But the insiders are not put on blast no matter who howls. They're banned and forgotten if anything. Unless the source comes out, we'll never know. It's really up to you. I just find it interesting how quickly some are sighing relief, or sighing relief at all this is the creator of the Uncharted series being let go, instead of wondering why IGN didn't stop Mitch from mudslinging, or why the article is still up and linked.

Without going to IGN (don't wanna give them clicks) I bet that article will be one of their most viewed this month. This is IGN not some credible actully news site, ad money is way more important than reporting what really went on.

Very interesting...

Amy Hennig just retweeted a post by Mitch Dyer. Maybe she has to keep quiet, but this is her way of backing his story up?

I mean if she was completely disgusted with his article, I doubt she would be retweeting his posts.

Don't want to speculate over it too much.

"contractually obligated not to"

What if she decides to speak out, what will they do, fire her a 2nd time?

Sorry but this is looking more like Amy was the guilty party and for me the silence proves that. Fired employees stay silent as its a great source of embarrassment and companies stay quiet unless they are totally vindictive and wish to harm any future job prospects.

Hell, a former colleague of mine was fired for embezzling over 25,000. No cops, no contact and everyone else was told to remain silent

you serious lol

But you already have

geez ppl..this is some fox news level of bs

The article clearly stated that she was "forced out" (although left this rather ambiguous term) by Druckmann and Straley. ND said Druckmann and Straley were not involved in any way. Thus she was not "forced out" by Druckmann and Straley. So all we know from IGN's original article is that she is no longer at ND. Maybe someone else forced her to leave? Sure. Maybe. Do we know that? No. Not unless Mitchy D verifies with his source that they were wrong, right, or mistaken. And isn't the reason for anonymous sources to get that information that they're not allowed to talk about? This journalism isn't merely reporting what they heard, vetted information which is now in contradiction.

Okay, we're not going to see eye to eye on this facet of the subject.

So let me ask, why does it bother you this was reported in such a way?

Vire, you know how context works?

amy hennig gettin' around dat legal loophole.

to note, other peeps are also tweeting about this. peeps like mike bithell (thomas was alone, volume), so it really is interesting that hennig is retweeting this through mitch's tweet, and during this time indeed.

if this isn't obvious i don't know what is. doing a good deed and dropping some of 'em hints while still following the contract.

hennig is indeed talented. scary.

As I said, I wouldn't read into to much, but I do find it amusing. Especially since the tweet she retweeted mentions how an industry veteran got screwed over.
Here's context from you: dozens of people that Amy Hennig follows on Twitter have been tweeting about the campaign for Boyer all day. She only retweeted one of them.
Yeah, I've seen people campaigning for Boyer all day on my twitter feed. It seems interesting she would choose Dyer's tweet over others.

Or is the first one she actually read about in her timeline.

Really, guys?

You want journalistic integrity from IGN? Those guys don't care about anything other than ad revenue.

Seriously. I rarely click on IGN, maybe 2 or 3 times a month out of curiosity and it's an ad fest. Especially annoying when trying to watch a video.

They do it all the time. The reasons you fill out your work history for the past 5-7 years on resumes is not just to see were you have worked before, but to call and ask them the reasons why you are no longer working there.

And unless you can prove that a former employer lied about your reasons for termination you have no case.

And anything a former employer says can be brought against them in a slander/libel lawsuit. So most companies stick with absolute, verifiable facts when giving out references.

Yeah.. you're over thinking it. I really doubt she retweeted him hoping that someone would pick up on that and understand that, that would mean that Dyer's got the fact and ND is lying to the masses.

She could easily just be supporting the same person that Dyer is supporting.

This is just sad, hard to believe Amy Henning isn't on ND anymore. I wish she finds a place at another great studio, pretty much any studio would benefit from having someone as talented as her.

Whatever Uncharted 4 ends up being, it will have to really impress or this will comeback and bite them. Personally I think the shortcomings of the series were pretty much all on the gameplay department. I challenge Naughty Dog to limit Nathan Drake to a Body count of 10 enemies per game, I'm sure gameplay would have to improve a lot for something like this to work.

Its a TPS and a video game. TPS = Third Person Shooter. Not point and click adventure. This is a tired arguments that needs to end. Its like complaining a FPS is all about shooting things.

Heh. Who knows when if ever we'll get the full story. But the content of the original post does nothing to dispel the notion that she was forced out. Not sure what type of weak spin that is.

Basically.

It's always weird reading euphemisms. I doubt we'll get more than that.

Who was the other director on the first Uncharted?

She is credited as the sole director and writer on Drake's Fortune. And creative director/writer on Among Thieves and Drake's Deception.

As I said in the other thread, Amy doesn't have to respond to any of this. It's not on her (she has no obligation). But if she did leave the company on good terms, I don't get why she wouldn't deny the story. If what Naughty Dog says is true, and it had nothing to do with these two individuals, then why wouldn't she back that up and say it had nothing to do with her former colleagues?

I dunno. I feel gross for speculating on this, as it's a private matter. I wish Amy the best of luck, I admire her work. But just my thoughts on this.

*shrugs*

Common sense would suggest if there really weren't any sour grapes involved, this story would have immediately been shot down with the usual canned PR fluff about pursuing other ventures, new opportunities presenting themselves, expanding creative horizons, etc... I mean come'on guys, "won't agree with the term forced out" and "X and Y weren't involved in what transpired", the invisible man playing dodge ball would be less transparent dodging. Clearly something went down, maybe not the who/what/how that IGN presented, but certainly something. The lack of critical thinking going on in much of this thread is frightening.

It could just be that she supports Brandon Boyer Cancer Treatment Relief that Mitch posted.

I do think she was fired or it was possibly a contract disagreement. I don't think it had anything to do with the other guys though.

Has anyone suggested that maybe it's Amy that feels she was "forced out" (regardless of whether or not it's true) and that the source could have either been someone 'on her side', or even Amy herself? Would explain her silence, yet Bruce and Neil could still be innocent in that regard.
