Titanfall 360 version delayed to April 8th (US), 11 (EU)

Why? By ensuring the biggest format release (360) is up to scratch?

Well that's also ignoring that they're treating the biggest format as a stealth release. If MS and EA wanted the 360 version to sell to its full potential, they would have made sure it wasn't delayed, or better yet release same day as Xbone.

Look at Battlefield 4, EA is no stranger to releasing an event game before it's done solely to make a date.

How long, really, could the 360 version be taking? I think this is just a hit of fluff to sell more XB1. At this point there is no reason to believe otherwise. No solid numbers from EA or MS makes it a plausible stance. They are probably waiting until the number is extremely above what we all *know* so they can call it some type of historical success.

Let's try this again:

Logical reasons that a two week delay for TitanFall has nothing to do with pushing Xbox Ones:

(1) EA delayed Garden Warfare very close to its original release and within a shorter time frame (a one week delay, was it?). This suggests EA wants to avoid any mishaps of online play after the BF4 issues. They need to gain goodwill, not continue to lose it.

(2) If Microsoft wanted to push Xbox Ones then they would have originally announced a 4 week delay (until after March) instead of a 2 week delay, and then another 2 week delay. For people who say that this is actually a 4 week delay which would potentially cause people to buy Xbox Ones - this is not the case. They essentially reset the clock by announcing two different two week delays. That doesn't seem as long for people as an original 4 week delay would have been.

(3) Certification issues and/or optimization improvements

(4) I seriously doubt Microsoft has much say on when EA can release the game they (EA) have publishing rights for. Microsoft paid money for Xbox exclusivity. If they were worried that the 360 version would take away from Xbox One sales then why didn't Microsoft just make a deal with EA to make TitanFall a next gen only game?

(5) If Microsoft did not want people to even consider the 360 version until it was released then that version would not be advertised on the 360 dash!

Logical(?) reason(s) that the 2 WEEK delay was to push more One units:

(1) Microsoft is evil and other reasons!

So it's Sony's fault CS:GO still isn't out in Europe on PSN?

I really don't follow the logic of blaming MS for this delay.

No of course not, on Sony Platforms if things not go as plan then it's lazy and incompetent third party developer but on Microsoft Xbox it's Microsoft being evil again and out to destroy gaming. Drive Club delay is because Sony want to make sure game is good, Titanfall delay is because Microsoft have evil plan to sell more Xbone.

anyone still think titanfall will sell 5m+? i dont. they needed the x360 version to be a hit to reach close to that amount but the marketing and delays are killing its potential on x360

Neither do I, but comparing a game Sony gave zero marketing to to.. Well, Titanfall, is a bad conparison

But ya I think it's more that EA doesn't want another BF4, so they're making sure everything is locked down and whatnot. Nothing too nutty.

Hells no! Sorry but the game is in its first edition, isn't that well known yet and selling a lot lower than that (1 million) seems fair. Games that are on current gen systems don't even sell that deep with 80 million sales.

The most logical explanation seems to be the need for stability fixes, the 360 version may be suffering from some technical bugs. I'm not going to count out conspiracy theorists, but considering the game probably hasn't gone gold yet, I'm not sure how much weight there is behind that option.

LOL, this conspiracy stuff is just silly. No thought behind it levels of silly. There are plenty of reasons to believe otherwise.

People aren't going to go out in droves and spend $500 because they have to wait on the 360 version.

Both the PC and X1 versions have first time bugs and the need for patches to smooth some things out. One could argue even those weren't quite ready for prime time.

Getting it running well on the 360 is probably the entire reason for delaying it. ESPECIALLY when you have to delay it TWICE.

One delay around launch and I might give the conspiracy idea a second thought....two delays and mentions of trying to hit 30fps with the system means that it's probably just performance issues.

It's like you WANT this to be some kind of sneaky wrongdoing.

I wonder if we'll be seeing stability fixes across all platforms around the date the 360 releases. It'd be nice if we could stop hearing about screen tearing and fps drops on Xbox One and whatnot.

That's my tinfoil hat theory. MS/EA/Respawn would like the XB1/360 comparison screens and videos to paint the XB1 version in the best possible light.

There could be bugs but for a game like this, I'm not buying that the bugs are sooooooooooo bad they need to delay it. Then again I'm not a game designer so I can't make those assumptions but can only speak from my perspective.

LOL, this conspiracy stuff is just sad. No thought behind it levels of sad. There are plenty of reasons to believe otherwise.

