Overview said:
Cosmic Star Heroine is a turn-based sci-fi Japanese-style RPG from Zeboyd Games currently scheduled to come out in 2014 for the PC, Mac, PS4, and Vita!

Alyssa L’Salle is one of the galactic government’s top agents and always manages to save the day! But when she accidentally uncovers a dark conspiracy, her own government outs her as a legendary spy and the people’s champion! Sure, now she has hordes of adoring fans but every villainous organization she’s ever crossed in her career knows who she is and is out for her blood! Can she save the day once more while she faces her greatest challenge… Everyone!?

Good old-fashioned classic turn-based RPG!
Save anywhere! Minimal grinding (unless you want to)!
Brisk pacing that respects your time!
No separate battle screen! Battles take place directly in the dungeons & areas that you explore!
2D visual style straight from the height of gaming's 16-bit era!
Animated cutscenes reminiscent of the Sega CD & Turbo Duo era!
Soundtrack by Hyperduck (Dust: An Elysian Tail, Precipice of Darkness 4) inspired by the genre greats!
Multi-character combo techniques!
Intricately designed encounters make each new battle its own challenge!
Your own spy headquarters! Recruit new agents to help it grow!

Gameplay said:
Turn-based combat!
Four character active party!
Non-grid-based 2D exploration (diagonals! woohoo!)!
Battles take place directly on the maps that you explore! Where you fight may influence what happens in battle!
Upgradeable spy headquarters!
Character LV-Up system allows customization while still making each character unique!
Characters can also be further customized with equipment & support characters (allies that hang out at your spy headquarters who don't go out into the field with your main characters).
Multiple difficulty levels so you can fine-tune the experience to fit your own playstyle!
Multi-character combo techniques!
And much, much more!

So how are we planning on using the projected $100,000? Here's a rough estimate:

In addition to any money raised through this kickstarter, we'll also be adding our own money from revenue of our previous games to the pile.

Posting from the other thread...

Ancient cave like Lufia 2?!?!?!?

Hell, skip it for this game a make your next game based solely on that idea, was actually thinking how awesome a fleshed out version of that would be last night, lol.

If I had a gaming company, technical prowess or any skill in programming that is what my game would look like.

I don't back Kickstarters on principle but that doesn't mean that I don't wish you the best of luck with this one. Game looks great and I can't wait to give it a go.

Whoa, I love the backgrounds.

Can't wait. Loved Cthulhu saves the world.

EDIT - They made Breath of Death in 3 months? Impressive.

So this megaton is why gaf was down? ;)

100.000 should be doable. Like the artdirection and the screenshots look cool. Good luck guys, unfortunately i can't use Kickstarter.

Backed! Really looking forward to this game. One of my most anticipated titles.

They had me at Suikoden style base building.

You guys have no plans for stretch goals or are you only going to talk about that when the game gets funded?

I actually hope they don't do stretch goals. If they get more money than what is asked for then use that to give this game the time it deserves and spill the remaining funds into the sequel or next project.

I really like the look of this game because I miss 16-bit RPGs, and the music sounds awesome too.

I'll be definitely backing this.

Thanks again :)

We aren't putting a massive list of stretch goals, rather, whatever we (hopefully) reach after the initial funding line we would put towards making the game itself more polished, and adding additional free DLC after the game's release (like we did with CSTW). One idea we had was a mini-Roguelike mode ala Lufia 2's Ancient Cave, but really it just boils down to meeting the major funding goal first. :)

Either no stretch goals or talking about it is fine by me. The project looks cool enough to stand it's ground without shit like extra modes dangling in front of them.

Backed. So stoked about the vita version. How about porting the old games for PS4 and Vita as a stretch goal?

We really don't have hard plans for the other games on new platforms right now, of course, since our focus is on CSH. But if CSH goes well, having that PS4/Vita experience certainly makes more options a possibility.

I bought Breath of Death VII on launch day, and it's really amazing to see you guys expand your scope and particularly how amazing your art has gotten, Bill. The project looks to be quite advanced already! And from a KS standpoint, having a lot of assets, being transparent about your budget, and also keeping your personal salary costs low is a very ethical way to approach things. 100k is a steal.

Best of luck with the KS.

Thats fine by me a refreshing change regarding stretch goals, you guys have sold me on what you've described as is. I'd much prefer to see extra funds go towards extra polish or new projects.

Will the PS4 and Vita version be cross buy or do you have to buy them separately?

I'm okay with double dipping but I'm curious.

Sounds good. Some KS get so bloated with extra content and modes that the scope seemingly gets away from them. Good to hear that isn't the plan here.

Also I mentioned awhile back about "massive battles" a la Suikoden and you or Robert found that to be an interesting idea, just wanted to follow up on that and see if such a thing was happening in Cosmic Star Heroine?

Yeah, I think that's an awesome idea but it's just a matter of figuring out if we can do it well & integrate them into the story.

Cross-buy.

Thanks so much, I really do work hard at trying to improve myself. And yeah the KS page was a ton of work. These things definitely take quite some time and effort to put together!

We want to set up cross-buy and cross-save, so that's the plan!

Yeah we're trying to avoid bloating the concept with theoretical stretch goals. Bloating can really delay a project or change its focus. We just want to make the game we're promising up front and do it as well as possible.

As for the Suikoden elements, we are primarily focusing on the base building aspect. But we're considering what we might do regarding larger battles, so nothing hard-set to report on that front :)
