Bulletstorm sequel shelved, People Can Fly on new project

Searched, didn't see.

Lock if old.

A Bulletstorm follow-up was in the works before Epic Games moved Polish developer People Can Fly to a new project, president Mike Capps told GameSpot this weekend at PAX East.

"We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly," he said. "We haven't announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon."

"I'd love to go back [to Bulletstorm]," he added. "I think there's more to do with Bulletstorm. Heck, it kind of ended wanting more. I'd love to see another project, but right now we don't have anything to talk about."

Regarding the original Bulletstorm, Capps said the foul-mouthed first-person shooter didn't live up to publisher Electronic Arts' expectations.

"I think Bulletstorm was very critically successful, and I think a lot of folks really enjoyed seeing something new," he said. "From a sales perspective it was good, but not amazing. I think EA was hoping we'd do better."

Capps also claimed that the PC version of Bulletstorm was hurt by piracy, but also admitted that it was a less than stellar port which may have hurt sales, too.

"We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn't do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy. It wasn't the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem."

There was a rumor in OXM a few months ago suggesting that PCF is working a prequel Gears of War trilogy.

Don't mind them ditching the sequel for a new project, IF the new project is a new IP.

Meh at a Gears of War prequel.

I thought it was massively overrated. Nice mechanics, but I stopped giving a shit after about 3 hours in. Your typical cult game, IMO.

I bought it, but late. GFWL and the whole shitty port thing kept me away. Oh well, I really like what I've played.

That sucks. It was one of the most fun and innovative FPS this gen. Now we can look forward to more cookie cutter garbage. I'd like to "thank" everyone who didn't give this game a chance.

I didn't think there would even be talks of a sequel.

Which is a shame, because Bulletstorm is seriously one of the best FPSes I've ever played.

Probably would have done better if 80% of the copies of the game didn't have the bottom of a boot as the cover.

I actually just started playing bulletstorm. It seems like the right way to do a linear shooter; there's a right mix of dumb fun, speed, and complexity in gameplay.

This is a bit disappointing, then.

Bought this game for a buddy and myself this weekend for $10 from best buy. Played about 2 hours of it and enjoy it so far. Trying to figure out different ways to kill is interesting.

Fucking dick-tits.

It's a shame, this was one of my top 5 shooters last year. As Wario said, hope their next project is a new IP, although I guess I wouldn't mind a Gears prequel.

If that were true, it would be weird not having Epic do Gears.

That's if Pussyzilla can fit through the door!
HA! Oh god, I'm sorely tempted to boot this game up tonight.

This really hurts. :(
It really does sting, though. The end of the game sets up perfectly for a sequel. Bulletstorm is one of those rare games simply in love with the feel and act of being a balls-to-the-wall videogame. It felt strangely like a Nintendo game in that respect. Just so tongue-in-cheek, full of heart! I loved it. :)

This was my problem with Bulletstorm. After a couple hours I had already unlocked all the guns so there was so reason to bother with the combo system.

Shit fucking sucks. If it's something ios related or another stupid Gears trilogy I'll kick over every magazine rack I come across for a month.

Grayson: "Man, we've spent half this trip swimming"
Triska: "Yet you still reek like sun-baked asshole."
Grayson: "What a coincidence, that's the name of Ishi's cologne."

:(

Ugh. At least he admits it wasn't a good port.

I enjoyed the hell out of the game, but 60$ really didn't seem like the correct starting MSRP for any platform and the demo was pretty lame.

I am interested in whatever PCF makes next though because they are improving with each game they create.

IT WAS THOSE SOUTHERN ISLAND PIRATES, THEY RUINED EVERYTHING... EVERYTHING! *oh, uh it also might have sucked donkey balls too when we ported it*

Expected, since they've already said they have "no plans" (or something along those lines) for a sequel. It's a bummer, since I adore Bulletstorm, but hopefully PCF's talents won't go to waste on their next project.

Originally bought it for GoW3 beta. Ended up with an amazing gem of a game. Sucks there's no sequel, though I get why.
