One thing I've noticed, besides the outstanding soundtrack, is that enemy design in general, from grunts to bosses, is stellar. Far superior to Dark & Demon's, and that's saying something.

In appearance yes but I feel like there are way too many "standard" humanoid bosses that just have a simple gimmick

What class is everyone picking?

cleric I guess. Although I have no idea how hard/easy it will be to come by miracles in the early game, so unless I get a lot of mileage out of that heal I might be better off going Knight.

What I'm really interested in are hexes, which means I'm going to end up needing every stat. Unless somehow there's a really great strength weapon with NO dex requirement, which is probably unlikely.

They claim it's the PS3 version, though, and both videos show PS3 controller button prompts. The PS3 beta also had some nice lighting. I haven't watched streams to compare, but could this be an Xbox issue? Anyone streaming the PS3 version?
Button prompts don't necessarily mean a whole lot, since devs can easily modify that for whichever controller they use for their demo booths running on PC's. Which was the case for other games in the past.

The PS3 beta was supposedly also running on an older build, so maybe along the way FROM decided to axe or reduce the dynamic lighting on consoles because it interfered with the framerate? At least that's what I'm hoping for, because I want it back in the PC version.

Well clubs need only 6 dex i believe. I'm going str/fai/int as well. 20str6dex.

The soft level cap seems like it's going to be way higher. The guy is nearing SL 100 and levels are still only costing a bit more than 10k souls each. Can probably plan a build with higher stats overall and compensate for the extra dump stats.

Anyone listen to the OST yet? Is it just more orchestrated whatever? Thought I read they might be going back to some trippy weird King's Field type stuff. I can dream. Or I guess just pull up KF playlists for a fantastic voyage through DS2.

Deprived first for me, the first time will be the only time it matters. Slowly working your way up the gear ladder. Don't care about wasting stats on my first playtrough.

I'm thinking either a sorcerer or a explorer. I'm also considering a deprived because
starting at soul level 1 would allow me more room to grow the character in the way I want.
After 10-12 points though he comes out with the same point total as the other classes but spread more thinly. Unless you plan to utilize every stat chances are one of the other classes will be more specialized towards what you're looking for and have fewer than 6 points in undesirable stats.

In the 5 seconds I kept one stream open for, I swear I heard the Harry Potter theme song or something.

What was the better version on DS1; 360 or PS3? Never played any console version..

360 had slightly better draw distance and fewer visible seams in geometry. I've cleared the game more than once on both consoles and it's barely different but noticeable.

You aren't going to find twitch stream of it at this point.

However, their are other streaming services out there that aren't as popular and are streaming it, if your really that interested.

Can't imagine why people are thinking the PS3 version will have the PC versions lighting, lol.

What class is everyone picking?

I'll take Explorer, because of the (one of the items you get with that class)
Pharros' Lockstone.

What I don't know though is which gift I should take.
Life Ring...is easy to understand, sure to get it at some point.
Petrified Something...don't know how many you can get in one game and how many uses/variations these have
Seed of a Tree of Giants...don't know if the burn effect is the only effect or not, so if there's something else to it, what is it, and are there more than one use for it or not?

Are you talking about the Majula theme? lol.

That song is absolutely fascinating. Mainly because it doesn't seem to fit with a Souls game at all. It's like a suspenseful movie trailer song.

Dark Souls 1 was very heavy sounding from what I remember, probably me just having a selective memory from standout tracks and other music blended into the world more

This makes me really interested to play the game and what kind of stuff is in it

I sense this thread will be dangerous to browse for the next 3 days with all those underground streams. . . Mild spoilers might accidentally leak as people try to discuss the game in a non-spoilery way.

Is there any mechanism info around? Like rolling system, breakdown of all stats and what they affect, soft caps, adpt effects etc

So I just got off the phone with them about this. I explain everything and the woman with whom I speaking pauses and doesn't sympathize with me being misled, doesn't apologize, she just asks "What's your objective here? What are you trying to accomplish?"

Motherfucker.
That sucks....I had my own issue with them a month ago....somehow i was one of the first persons who heard about the extra download pre-order gifts, but although it was up on their computer as "day one edition", no one could tell me what it was that made it any different than the BA edition which was the same price....I took a chance and just ordered it not knowing anything about it, but now after the fact it turns out to be those stupid download skin codes and BA edition is sold out. Thankfully I confirmed that I will be getting the BA edition today, I was worried I was getting a plastic box and a download code and that's it, despite that there were BA editions left a month ago when I ordered. Also thankful they will be doing a midnight "party" but today I found out it involves waiting in line for at least an hour in the middle of the night unless I line up early during the day Monday. Apparently there will be people lining up all day Monday, mostly Titanfallers I am sure. Sounds like a real fun party [roll eyes] but I will bring my phone and play games on it while I wait in line coz I dont want to wait even one sleep extra for this game. After all the shenanigans and hearing your story makes me want to get the PSN download version and cancel my preorder...but i will line up for the steel box I guess (I will get the soundtrack anyway with the PC version later.)

EMBARGO DATE HAS CHANGED FROM 9:00am PT/12:00pm EST TO 12:01am EST
Makes sense given all the midnight "parties" out there. Unfortunately the earliest I will be getting mine after lining up will be 12:30-1am pacific, more likely closer to 2 or even 3...they will be open to 4 they said unless the rush dies down before that.

Dark Souls Confessions:

I have never killed Priscilla. The second she asks me to leave I do. I don't have the heart to murder a peaceful creature in cold blood.

Yeah she says "people" there are peaceful, while holding an enormous scythe that sucks the living life blood out of us pygmy people faster than any other weapon in the game....... those bonewheels are real peaceful models of humanity....and those crow "people" can peck on my nether region if they think I am going to mercilessly exterminate them....i feel choas lava is good way for them to melt....nice.....n'slow see...dats the way to do it. Priscilla is a good conquest...make sure to get some tail before you off her though. ;) Just sayin' :p

For those that have the game. I'm trying to remember where I saw something fairly early on.
Where is the stone puzzle/wall that requires the pharro's lockstone? I remember jumping down and seeing it but I can't remember where.

Could you please describe the item you spoiler tagged? I'm still trying to pick which class I'm going to play, and that could be a deciding factor.

This video of the PS3 version shows dynamic shadows cast in the appropriate areas, apparently:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3MdOBH-jDc
Pretty sure that is an old build of the game before the changes that we have seen happened, even though the video is new. The area he slides down to at the beginning has some fundamental changes to the environment in the videos of the final build, the pillars look completely different for instance (much less detailed). I doubt the actual environment would be that different in different versions of the game, even the PC version.

Even if that really was the PS3 version, there is no way to tell if it actually looks like that in the final build of any version of the game until we actually see it. I don't expect it to look the same, not even on PC.

Me too! Exactly my thoughts.

No streams for me. Adventure and danger.

Going in totally blind and totally naked.

CAN'T WAIT.
