It means Namco Bandai’s new title has to settle for No2 spot. This places it just ahead of ‘Guild Wars 2’ (-16%) which slips to No7 while ‘Dead Island GOTY Edition’ (-2%) holds on to No8 spot. It may not be time for the new FIFA just yet but EA Sports enters the Top 10 with ‘NHL 13’ landing at No9.

A price drop for ‘Max Payne 3’ (+129%) sees Rockstar/Take 2’s title propel itself back up from No48 to No10 this week. Outside the Top 10 ‘Battlefield 3 Premium’ is at No42. The title which includes all 5 expansion packs and premier membership is available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

Tekken is still a Playstation franchise! Well, only just, and it'll probably even out in the coming weeks, but still. Interesting to see.

Charts are still very much slow moving at the moment though. I bet retailers are getting very impatient for the big releases to start flowing again.

We already have a new thread, thanks for being so efficient dabra.

I don't know how to judge the opening of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, we know that it has sold below 14,000 units but probably quite over 7,000 units.

Tales of Graces F has a great hold in France, unfortunately we can't say the same in the UK (from 14 to 22 PS3 chart). It's LTD sales after 3 weeks should be around 6,500.

Poor Darksiders II is collapsing week after week.

So far Capcpom have only released 2 titles as 'updates' to a previous one on disc...I don't think that counts as milking it dry @3@

Terrible numbers as expected for Tekken, next is Dead or Alive, it will probably bomb even more, on amazon.co.uk the best one of the two versions is at the 596 place. Amazon is not good obviously to understand sales, but to understand bomba it is. Good for me however, waiting for the inevitable price drop so that I can buy both.

You shouldn't IMO, in this situation is not doing that bad in UK and sales in continental Europe count as well, so it's probably doing better than any other Tales released in the last years.

It has sold like 7k in the UK... I dunno how the French market is but I would be surprised if it's even done 50k in Europe.

Do people expect more for this game? I think shipping 100k of this will be a success for Namco Bandai, without any marketing, localization only in three language, ecc...No?

Thanks! I've actually searched for Tales of Vesperia before saying anything about Tales of Graces F. I think Ninokuni has even more potential to sell really weel IMO, especially in continental Europe, if only the game was out before Christmas and with marketing by Sony with the new cheap PS3...right now is a little wasted in January...

PS2 didn't launch in the UK until November 24, 2000. Tekken Tag Tournament was the highest selling launch game;

Tekken Tag Tournament (Namco, SCEE) -15,575

Chart-Track only covered 75% of the console market then though, compared to 90% today.

Not sure about that, how famous are the studio Ghibli films in UK? I think however you are probably right, Ps3 users are probably more varied in continental Europe than UK. Kids will have an important part in the possible success of the game and maybe more of them have a Ps3 in continental Europe.

I'm not sure it's doing well, but it's doing better than everything else over there. Thankfully Mario is bombing, which hopefully sends a message to Nintendo. It'll have legs like most Marios, but clearly isn't a 3DS or XL system seller. Darksiders 2 came out alongside Sleeping Dogs and has fallen way down the charts, which is fine by me since the game turned out to be pretty mediocre. Shame about that.

For a game that most people didn't expect to be any good, I'd say beating Mario is doing well compared to expectations

...And how do you know it isn't selling systems? I think it's selling systems right now. Otherwise, we'd have already seen it being out of top 5 and near the bottom of top 10 without significant releases out. Being so high should mean it's selling systems too.

Outside of anime fans and cinephiles it's not really something the average parent would be aware of.

Let's look at the latest Studio Ghibli film to be released in the West, Arrietty, according to Wikipedia;

In France, the film was well received by the public. More than 100,000 people went to catch the film on its debut week in France,[30] allowing the film to gross more than US$1.4 million that week.[31] Overall, ticket sales for Arrietty, le petit monde des chapardeurs in France totaled just shy of 740,000 between its release on January 12, 2011, and March 1, 2011.[30] In the United Kingdom, the film generated £76,000 ($120,232) in its first weekend.

From average ticket prices I'd estimate around 10k went to see it in the UK on opening weekend compared to 100k in France. It certainly has a lot more potential in France and other European countries than the UK, but a lot will come down to how much NB market it.

It seems that we still love portable consoles though I hardly ever meet people carrying them outside their homes. That's why it's easy to have the impression that no one cares about portable console gaming anymore.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
XL didnt do much for the 3DS as a whole...3 titles, 3 times mario everything alse just doesnt sell in UK. Sucks...
