Woah.

Just a second. There's a new Doom? I can't believe I'm learning this here. D:

I'm blind or GAF didn't go apeshit over this news.

But...yeah...I'm probably blind.

I am terrified... because while I enjoyed Doom 3, it took some time for me to be able to. I just hope that the new Doom is fast paced, and not trying to be System Shock with the RPG elements ripped out.

Watched this again without the expectation of seeing a lot of gameplay and I really enjoyed it.

It is a well done trailer, but like a few trailers I can think of lately, its not at all what I want to see when its referred to as a "gameplay" trailer. This is a scenario and character trailer, with only the barest moments of gameplay.

But again, for a character and scenario trailer, it was very well done.

Did they create that German Boom Boom cover for the game? I can't find it anywhere.
It was mentioned at the very end of the trailer

No one went too crazy because the new Doom game have been publicly known about for years now. Also, it went through development hell (obviously) and restarted dev last year.

I hope the SP is good. I can't remember the last FPS with solid SP campaign

Far Cry 3 was ok :{

I haven't played FC3 but Resistance 3 & Metro Last Light both have great single player campaigns, Halo 4 also had a solid campaign.

Back on topic the trailer was very good and I'm really excited about this game. Story sounds cool, the gunplay looks really fun and it's refreshing to see that the game has health packs...hopefully the 360 version will be decent.

Considering the game is SP only if the SP is bad the whole game will be bad :p

But yeah, there really aren't that many good single player FPSs anymore. Last year I really liked Metro: Last Light and found Shadow Warrior enjoyable even though it was flawed (boss battles that dragged on for far too long, a weak rocket launcher and some really annoying enemies were to blame), but apart from that the rest didn't really enthrall me.

2007 was really good for SP FPSs (because of Crysis and STALKER mainly for me. And even though I don't particularly like them, COD4, Halo 3 and Bioshock were also released that year and all have a decent fanbase). From there, everything went downhill.

Yeah, calling it a gameplay trailer is pushing it just a bit, but it's a very well put together, energetic, ear and eye catching trailer.

The pedigree behind this game, being a large(?) part of the team behind Escape From Butcher Bay, one of the finest singleplayer FPS campaigns of all time, is what excites me about it. Even if it turns out to be a flawed experience, I think they've earned some trust.

Damn, they definitely know how to make great trailers for this game. Despite the 15 seconds of gameplay in a so 2:50 trailer called "Gameplay trailer". Loved the previous two trailers as well.

And now I've got parts of the song stuck in my head... Boom boom.

Any Dutch retailers doing the pre-order thing?

Maaaan, it feels like I have been waiting forever for this game to be released. I've always been a huge Wolfenstein fan (having played the game in the early 90s) and I loved RTCW. While most were playing MoH AA, I stood loyally by RTCW's side. I dunno. I remember many of my friends thought I was nut for preferring RTCW over MoH AA but truth be told, I simply had more fun with its campaign. I thought it was more fleshed out and the paranormal stuff added a little bit of much needed fantasy. I suppose MoHAA had its merit for being realistic and properly action scripted at the time (D-day mission was quite something the first time you were doing it) but now that WWII and realistic shooters has been done by the thousands, I feel like RTCW did better at passing the test of time, simply for being a bit more original and diversified. I had some of my best gamer moments playing that game, especially with the multiplayer portion of the game, even though I immensely enjoyed the single player campaign.

Also, not sure many will agree with me but I quite liked the 2009 release. Loved the medallion power and the gun play from that game. Some will hate me for saying this word but it truly felt visceral. ID and Raven really nailed it. The only thing I thought that was subpar were the graphics, but for someone like me, that's a non issue; I am fine with PS1 3D haha :p

Anyway, TNO looks very promising and is my most anticipated game of 2014 :)

I REALLY like the setting. Kinda fascinating, if not exaggerated.

But yeah, Nazi's winning WW2 and taking over America. Really interesting.

The premise is certainly interesting, but I am skeptical that the Nazi's could successfully occupy the United States because of obvious geographical constraints. This game definitely is on my radar now though.

I think one of the biggest things for me, is that it's an over the top shooter that's not set in the modern day. If anything, it reminds me more of Resistance in the terms of a "what if" scenario with supernatural shit going on.

I'll put it this way too... I miss big WW2 games.

Soooo...

Currently I know jack shit about this game. I'm normally very skeptical about any reboots of long dead FPS series, but Shadow Warrior has allowed me to hope again.

Also have to say I'm really not that excited about the idea of Doom 4 coming out. Doom used to be good and still holds up today as an excellent first person SHUMP, but I really don't know if they can make this good. I haven't played Doom 3, but from what I've heard they completely ditched the open areas and multiple paths of the original game and went for far more linear levels with a few secrets branching off from the path. Personally that's not exactly what I'm looking for in any game with Doom in the title. (Also, Doom 4 has been stuck in development hell for ages and I think Carmak should really just work on the Rift full time. Stuff like that has always been what he's best at, not making guns 10% shinier.)

Well yea, in the real world it could never have been done because the Germans didn't have the resources nor logistics to do it even under the best of circumstances. But in Wolfenstein they have highly advanced technology; I'm guessing there's a time travel component to it like in 'The Savage Time' story arc from the Justice League cartoon.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Carmack's a genius, but he's an engineer/programmer and not a game designer, so the overall quality of Doom 4 is not dependant on him being at the company. I'd be more concerned about who is designing it, and the fact it's been in development hell for ages.

Metro Last Light and Shadow Warrior from last year.

Made a GIF for all the sliding and shotgun action:

Metro was ok, nothing amazing. It is a whole lot better than the usual Killzone, Battlefield campaign but nothing special like Half Life 2 or Halo.

Been so long since I played a kick ass SP FPS game.

GIF looks awesome

Haven't been too excited about this game so far, but holy shit, that .gif is super impressive. Here's hoping the gameplay turns out to be good.

Those are some pretty damn high standards to be held up to.

Metro: LL was the best FPS campaign I've played probably since... shit, any Starbreeze game pre-Syndicate.

A new Doom coming out? It better be like the classic Doom and be Thrash Metal incarnate. I have a feeling it won't live to what the classic games were.

This game looks so much fun.

Always loved the wolfenstein series.

Even enjoyed the 2009 one. (Mp was ass in that one though)

To me, Wolfenstein is one of the most under realized properties still out there. Every game since, well hell, Spear of Destiny, has mostly been merely sufficient. Sure, we had RtCW MP, but it's just that…. MP. The actual campaign was still undercooked.
2009 honestly felt like Wolf merely in name and generalities only.

I really hope Machine Games make this something special like the original two were.

I disagree with this. I thought the SP of RTCW was the best part. One of my favourite campaigns of all time. Was very stoked when I heard the New Order was SP only, just cause I wanted to see something like that again. Anyway, different strokes for different folks.

This is so awesome.

I'm going to buy this game just to see how well idTech5 engine runs.

I REALLY hope that the next Fallout and Elder Scrolls will utilize the idTech5 engine, anything but that fucking horrid piece of ancient fossilized shit GameBryo!
