In a quiet week for new releases Microsoft’s Xbox 360 edition of ‘Minecraft’ (-22%) remains at No2 while ‘FIFA 13’ (-24%) climbs a spot to take No3. Surprised to see Project X Zone charting at all, especially in the UK. Sure, the numbers for the later spots are low, but considering what the game is, the 3DS still must have some good momentum going on right now.

Geez we get it, Game and Wario, a game who wasn't marketed and that got bad reviews, didn't do well.

Good for ND, but it's not that impressive when you look at the titles launched these last weeks.

I usually give 3DS shit for having no 3rd party games selling on it in the west but for such a niche title, PXZ did quite well.

Amazing result for TLOU, and I don't doubt it'll stand at the top or around it for quite a while. Especially since the game still seems to be in short demand and has multiplayer.

Also Sony knew damn well why they called the new GoW, Ascension. Some great legs for a GoW title. Seems like multiplayer is helping which is great because for the new GoW game they won't have to spend so much time making it, seeing that they did a test run here.

Good to see Deadpool still hanging on,in there.

Excellent achievement for The Last of Us too. Sony played it smart releasing it just as the summer drought began.

Uncharted 2 in 09 i think and GOW 3 [?]

It will be no 1 in US and the numbers should be above 600k easily and 1 million is a possibility as well at max.

GOW3 was March 2010.

Nice legs for the last of us. It may not have as much competition but I thought it would be a lot more front loaded. It's all still selling at full price everywhere so It's doing very well

I meant in the German chart. Game and Wario was at 49 I think and Toki to tawa was higher. Bruno mentioned in the last thread.

These graphs show the market share of hardware systems from January to March this year. The top bar represents Japan, the one below it is the U.S., the third one is Europe and the last one shows the sum of Japan, the U.S. and Europe. Red represents the market share of Nintendo 3DS. It's referring to Europe too, not just US, without June included. And we've seen the impact of June (aka AC) in France: the console sold 290k from Jan to June, with a solid increase compared to the 238k for Jan-June 2012. And this despite the slow beginning of the year (first three months second, behind PS3).

Crazy enough, when they started releasing decent games for the 3DS, it's started doing well. How they released nothing for 3DS from September to March for it outside Paper Mario and couldn't comprehend why it wasn't doing well is baffling.

The rest of this year is beastly though.

The problem they have is the same Sony is facing. They both have 2 consoles out there, at least one of which has no significant 3rd party support (though you could argue that outside of Japan 3DS has very little 3rd party support too). So you need to dedicate resources to it, but at the same time this will take away from other resources you have for you other consoles. For Sony, they need to launch PS4 in such a way to create momentum over Xbone and so their first party is dedicated to that, leaving Vita with almost nothing. For Nintendo, they had to make sure 3DS was success after the disasterous launch and suddenly they have limited resources to support to the Wii U as well (which is evident from MK8 not releasing this year).

Sony created a lot of new IPS this gen but the only 2 that where massive hits are the 2 created by ND. That's one hell of a track record and really puts into perspective what a valuable asset they are for sony these days.
Of course other franchises did decent numbers like killzone, LBP and Heavy Rain, but ND were the only ones to create something to rival the big established franchises, GT and GoW.
Coming up with something new that is both well received by the press and the mass market is no easy task these days and ND did it twice in just as many attempts.
When you look at the amount of studios that are working under sony and realize that noone else managed to create something with the mass appeal of the big third party franchises it really puts it into perspective. Very impressive.

Above 1 million would make it the best selling game of the year, thus far. I don't think its likely.

Even 600K NPD on a single platform this year will be a stretch, although an achievable one. I think only three or four games thus far this year have managed 600K+ all-formats.

Injustic > 700k

Bioshock infinte > 850k

Nintend needs to analyse Q 1 through Q2 of the 3DS in NA and EU closely. They can rejuvinate a platform with steady releases.
