"IT'S NOT THE SAME GAME! IT'S NOT THE SAME CONTENT"

oh for sure, never probably lol. it's not really tomb raider i was speaking to... just, changing the general attitude of the aging corporate to be more progressive and open minded.

The problem is that those who believe they can create an artistic game usually wayy over estimate their ability to tell a story. Its hilarious hearing some of them.

Meanwhile they basically copy Hollywood thinking thats somehow artistic of them, and their B-movie premises and 12 year old understanding of character development is truely 'art form'.

It puts me off the whole prospect.
First thing these people should do - work out humour. When a game comes out with the level of laughs, and great characters of Kid Icarus - its an art form; art doesn't have to be depressing, it doesn't have to raise questions - it just has to be emotive and personal.

for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else.

I can't decide if this is really that stupid or not. I mean, isn't he just saying he wants people to really desire owning their product? He's saying he wants what Apple has, in that it doesn't fucking matter how much it costs, people just want the Iphone 5.

A few years later Sony releases the Move...

I loved Penny Arcade so much for calling them out on it:

I just know I wouldn't play the handheld in public, so it'd be something I just use at home, so what's the point of picking up one?

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?" explained Hirai.

I hear the PS4 is eschewing this belief.

I don't really follow handheld news that close, but there are some games that interest me. The Phoenix Wright games have always looked pretty cool, same with Layton games. I used to love the Pokeman games when I was younger, and I'm curious if the new ones are good. Is there like a compilation where I can see the best of the 3DS/DS (3DS is BC, right?) ?

Neogaf 3DS thread

Before I check out that thread, two quick questions:

-Is the XL the best one to go with?

-Is the new Pokemans any good?

Can that "etc" include a random gaffer? If so:

"If you call yourself a gamer and don't have a DS or 3DS yet (which is where that came from) that's a pretty damn valid question." (Referring to "What's wrong with you?")

XL is best to go with yeah; such a big difference.
Pokemon remains Pokemon; but I've not played the most recent yet; still high quality stuff though from what I hear.

Yes, the XL solves alot of the issues the original 3DS had. Well worth the difference in cost.

My only concern was/is, doesn't the games look blurry since the screen size increases, but not the resolution? (As for the XL itself, it's pretty sexay as hardware.)

I haven't played one forever...kind of want to now.

Damn it Gaf! Why do you make me want to constantly spend money!?

Well, if your primary game is Pokémon, you're gonna get pixels either way. For 3DS game, it's not that big of deal imo.

No, I would be trying to play everything the system has to offer, Pokeman was just a side thought. I have no idea what game I'd pick up with the thing. OOT seems like a cool choice, as I don't remember shit from that game pretty much besides the ending and a few points.

I checked that thread, and (like I said I'm a handheld noon so be easy) it had MGS 3 listed...I thought that version was dogshit?

GIANT ENEMY CRAB!!!

Genji:_Days_of_the_Blade

The game is infamous for starting the "Giant Enemy Crab" meme, after the producer referred to the game as "based on actual Japanese history,

So the guy that we're really targeting our system at this year is one of the guys who brought a 16bit system three or four years ago and has pretty much had it with that, and he's ready to buy something new.

- Trip Hawkins, shortly before the 3DO went on sale in the US.

He said that?

"We think [we'll] win over the Halo audience with something like The Conduit, a multi-player, online, shooting experience, or Dead Space Extraction. And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus."

Edit: Didn't see that other post.

Its basically listing all the games available, MGS3 isn't very good based on the demo I played; but I think if you have the circle pad pro its...playable.

Much like any system you'll have to read up on games and whether their for you; if your just starting out, theres enough content across the DS/3DS to make the purchase well worth it imo; start of with one or two games and grow from there.

OOT/Kid Icarus/Mario 3D Land/Resident Evil Revelations are all great choices for 'starting out'.

Oh man, I don't wish to ever be in such a situation, where the fan base will never live a mistake down. Would drive me crazy, considering how many times I already said something wrong.
Kinda similar to this, I still liked the rant thats hidden in the "The New Tetris" ROM. Special mention goes to the producer, who really did nothing but playing games and said to his employee that he has to save the name in 8.4 Bits.

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, [...] I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that."

Phil Harrison, Sony, 2005.

I had a DS and traded it in to get my 3DS, and I can easily see someone not owning either. There are some game genres not fully represented on either for a start.

Yeah, there are many genres either not represented on Nintendo handhelds or very, very poorly represented. If you don't like Japanese or Nintendo games, there's no real reason to pick one up.