Oh fucking please. The XB1 version still needs some time in development, that didn't stop them from releasing it. I have the game. If I wanted wrong doing, I wouldn't have brought it or the system to go along with it. But the excuses are pilling up. What could of really caused it, from back when the release date was know all the way to now, could have them delay it twice? If the 360 ends up being better performance wise, than the XB1 version, you guys may have a point but if it still ends up being worst... Then what will be the excuse then? Not enough time to bake. Give me a break.

NPS March won't be that good for Titanfall after all... I think this will kill half of the sales... NPD April will increased at the same proportion.

Seems like Titanfall on Xbone is not selling like the expectations... maybe it won't sell 1 million in Xbone in the first month.

BTW two week is not enough to fix big bugs... maybe some little performance improvements.

I dont think its strictly because they want comparisons to look good. The game on Xbox One needed some more time, I assume PC could use some optimization too, and they are delaying it simply because all versions need some work.

Definitely so they can sell a few more Xbones. It's not like the game is in danger of releasing on other consoles first, so it hurts EA exactly none to delay it. Whoever will buy it on 360 will buy it when it releases.

Delaying the 360 version even more is just as likely to make people forget or no longer care it exists, and thus sell less.

I have to believe there is a solid reason for the delay that isn't MS-conspiracy related.

Have they showed any screenshots or video of the 360 version? I dont recall having seen anything about the 360 version

Yikes. At first I was expecting the delays were because the 360 version was on par with the One version.

Now I am kinda thinking it will be a hot mess.

The game will feature the same 6v6 gameplay, maps, modes, weapons and Burn Cards as the Xbox One and PC versions of the game.

At least they're still pushing this, that it is still the same as TFOne. People on GAF seem to trust Bluepoint, so I do also. I'm willing to wait longer if it means they can try and push the res or framerate up. Hopefully if it isn't in at launch, they add Custom Games support quickly too.

If this wasn't a certification issue, we wouldn't be getting another release date for 2 weeks later. It more than likely failed certification twice, and MS and/or EA weren't willing to delay the Xbox One version just for release date parity.

More like cue the apologists. MS really hasn't changed, they'll stop at nothing to fuck their userbase.

Are you for real? Now MS delaying games is going to be like this for some of you? Wow. It's not possible at all that the 360 version is having troubles so like Drive Club, like Watchdogs, like Kinect Sports and many other games.. it's getting delayed to make it better.

This is hilarious. People bitch about games coming out unfinished these days and they patch to make them work, and here's a game that is delaying to make it better and it's about MS "fucking their userbase"

Get over the MS hate. If you're not part of the userbase, why even worry about such a phantom thing. I just got civilzation for free on my 360. Far from fucked over from MS on my 360. I guess it's cute to see people worry about 360 users though now. I know nobody is caring about Wii or PS3 people.

To be totally honest its earlier than I expected. I was always under the assumption it was coming out at the end or April. Thinking along the lines that Microsoft wanted the Xbone version to sell more units. Hopefully they did the 360 version justice since that's where I'm going to get it.

It's not like then selling more XB1's are a bad thing.. It just feels like they are forcing themselves to cater to a platform they really don't want to support any more. They already cockblocked a whole user base for this game, so why not just cut the cord on the one they know they don't need more sales from.

Why wasn't the Xbone version delayed as well to "make it better"? There are framerate issues and the devs are already talking about bumping the res. You'd have a stronger case if the Xbone version did not ship on time and with issues.

Delaying it because of XBox One sales again wouldn't make much sense.

Releasing it in March allows Microsoft an easy way to say that Titanfall was the Best Selling game of the month. I'm not sure it'll get there without the 360 numbers.

This is a completely different situation. No other company came out with half of the game on one platform and delayed it on another. The entire games we haven't touched, been able to review, or even remotely played to bitch about is delayed.

This examples are realistically to make the game better before they hit retail entirely.

Delayed yet again, and no vids/screens either.

Yeah, last gen gamers basically have to go in blind now because publishers have no interest in being up front and honest. Not a good look in my opinion and I sure as hell wouldn't buy a game where I can't so much as see a single screenshot.

I've experienced barely any issues with the Xbox One version and you're telling me that the Xbox 360 version isn't more likely to have even more issues than the Xbox One version, perhaps even making the 360 version unplayable at times? If the Xbox One version is having any issues, imagine what issues the 360 version might have. Also, did the 360 version have a public beta? No. The Xbox One version did (and Respawn found at least 5 major issues with it and fixed them by the release).

you can't do anything significant in 2 weeks

heck the game might already be gold by now

14 days x 18 crunch hours = 252hrs x the size of the group? is it 70 developers or is that Respawn's team? in any case, lets assume 70, that's 17,640 man hours. A lot can be done in that time, especially if you're almost there. It could make the difference between a broken launch or a game that's tested and ready for day one.
