I'm posting this in the Wind Waker OT, the "selfies" thread, the WiiU browser thread, and the next-gen screenshot thread... because I pulled screens from all four.

A Flickr album compiling the best of Zelda screens on GAF

I apologize for the lack of attribution -- would've been exhausting cataloguing each piece -- but what we have here is a collection of nearly 200 shots (all 720p) from The Wind Waker HD, spanning three pages, making it a great way to appreciate the game's artistry. (I also included a 1080p screen capture of the "legend" at the end, as well as a piece of high-res promo art.)

I'm still adding to the album. If anyone wants to take the following shots in 720p, upload them to abload.de (to avoid compression), and PM me the links, I think they would add nicely to the collection:

  • A clear, focused, nicely centered, first-person shot for each of the stained glass portraits of the sages in the room with the Master Sword under Hyrule Castle
  • Full-color shots of Jalhalla (Earth Temple boss) and Molgera (Wind Temple boss)
  • Shots of the various forms of Puppet Ganon
Also feel free to peruse the other sets I assembled. Like TWWHD, the Tropical Freeze album consists of shots by GAF (and me!). The albums for BioShock Infinite, Dark Souls, Sleeping Dogs and Sonic Generations are 100% me.

All beautiful games. If anyone wants to contribute Wind Waker HD shots, feel free to PM me. :)

WOW, lovely compilation, if I owned the game I would've loved to help you out with your requests.

Man I wish I had a next gen console. Damn my being poor.

I am so jealous of you all.
Yeah, I'm really considering bulling through my backlog on PS3 now and trading it in towards a PS4 after I play X/X-2 HD. Will re-buy it at $199 on Black Friday, since that price is all but guaranteed now for the holidays.

From the level Blurry Flurry (6-4) -- the frozen version of the cave world from Returns. It's impossible to convey how INTENSE this level is in mere stills, but taking screens is still a good way to appreciate the artistry that blurs by at 60 fps during gameplay. Check out the Mega Squeekly from DKCR, encased in ice. It's also nice seeing the shantytown of the mole miners again, as well as the mushrooms.

From the level Jammin' Jams (5-B). Vines weave in and out of the ruins of a factory, poking through holes in the brick and broken glass windows. Rain pours where there are openings in the roof, while wooden mechanisms continue to grind fruit into jam. I really like the way this level alternates between rainy and dry spaces. :)

Woops, double post. My bad guys.

Edit: Well, what's done is done, might as well add some DK screens to it. You know start the page off nicer.

Why are people taking 720p pics of Wind Waker when it's a 1080p native game?o_O

Wii U only captures at 720p, even if a game is native 1080p. Unless we use a capture card or Nintendo provides an update to give us the option, it's all we can do for now.

God I love World 5 soooo much!

Yay, Crumble Cavern! <3

Great shots. :)

Thanks man, I feel like that level doesn't get the love it deserves sometimes, I really like cave settings in games. I see that you added some of my shots to the album, it's looking mighty fine if I do say so myself. Fantastic job on that :)

Yep, and don't think I dislike the ones I don't add -- I'm just trying to strike a certain balance that I think shows off the variety of settings and scenarios in the game, so I pick and choose screens a certain way. And on that note, I'm adding the beautiful Jelly Jamboree shot you took, which will help the level be better represented in my album. Gorgeous shot!
