Titanfall 360 version delayed to April 8th (US), 11 (EU)

Do you realize how foolish this sounds? CPUs and GPUs are physics man. A GPU/CPU combo with the power of the 360 cannot output the equivalent of a GPU/CPU combo of the XB1. It simply isn't possible.

Have you see how the XB1 version runs? Not real good. Now just imagine an outside team trying to cram that game onto much weaker hardware.

We have an example of this. Call of Duty Ghosts is shitacular on all console platforms...

The real question to ask is why no screenshots of the 360 version?

If it's not on par with the Xbone version then they've nothing to fear, but the fact their yet to show any media for the 360 version does indeed make me wonder it looks as near as damn as good as the Xbone version, and are worried their sales will be cannibalised because of it....

Most 360 owners are expecting a visual downgrade after all, so why not just show them something, to dispel the rumours....

New conspiracy:
Maybe the 360 version looks too good and they have to downgrade it so the xbox one version looks better.

Or not.

Online games are always more difficult to pass cert. Depending on the dev team and QA team's skills, it can take a couple of submission.
That's makes sense, good to know rejection in cert isn't as uncommon as I thought.

I'm not expecting BluePoint to be magical with their port, but I do hope it turns out well.

I'm hearing 720p with 30 FPS. Which would be a significant downgrade.

I really don't know what to expect in regards to framerate. After playing the Xbox One version all weekend, I can't believe there's any way they could get it running at 60fps on 360 without making it look reeeeeeally shitty... But the idea of the guys who pushed sub-HD, 60fps for their COD games going with 720p, 30fps seems strange too.

Oh no, your probably right. Nothing can be done within the time frame of +300 hours.
I mean it's not like they've got an engine at their disposal to speed up development.

So your argument is the employees will stay and be developing the game 24/7 for the next 2 weeks without rest and they have a game engine.

Come on now.

I was looking to get it on 360, but now forget it. They haven't shown anything on it which means it's probably not that good. Not going to get a xBone for it either.

So, it's already out for the brand new system, but for the console with an easier development environment, that people have lots of experience with, is continually delayed?

Oh and I guess when people put up reasonable theories you don't like, if in doubt just throw out the "tinfoil hat" insult. That really stimulates mature discussion.

In short, Microsoft and EA want the Xbox One version to be the focus. You say that 360 owners are expecting a downgrade, but who are those 360 owners outside of GAF, core community that are even aware of a 360 port? Maybe some have noticed it sitting in the Redbox coming soon queue, or caught it in a Titanfall spot before it pushes the "Buy Titanfall on Xbox One" messaging. But that number is probably rather small.

That doesn't mean Microsoft and EA don't want the 360 version to sell at all, same with PC that I'm sure is selling fairly well. They do. But for Microsoft they have more at stake with their new hardware being involved. Most of their marketing energy is aimed at getting this console 'exclusive' to sell Xbox One units.

It's doubtful that Titanfall will look anywhere near the Xbox One version, so screenshots aren't going to help. Not sure where this hope that it isn't is coming from.

I disagree, 2 weeks is a lot of time for people to see advertising / friends playing it for them to want to get it as soon as possible. This is very strategic of MS but I don't think anyone was surprised by it. Look at the other comments in this thread.

I don't think comments in this thread and this forum are a particularly good indicator towards anything.

This makes no sense to me. They're so close to release and that's such a short delay the game has got to be playable already and I struggle to beleive they could just release and then have this work as a patch. What can they majorly affect with another week or two?

If the game's unfit for playing then that's far from enough time - that's final little bits of polish time at best and could easily come as a post release patch.

Until the thing launches I'm finding it hard to resist the siren song of the CT folks on this one - although its also hard to imagine another two weeks would make much difference to TitanFall XB1 / TitanFall XB1 bundle sales.

Well you try and cram a game that has issues on the XB1 and the PC (unless you have absurd PC) into the 360.

That's not you "hearing about it".
Seriously though-- If you're going to make any claims of any sort about anything here, give the source immediately or risk being banned. Also NeoGAF being a "source" isn't actually a source. Just give the link to the post or you're asking for trouble. At least say you remember it from am different thread.

Two most basic rules as a fellow Junior as I understand them:

We're experiencing technical problems such as FPS drops and tearing on the One version and it runs at, what? 792p? I can't see them hitting the 60FPS mark but I misspoke. It seems the game might even be sub-720p.

