefer humidity are not right in the head.

That gets hot enough to sweat with sun, 50s with no wind and some sun is perfect

I'll meet you at 60 even. That's as low as I'll go, I mean I'm really losing temperature right here.

umm, los angeles.

sorry

I lived in southern California last summer, and it was the most comfortable summer weather I've ever experienced (I'm from Michigan). I laughed when people back home wee complaining about humidity and record highs while it was pretty much always 75 and sunny where I lived in California. Only downside is the lack of summer rainstorms.

Absolutely. I'd take -40 deg Celsius over a hot and humid Summer day. All you need to do is dress for the weather. I hate heat/humidity.

Couldn't study and complete my assignment cause I was sweating like a pig in the lab. In fact, almost everyone left due to it.

I don't mind any weather as long as the temperature in the room is maintained. Damn you Toronto for confusing my emotions!

I live in southern Indiana, so I'm prone to getting the absolute worst of both.

We got let off the hook this winter. We had no bitter cold.. but it was cloudy, dreary, and rained just about every damn day.

As someone who has had to deal with -25 degree temperatures from late November to pretty much now, fuck the cold and give me 40 degrees of tropical heat. When it is that cold, you just simply don't want to go anywhere because you can't go 15 minutes without your hands resembling icicles or ice forming on your eyes. In tropical weather you can drink lots of fluids, usually have access to swimming to cool off and have the potential for a sea breeze to cool you off. The only relief in Inner Mongolia is the brief period the Siberian wind doesn't kick your ass.

Cold all the way. Always have preferred it, always will.
Which is weird because it doesn't get TOO cold in Missouri (where I am from), but I've always liked it and spending the last couple years in Texas, Mississippi, Korea, and South Carolina, it just makes me appreciate the cold even more. It's gonna suck settling down in the Philippines later.

Fuck the heat. Fuck the humidity.
Can't fucking stand it.

The AC is set at 60 degrees in my apartment at all times from beginning of Spring to the end of Fall.
