Still no SMT 4 news for EU

Possible explanations

- Nintendo is publishing and they're translating it to the other 4 EFIGS languages
- Nintendo is publishing it but with the acquisition by SEGA the deal had to be reworked (which doesn't explain EO:U but Nintendo)
- Nintendo is publishing it and they're delaying it until they can do some cross-promo with SMT x FE
- Nintendo isn't publishing it anymore because they are cunts

Nintendo never announced that they'd be publishing it. We literally have no clue who's planning (or planned) to bring this one over.

I've officially given up. Luckily I haven't beaten Nocturne, never played Strange Journey. I guess there's also Soul Hackers.

Both are terrific games, especially Strange Journey.

I imported an US 3DS once, but sold it a few months later because I was sick of being locked out of my own region and I thought "well, I can probably play this game again soon". Now I wish I hadn´t sold it. Oh well, sure as hell not importing another one.

Anyway, point being: I personally think Strange Journey is even better than SMTIV. It´s not as flashy and it looks quite a bit worse, but the atmosphere is unmatched. It´s eerie, it´s dark, it´s hard. Definitely don´t skip this if you like the series! SMTIV is fantastic as well, though, don´t get me wrong.

But yeah, region lock on the 3DS is one of the most aggravating things I personally experienced with gaming hardware. I´ve used to buy DS imports left and right, mostly US but also some japanese ones, man, what fun that used to be.

In our fucking dreams.

Yeah, that game is probably completely dead. Or maybe it comes to 3DS instead? Hahahaha. Oh boy, it´s nice to want things.

I'm really so glad I'm playing more with my Vita than my 3DS these days. Nintendo clearly don't give a f**k about its customers, so why should I ?

And their bloody zone restriction. God.

They're both great. IV is overall more fleshed out. SJ is more difficult and not as easy to break.

One will definitely have more fun with IV, and the world and characters have far more development. SJ has great potential, but ultimately doesn't develop the story nearly enough. It's a side-story game, and it shows. IV deserves the numeral.

They anounced the game was coming (without even saying they would do it).
Whoever thinks they have some rights over this (Sega?) came up. Or even Atlus wanting to release it itself after being bought up by Sega, and trying to cut the deal they possibly made with NoE.

Well, as I said, most probable reason is Atlus saying "Euro-what?" (Atlus are still the ones having to do the PAL build).

It makes very little sense to announce a game where the publisher of all things wasn't finalized.

SMT IV and Bravely Default were even announced in the same ND from April 2013 and they don't mention the publisher for either. We only knew from the US ND.

Nintendo never announced that they'd be publishing it. We literally have no clue who's planning (or planned) to bring this one over.

I was almost 100% sure that NISA would be publishing it but now that they've announced EO:U instead, I don't think there are that many other options tbh.

I'd buy a new mobile phone for it and become such a microtransaction god that Atlus would release me as DLC.

I'm frustrated just like anyone about SMT IV no show, but it's sad to see Etrian Odyssey Untold talked about in a negative way out of frustration. EO games are fantastic games and I'm freaking glad we have a release date for Untold at least.

It's a disgrace, I can easily see this one slipping through the cracks and not making it over for no good reason.

The problem is Etrian Odyssey 4 was one of the most recent Atlus games to be released in the Europe region. It has been nearly a decade since the release of the last mainline Shin Megami Tensei game in Europe.

Ghostlight, ZEN United to name two of the obvious ones.

Both seem very unlikely with NISA's publishing deal for Europe. SMT IV is arguably the most prolific title among them and I don't see anyone but Nintendo themselves step in instead.

It would be really stupid if we got the Etrian Odyssey games, Soul Hackers and Devil Survivor... but not mainline SMT.

Maybe it's still coming...the second half seems to be barren and there have been no plans revealed. Although, they did take the time to show a 2015 game :(

I understand that, I'm still trying to finish the game. For a moment there though, I was scared we weren't going to get it either. It's better having one than nothing, right?

But there's no publishing deal between NISA and Atlus. NISA said they'd like to establish one, but it's still on a game-to-game base. If someone else offered Atlus a better deal, there's no reason to think that Atlus wouldn't have gone for it.

And, well, looking at the way Atlus treats the European market, a better deal might very well be the one by whoever is offering to publish the game for a penny, regardless of what it means for the release date.

No, see, we got Xenoblade early that one time so it's really the poor Americans who are getting fucked over.

To be fair, NoE was really, really good to Europe last generation. It wasn't just Xenoblade. It was also Disaster, Another Code R, The Last Window, Inazuma Eleven, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower. The first three never did come out in NA, and IE just came out in NA today. Of course, that doesn't excuse the lack of SMT4 at all, especially since it was already announced for Europe.

Man, I was almost at the point where I could tell myself that I don´t actually need SMTIV in my life again.

I guess I´ll just try to focus on how much the world map layout used to annoy me, maybe then I can forget all the fun I had with that game :/

Atlus going for Ghostlight or Zen over NISA and potentially damage both their relationship and further weaken the SMT franchise in Europe makes little sense to me. I don't rule it out but it would be a terrible decision, long-term.

It did lean a little more in PAL's favour, but it went both ways. We never got Excitebots or Kirby's Dream Collection for example while America did.

Don't forget Trauma Team, or EO2 or EO3. Though that's more down to Atlus, I guess.

The two things I am really grateful to NoE for are Another Code: R and Last Window: The Secret of Cape West.

People always forget Project Zero 2 Wii in these lists. Poor game.

Sorry Nintendo, I enjoyed a lot of what you showed at the Direct, but my 3DS isn't going in that eShop until this is announced at a minimum. Waiting to see if they can hack the region lock on newer firmwares.

Yeah. Kirby and Trauma Team were the main reasons for softmodding my Wii. Nintendo only have themselves to blame.

Nintendo just got back to me "Nintendo has no official announcement about your query at this time."

What did you ask them? If there are plans at all, or if they had a release date?

It's the same answer they gave to 'Are there still plans to bring this game to Europe'. Stupid thing to avoid commenting on.

If the game is still scheduled to come out at all, if its been cancelled or if they will get rid of the region lock so I can at least play it and Rune Factory 4

and I continue not to buy a 3DS.

Simple as that. Fuck Nintendo!

Same as you. Except the "Fuck Nintendo!" part.

SMT IV is my system seller. No SMT IV means no buy, even if there are other games that interest me. So there are two possibilities: region free firmware update or releasing the game here.

tbh I'll prefer the firmware update.

Nintendo can go suck a fuck.
Now I'll just wait for a store to have 3DS XLs on sale so I can transfer my download history from my current console and then install the region free "patch".

I've been buying used DS games I'd missed out on recently, like 999 and Strange Journey. Know what was great about the DS? Region Free. God damn backward ass company, why don't you remain stuck in the early 00s some more, see how well that ends up treating you.

Absolutely fuck Nintendo, it is because of their backwards anti-consumer policies that I can't even import it like I did with a number of DS games.

It's also why I will never get to play Rune Factory 4 unless I buy a used US system. Not buying new, they don't deserve more of my money.

I'm normally one to defend them, but this is one thing that is completely undefendable.

For the love of everything holy, would someone please come up with a region free hack for this system?

I'm not buying another 3DS just to play this game.

This coupled with Four Swords Anniversary edition only being re-released in America has made it a bad month for EU 3DS owners.