No offence at all, but why are you here then?
NeoGAF, if one of the biggest, if not biggest gaming forums on the internet bringing in thousands of gamers and opinions. I would say the general consensus on these forums can be closely linked to the opinions of many 'hardcore' gamer types.

Jeff Gerstmann has heard the game looks alright, and he doesn't usually just throw shit to the wind so when I see this getting delayed of course I'm not going to think Microsoft just needs a couple more weeks to give the Xbone the month of March to sell as many bundles that they seemingly paid the pack in price for. Why would they do that? EA would never allow someone to just release a game and patch it later, that is bananas folks. crazy town I say.

The game needs a couple of weeks of polish, maybe even 30fps added on top cause of course you can fix, and play test, and pass cert with Microsoft in two weeks. And people don't start conspiracy theories. Nothing shiesty has happened at all during the roll out of this game so it really doesn't warrant it okay!

I can see that applying to MS but why would EA want to delay a game to focus on one version? If I was EA I'd want the 360 version out fast to boost sales , unless it really needs tweaking.

then how did BF4 get through?

actually it got through twice, xbone and 360

4 times actually since Sony has cert too

But anyway, it's simple:

1-Money paid by EA for the first party to ignore bugs
2-PR from 1st party who wants big launch games on their new consoles
3-Certification has its limits... They check for a very specific list of very technical issues whitin each games. Not every bad things in games is checked in cert. They are not there to review the game, they are there to make sure it's technically ok to run on the console.... Obviously in BF4's case it doesn't excuse all the crashes and stuff... but for example the lag spikes are note something that would be raised up in cert.

Regardless of the reason for the delay, I can't imagine Respawn likes what's happened:

Timed/First installment exclusivity for Xbox One, attaching to a console that's selling much less than its competitor.

Massive screen tearing, frequent sub-60 FPS, and general performance issues on the One version, less so the PC.

Xbox 360 version further delayed and has yet to be shown; on top of that we know that it will most likely run sub-hd and at 30 fps. Expected since it's the 360 version, but this doesn't look good for their 'FPS is king' image, especially if they're pushing for 'next gen'. We know it's Bluepoint porting it, but it's Respawn's game and it doesn't look good for them.

I sorta feel bad for them, even though I know a lot of people like the game.

Woah. Easy there. Wouldn't it be the same as hearing it from an article or twitter? I didn't remember the exact link but I remembered the thread the link was quoted in when asked what the source was.

I'm a jerk for doing that?

I agree with others that have said a poorly performing Titalfall 360 could sour the franchise's name forever. Think of a shit port being sold to millions of 360 owners. They may never entertain buying Titanfall 2, 3, etc in the future regardless of platform.

If only the 360 had the cloud™

Jokes aside, I hope they use the time efficiently. Maybe the xbone version should also have launched later, seeing how it suffers from technical problems.

What in the holy fuck, the game was due out in 6 days. We still literally have not even seen a screenshot of it, and as everyone's pointed out a 2 or so week delay realistically isn't going to be for improvements.

When your choices as to what's happened are between conspiracies to push the Xbox One version or the 360 version is a fucking mess, no one is a winner.

No no. You're not being a jerk. Just giving the general guidelines. "Hearing stuff" from Twitter isn't going to be reliable short a very short unofficial list of people and the list of trusted sites is nebulous. Just be careful, is all! It's a very loaded term here, is all, since there are always some people that will actually know the answers and choose to leak/not leak for their own reasons that we've no right to question.

You don't fix anything in two weeks. The move is obviously done solely to give more time to push the Xbone version.

you can fix quite a bit in two weeks, especially if there memory leaks or bugs breaking the game. the discs are likely pressed and whatever is being worked on now will be in the day one patch.

But that's it. It doesn't look that demanding of a game past anything latter 7th gen. I see the Xbox One version and it doesn't look "next gen". A few others here have mentioned that in this thread.

I thought this went gold already? Hrm.

Probably just to fine tune.

OR it's to prove That Damn Dodd wrong! First CBOAT then Dodd, no insider or game is safe! :-P

i feel like EA is actually getting the raw end of the stick too.

Its not the graphics its the amount of action going on in the background and the speed at which you move. A lot of processing power is needed. If you actually play the game you will see it. Check out the threads on here describing people's PC setups and any tearing issues the game has on the XBO. If you really think the 360 can handle that you are just delusional.

Its really not that hard to understand. Mort heard sub 30fps and sub 720p.
