PAL Charts - Week 27, 2013

Gamasutra.
Let me preface this by saying, I'm not sure I believe the past week's data. The ASP for last week was apparently £39.08. That's the highest one-week ASP I've ever seen, and way higher than most software on the market...

UK Software
Week ending 6 July 2013
Revenue: £6.52mm
Units: 166,822

YTD Revenue: £279.9mm (-15.6%)
YTD Units: 11.50mm (-19.2%)

Started falling behind again this week, much more quickly because the units last week were terrible.

The order of platforms in top 20...is based on sales or not?

I think you're right about the ordering, but I'm not sure.

And I'll get to pixel counting soon. I have something else on my plate at the moment. :)

Ah, ok, I can wait. ;)
About the ordering...looking at it carefully, there's something wrong, probably.
I mean, how could PC have been the best selling platform for Bioshock Infinite or, the big one, how is it possible that the 3DS version of FIFA was the third best selling SKU? But, actually, the ordering after PS360 doesn't seem to correspond to the supposed reality

Just looking at Guardian's Top 20 for June weeks

The order has always been 360-PS3-Vita-Wii

I suppose Q1 would be between Week 13 to Week 26, no?

If anyone can help me, it'd be fantastic :)
I think I've got it done. Here we go:
Week 13 36.167
Week 14 47.187
Week 15 40.474
Week 16 39.289
Week 17 40.128
Week 18 47.532
Week 19 45.015
Week 20 42.349
Week 21 35.933
Week 22 38.5
Week 23 39.585
Week 24 40.967
Week 25 40.967
Week 26 49.654

I think it should be week 14 - week 26, but I'm not sure. (I included 13 because Mpl90 asked for it.)

The total for week 14 - week 26 is 547.6K.

What was this for?

Edit: Were you comparing to 3DS shipments in "Other" during 1Q 2012? If so, that was 530K.

So they sold more than they shipped. Seems Q2 shipment could be larger, which is what Mpl90 was hinting at, I think.

^ What's these numbers? 3DS weekly sales?

Those have been 3DS weekly numbers last year, in Q1 (Week 13/14- Week 26, 2012). I asked to pixel count them, for trying to understand how much 3DSes they could ship for this year Q1. Thanks to jvm for doing the pixel counting :D But, thinking about it, what jvm did can be useful for something else. First, the original purpose of this.

Iwata specifically stated that for April and May, both in Europe and US

While the sales of other game systems decreased because of generational change, Nintendo 3DS sold as much as and in some cases even more than last year. It is crucial that we first do everything within reach during this fiscal term.

This means that in both territories, 3DS has been at least flat YOY in April and May. So, we know they sold at least 547.6k. Since June will be heavily influenced by Animal Crossing like, as said by Iwata, happened in US, this is for sure a low limit. Considering the sales in US (114k+114k), and in Japan for the comparable period (681,365, Media Create), we know the console sold 1,456,965 in Q1. This, without knowing how much sold in US in June and using the lowest limit possible for Europe. Given the Q4 shipment, which was very low due to the overshipment for Holidays, shipments shouldn't be lower than the amount of units actually sold.
Then, it all depends on how Animal Crossing boosted the platform. With the 4x claim for US in its debut week, given the extrapolated average per week in May (28.5k), we have at least 88k for AC's debut week (let's say 22k for the week before, due to anticipation). Assuming 50% drops for the following weeks (44k, then 22k again), it'd be 176k till Week 26. Remind, this is the lowest amount possible. With that, the lowest amount of sales possible is 1,633,000. If Animal Crossing gives enough boost, units sold could be around 1,900,000 in US+Europe+Japan. With other regions being counted, it could be at 2,000,000, if not a little over that. This all generated by what Bole said in the interview, despite it was probably numbers pulled from his ass :lol

Now, there's another thing we can use 3DS estimates for (and probably, a concrete use): Iwata stated that April/May sales were flat, if not higher. Let's just think they were flat.

April - Week 14-17: 167,078
May - Week 18-21: 170,829

Thanks to them and these share graphs

slide03_l.jpg

slide04_l.jpg

we can estimate the lowest limit for other platforms in April and May.

For example, PS3 shares in April and May

PS3 April Share - 26.14%
PS3 May Share - 25.57%

This translates into

PS3 Lowest limit for April - 189,888
PS3 Lowest limit for May - 174,724

Consider that I didn't use pixel counting, just proportions and the measures of the graph, so it probably isn't as exact as it should be. Still, it'd be a starting point, I think

Well done, Mpl90.

So glad I decided to start hanging out in PAL Charts threads. I get more exposure to things outside of my U.S. comfort zone. :)

First infos on UK

It's week five for The Last of Us at No.1. The PS3 exclusive continues to dominate and will continue to dominate because there's almost nothing out for retailers to sell this summer.

There was one game of note out this week, Nintendo RPG Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. The 3DS game makes No.3 and continues the fine run of decent games for the handheld platform, which has enjoyed a big uptick in sales thanks to a string of big releases.

Retailers have been cutting prices here, there and everywhere, too. As a result Aliens: Coloniarl Marines has crawled back into the Top Ten at No.10 (up 12 places).

Oh, and there was one other new game to talk about this week. At No.39 comes the second add-on t0 Civilization V – Brave New World.

The GfK Chart-Track Top 20 for Week 28:
1: The Last of Us – Sony
2: Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Nintendo
3. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros – Nintendo
4. FIFA 13 – EA
5. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition – Microsoft
6. Far Cry 3 – Ubisoft
7. Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Activision
8. Assassin's Creed III – Ubisoft
9. Tomb Raider – Square Enix
10. Aliens: Colonial Marines – Sega
11. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Legendary – Bethesda Softworks
12. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes – Warner Bros
13. Need for Speed: Most Wanted – EA
14. Luigi's Mansion 2 – Nintendo
15. The Sims 3: Island Paradise
16. Deadpool – Activision
17. Grand Theft Auto IV – Rockstar
18. God of War: Ascension – Sony
19. Injustice: Gods Among Us – Warner Bros
20: LEGO: The Lord of the Rings – Warner Bros

Bye bye Project X Zone :( You did your job, though.

In the other thread, I'll make a chart comparison between PxZ and other niche Namco titles released recently in UK.

EDIT: Pokémon re-enters due to being discounted at 24.99 on Amazon (official price was 29.99), Virtua Tennis finally enters...it had better to do it, at 4.99.
