"IT'S NOT THE SAME GAME! IT'S NOT THE SAME CONTENT"

Post stupid quotes by videogame execs/developers/etc. in here.

I'll start it off:
Reggie Fils Aime on Batman: Arkham City said:
It's not the same game! It's not the same content!
Ken Kutaragi on PlayStation 3 said:
[...]for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.

"The FEEL of 60" - Ninja Theory guy on DmC's 30 fps action

Cane to post this. I don't give a flying crap about DMC; but I do care about 60fps. Wha a stupid comment.

When asked about the $249 launch price of the PSP Go, SCEE president Andrew House said:
"when you introduce a new piece of hardware you have the opportunity to say there is a certain premium that is associated with it, and we took that into account."

There's no price drop formally, but the thing that's been happening in the market over the last year or so is that there's been so many retail price promotions, and so many different gift card offers and all those things, being done by all of us (Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony), that we've heard from our consumer, "Enough with all these weird price moves. What we really want is content and games and value".

John Koller, Sony Computer Entertainment America's VP of marketing, on the new PS3 Slim price.

Ian Livingstone, 62 year old president of Eidos Life regarding Tomb Raider sexual content

I think about my responsibility as a developer - films can deal with these themes, but it's different in games when the user controls the action.

A reminder that some old people still don't understand the narrative power and freedom of video games as a progressive art form, and some of these old people are still in control of many publishers, thus limiting the range of the art form.

These people with outdated ideas need to be ousted from their positions so the art form can progress and mature and tackle issues of varying weight and importance.

I believe Vanquish is the game that a boat-load of GAFers have praised in threads for being "60fps action" without realizing its locked at 30. I could be extremely cynical and say that most people can't tell the difference without side-by-side comparisons or that expectancy effects plays a huge role in their enjoyment, or I could try to be generous and say that it's possible to get a lot of what people want out of a 60fps game just by making sure the controls are crisp and the character's actions are highly responsive. I might go on to suggest that this is what the quote in question is talking about.

WTF?

When was a game in an established franchise ever going to be a posterchild for pushing forward the artistic boundaries of gaming?

Snowden is right - Reggie has far dumber quotes, but am not sure thats a good thing! :p
NoA really got the line up at E3 wrong, thats pretty clear now. Wonderful 101 would have been the better third party lead.

I like Reggie but hes not the best at getting across what he wants to say and I think at times hes unsure what audience hes speaking to.

Theres lots of quotes from stupid devs, but am struggling to think of any big new ones from the Big 3.
Jack Tretton has historically the best ofc:

"If you can find a PS3 anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1200 bucks for it."

Its just amazing.
Hopefully once PS4/720 are coming we'll have a lot more fun :)

I usually don't let things said by game execs get to me, and I normally love Reggie (I'm coasting off good will mustered by E3 2010, I guess), but that Arkham City quote infuriarates me. It's such a blatantly sloppy deception. I guess I feel a little better knowing that if someone buys Arkham City on WiiU, at least they're buying a damn good game -- one of the best action-adventure titles ever made, in fact -- but for Reggie to act like it's something more than a souped-up director's cut? GTFO.

I still don't get that conference (Nintendo's E3 2012 presser). It started with so much promise: gorgeous NSMBU and Pikmin 3. Then it devolved into Wii U Fit and Sing (complete with embarassing promos/dance routines involving people who don't play videogames), and other nonsensical shit, all while Project P-100/The Wondeful 101, their best game of the show (and one of the best games of E3, period) gets sidelined and relegated to a post-conference reveal.

Ugh. No time to revisit this shit, lol.

I thought the "What's wrong with you?" thing was a joke. I thought he mouthed something close to it and someone just layered those words over the gif...wow. What the fuck? Why would you say that to consumers?

oh for sure, never probably lol. it's not really tomb raider i was speaking to... just, changing the general attitude of the aging corporate to be more progressive and open minded.

"Our view of the ‘Game Boy experience’ is that it’s a great babysitting tool, something young kids do on airplanes, but no self-respecting twenty-something is going to be sitting on an airplane with one of those… He’s too old for that."
Jack Tretton

Well, Reggie is... terrible.

If you call yourself a gamer and don't have a DS or 3DS yet (which is where that came from) that's a pretty damn valid question.

Reggie: The Conduit will be the Halo of the Wii.

This is the epitome.

Oh come on. It wasn't that bad. At least they ended it with a bang!

Iwata on Wii said:
When you turn on Revolution and see the graphics, you will say 'wow'!

Any quote about Nintendo products being only for kids just shows how fucking pathetic the state of the industry still is. Those people are only hurting the brands they represent.

I'll just go ahead and say it; 60fps has become nothing but a shallow talking point now. It's become increasingly delegitimized by a number of people who just throw the phrase out there with little substance to their argument, and most of them don't even know what the fuck it means. They just say it ding devs on their games. It's childish.
