Four Player co-op multiplayer. No PVP.

Official MP Gameplay Trailer

Video and info on IGN.

Inquisition’s story is an enormous, 200 hour commitment for completists, so BioWare wants multiplayer to work in short 20-30 minute bursts. Each of the three multiplayer campaigns available at launch randomly generates a large level comprised of smaller sections. you’ll fight through five of 10 pre-designed areas in one go, each with distinct variables. Next time, you may see the same stage in a new spot, or an entirely different collection of arenas entirely, all with different enemy encounters, ideally making multiplayer missions replayable indefinitely.

Will playing MP be required to get the full-game experience?

· No. The SP campaign is separate from MP. In SP, you have the support of three specialists who can send agents to missions. MP characters are agents. At the start of a MP mission, you will hear one of the specialists explaining the goal of your mission.

Is MP going to affect my endings in SP?

· No. Absolutely not. Our goal with Dragon Age multiplayer is not to affect your SP campaign. We simply want to give our fans the chance to play with their friends for the first time in the Dragon Age universe.

There was a leak of DAI achievements with exclusive MP achievements. Is that the case?

· There will be no exclusive MP achievements. Achievements are one way to keep players engaged, but with Dragon Age multiplayer, we have other ways to improve engagement. We will have a full challenge system implemented at launch, letting you pursue and track dozens of different challenges. Completing a challenge may also give you a reward. The challenge system will also be used to implement weekly operations. Every week, we will launch a new operation. Complete the operation, and you will receive a reward.

Available classes include:
Necromancer
Keeper
Alchemist
Elementalist
Archer
Assassin
Katari
Legionnaire
Reaver

And 3 more unidentified classes, possibly Templar, Arcane Warrior and something else.

Sounds like they'll have MP up for convention goers at PAX Prime at the MS Booth. Also they'll be showing DA Keep demos.

Schedule info here for PAX Prime, Friday, Aug 29th to Sept 1st.

"Multiplayer runs sort of parallel to the Inquisitor’s story -- you’re working for the Inquisitor, running behind-the-scenes Operations with a squad. “One of the things that came out of early explorations is that we wanted the multiplayer characters to be characters,” Laidlaw said. BioWare didn’t want templatized, boring heroes lacking personalities. “They’re kind of like mini followers, and they banter among themselves.”"

So much excited.

That's cool I guess? Has potential at least. Makes me think of the black pits add-on to the BG Enhanced addition albeit multiplayer

Read it at IGN and it seems so needless and unnecessary, but what do I know.

This was exactly my view before I played ME3s multiplayer, which was easily one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in the last few years. If it's as good as that, I'll buy the game just for it.

I hate IGN's video player. And while I'm at it, I hate GameTrailers' one too. Also, didn't expect this. I'd comment more, but video is slow >.<

Ah man, just got REALLY excited thinking it was campaign co-op since I just finished building my fiance' a PC so we could game together ... this is still good though!

Looks pretty great. Probably won't play much of it since I'm not that into multiplayer, but it looks good.

I find the reveal to be very odd. Not at a convention, just an IGN exclusive.

I really hope there's local co-op.
If you’d rather not grind, you can purchase Platinum, which is an “optional time saver” currency. “Nothing is behind a paywall,” Costa said. “We will never sell you an item.”

Like League of Legends’ business model, you’ll have to play plenty to earn enough for a prize, or you can pay outright to accelerate your unlocks.

It's just icing on the cake at this point. Even if I don't ever play the multi, it's cool that they are putting it in.

Starts out by saying it's not as similiar to the ME3 MP as we might have expected....then everything said after sounds near identical to ME3 MP.

That said, I loved ME3's multiplayer, so I'm all in. I like the idea that characters are not generic.

is this why it was delayed?

No, this has been in development for ages. When the game was announced for Fall 2013 way back in 2012, they mentioned that BioWare Montreal was also on the project, who presumably did the ground work on this.

It was also in the initial surveys that leaked.

As for the recent delay, they just wanted to make sure their bugs were as gone as possible and that they weren't in the middle of October. Five weeks isn't enough time to add a multiplayer mode.

Could be interesting, ME3's MP was surprisingly well done so this might be a good way to keep playing after completing the campaign.

Sweeeeeeeeeeettt!
I believe in Bioware's ability to make an awesome multi-player experience after what the did with ME3.

Not suprised. Peter Moore said EA don't do pure single player now. It's ok, as long as offline and single player is fine.

Sounds interesting. I'm guessing separate characters for online?

Oh I notice in the interview they also confirm the Mass Effect 3 free DLC model.

Awesome. If only EA actually did this for other games. I suppose they still sell single player DLC, but it's generally worth it.

I was positively surprised how much fun the mp of ME3 was, so bring it on! As long as it's not required to get the best ending, that is! :p

As Nirolak said, this was a badly kept secret.

Something in me was still hoping for the campaign to be playable in co-op. Side missions don't really interest me.

Wasn't Mass Effect 3's multiplayer really good? This sounds like it's in that same vein

This was exactly my view before I played ME3s multiplayer, which was easily one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had in the last few years. If it's as good as that, I'll buy the game just for it.

Yes, the mass effect 3 multiplayer wasn't bad. But it felt unnecessarily and needless. What I mean is the way the try to shove it until your face by trying the ending of the game to it.

It might turn out well, maybe. It certainly wont get in my way, at least, hopefully.
