The Elder Scrolls Online |OT| of THE MOST HYPED GAME EVER

Well... I jumped the gun and bought the game. Between this and Diablo 3 my free time is completely covered ( and then some ). I'll ask for a guild invite ( EU ) once I have downloaded the game.

Anyone else find that the access codes take a really long time to come through on email?

Edit: Incidentally, Nuuvem have put their keys up if you've pre-ordered from there. May still be the cheapest place to buy the imperial edition if you're in Europe (£39ish depending on conversion rate).

Whoa, the more I play this game, the better it gets. So not only are there dungeons, quest hubs, campfires (bosses), and treasure maps that reward exploration.

But there are triggered bosses it seems? I was wandering around Grahtwood to turn in a quest when 3 skeletons spawned from a portal near me. I killed them and then a giant skeleton spawned, clearly a boss. He had a mechanic where he summons 3 kamikaze skeletons, so I had to kite him a lot. Nearly died, but he dropped an awesome axe. It also dropped a blue staff.

This boss was not marked on my map and not part of any quests.

Pretty fucking cool.

So I wont be on until a bit later today so if anyone wants to join the EU guild you can either send me a mail @astraer and ill invite when I get back or you can try to whisper the following:

@astraer
@chronostear
@chrill
@Nerhtal
@Zaphyr

Done for the night. Crazy how I've gotten immersed in this game and I'm only level 18.... I've been playing for a long time, lol.

I sit down to play for an hour or two am just compelled to seek out more quests and follow the story. End up playing for 4-5 hours instead. The only other MMO that made me do that is SWTOR.

I'm on the EU server, but I'm part of the Daggerfall Club (or what it's called). Do I need to be part of the Aldmeri Dominion to join the guild?

Dropping the draw distance to 40 or so seems to have smoothed things out a little. I drop to 40-45 at times which is better than the 20-30 I was dropping to earlier.
Shame it seems so laggy though. Curse of being Australian, or just the servers shitting the bed I am not sure.

You can join the guild for chat purposes but you can't group with other factions or do pvp with them.

starting to think the slot system is really limited. if you could use the second set of weapons for spells without them dispelling (like armors or summons) it would be better, but as it stands, between class and weapon spells, 5 slots isnt nearly enough

its a shame, and I can see it being something that turns me off the game sooner rather than later

I'm only a few hours in but it's surprisingly decent.

It does mostly feel like an Elder Scrolls game, though a lesser one. The graphics are a mixed bag. The art direction is fine, it has a very generic but well done fantasy style, similar to the other games in the series (though Skyrim surpassed the others) and it seems like they moved away from the overly stylized look the game had when they announced it.

I really want a better view distance, as the game fogs out the landscape way too close, and at least for Daggerfall, I'd like more variation in colors when you're outside. Daggerfall seems to be set in a perpetual sunset that is not pleasing to the eyes.

Daggerfall Covenant is blue
Aldmeri Dominion is yellow (EU Guild)
Ebonheart Pact is red (NA Guild)

Edit: This game is dangerous if you have game-OCD. Looting all the containers in the tutorial area is not for the feint of heart!

well my characters are blue and red so guess im not joining the euro guild as I cba to make a new one from scratch :/ what a horrible system, oh well

Been playing for 3 days and i'm only level 8 or maybe its 9, not sure :D
Haha, it's great really. I don't feel bad about it being a sub MMO if they keep up the quality of the content in the game in subsequent patches. I doubt I'll be level cap any time soon, lol.

I actually feel the same way. I noticed it today when I unlocked the healing aura for templar. I'm playing a paladinesque tank and liked the buff, but also wanted to keep my quick heal, but there was just no room to have them both plus taunts/aoe/cc

I'll have to look at it again later, but I like most of the skills I have already.

One of the reasons im investing a lot of my skill points into passives right now, so i dont get to experience the headache of having to pick and choose what to slot for the time being. :)

You can still join for chatting. I'm in the ebonhart pact (red) but still in the guild. I read something about being able to join up to 5 guilds too.

