:O

That is really odd, has Facebook shown interest for gaming before? Are they going to gut out Oculus technology for their own crappy social things? Wat?

...And Facebook will do nothing with it but gimmicky, novel bullshit while running the brand and tech into the ground.

Fucking lol

Well, on the one hand I get to say "haha, $2 billion" to all the people calling VR a "gimmick".

On the other hand, I feared this would happen ever since Brendan Iribe got announced as Oculus CEO. Building up new tech and then selling it as soon as viable is his MO.

On the third hand FUCK. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

FUCK

Congratulations to the guys at Oculus. No one in their right mind would turn down $2 billion. Wonder how much Carmack will get of the pie.

Ah, the meltdowns will be hilarious. I don't have any real thoughts on this, there will be many more VR stuff in the future anyways. Made sense from a business perspective.

Please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax, please be a hoax...

Holy fuck this is real.

Welp, I'm sad now.

OK, let's hope Morpheus or any of the other contenders deliver. No way in hell will I be using what is now sure to be a spying apparatus.

If any of this is actually true.

This seems like terrible news. I hope it doesn't derail VR entirely.

Also, John Carmack is now a Facebook employee.

The question is whether Facebook will just let Oculus does its thing, or force them to create some sort of social networking second world VR thingy, or remote sex thing.

Oh man, just imagine all the advertisement billboards plastered all over VR space in Star Citizen. Maybe even playing a racing game where you can make a pitstop into a VR McDonalds and eat a VR McMuffin!

I am f'in excited about this myself. Endless potential.

Oh man. I can only dream that this won't influence the small group of dedicated perfectionists. The amount of available money and resources could open up plenty of possibilities though.

I mean it's good that it's getting a hefty load of money and support that will really help to speed up it's development.

On the other hand though...Facebook.

I don't blame them selling at that price. I assumed they would either sell or go out of business from competition sooner or later, but Facebook?