I like the limitation and trying to figure out the best combination of 5 or so skills. It's a lot like Diablo 3 in that aspect. I haven't tried but can you quick slot spells? My only gripe would be finding a faster way to switch them in and out.

someone needs to make a mod to show all the soul shards on the map. im sorry, but I dont have the time or patience these days for exploration (nothing against people that like that)

this is nothing like diablo. in this game both the class AND the weapons have spells. a better comparison would be GW2, but in there you have slots for weapon spells AND for class spells, which makes much more sense

All the positivity in this thread really makes me want to buy it, but I think i'll wait a month or two to see what the general consensus is once all the release dust has settled. I bought TSW and SWTOR due to lots of positive impressions by people on release, only to regret both purchases after that died down. I'll keep it on my radar though.

I am a huge Elder Scrolls fan. Between Oblivion and Skyrim I have easily put 1000 hours combined in the series. Being a gamer that plays games for story above all else I also other than Star Wars The Old Republic HATE mmo's. I have two questions about ESO:

1. How does it compare to Oblivion and Skyrim regarding gameplay, story, quests?

2. Other than a small amount of quests in The Old Republic I basically played it as a single player game, rarely interacting with others. Can you play ESO the same way?

Welp, Amazon just gave me a double fisting.

Went to check shipping status. Instead, it asks me to approve a delay in the order that is for an unspecified amount of time, while they await more stock from the distributor.

Thanks for the heads up, motherfuckers. Now everyone is sold out of the collector's edition, so I either have to wait during the most crucial time for an MMO, or buy a worse version, or buy a second copy or some shit. Ugh, what the fuck man.

Or buy the digital version of the imperial edition at amazon?

So I played for about 15 minutes yesterday after finally downloading and installing the game. I passed through a gate and all of a sudden my entire screen turned a light blue color and my character disappeared. The only thing still visible was the UI. Did my character fall through the earth?

It left a bad taste in my mouth for my first impression to be honest. I'll give it one more chance tonight though. Will my character be there to be played when I log back in? Or will they be permanently stuck and I need to create a new one?

I can, yeah, but I really wanted the statue and artbook. I'm a TES fan, so having a statue of a Daedric prince would've been nice.

It also raises the question of what could happen to the stuff I already got from my 5-day early access code, like the horse or rings of mara.

Yes. That happened to me too, randomly. I quit and relogged and it was fine. It's the only major bug I've encountered so far.

how do you install these? I dont see any addon folder in the game files

You can either download the minion addon manager, or manually unzip them to:

C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\Addons

The former is preferred since it updates them for you.

Happened to me as well...I complained just to see what was going on and got 15 dollars in credit. Yay.

Decided to just use that credit for the digital imp version and when the physical box comes, give that code to my fiancee who was thinking about picking it up anyway.

Story and quests seem to be on par with the other TES offerings. I've been really impressed with it so far. The character control well, the voice acting is great. The music is very good, too. The combat feel similar to past TES games, just with abilities. I'm not a huge fan of the soft hit-box (you just have to aim in an enemy's general direction and they will get hit), but it hasn't bothered me too much. All in all, I highly recommend this to fans of the series.

Other than group quests and dungeons, I don't see any reason why you can't play it solo. I'm only level 5, so I'm by no means an expert.

The only bug I've encountered in my 10 hours or so of the game is when I fell through the floor in Vulkhel Guard. I just kept falling for a few minutes as I watched the city above me fade from view. I closed out of the game. When I logged back in, I was still falling... but this time, the city was below me. I glanced off a roof and hit the street without taking any damage. It was very strange, but it turned out just fine. I went back to the spot where I fell through the ground previously, and it did not happen a second time. I did download a small patch between the time I logged out and back in, so it's conceivable they fixed it in that time.

Other than that, the game has been very fun.

I must be stupid but its not working for me. on Minion it says the mods are installed, but in game nothing shows up in the addons menu? help :(

There's some solace in knowing I'm not alone in my abject misery, but it does suck that you guys got screwed too.

Well fuck me sideways, I should've complained more I guess. I only got $5, haha.

I might just do the same thing, fuck it. I can now easily twist the arm of my friend into finally playing it on PC with me this way.

Yeah,i am scratching my head myself. My friends and me didn't even last 1 hour before we quit out of this boring and horrendous game.

opinions... how DO they work?

How does this game run compared to a couple of closed beta tests ago? It was really sluggish for me and i would hate to buy it and it runs like crap.

I have:
i5 2500k 3.3ghz
gtx 680 2gb
16gb ram
