I've just upgraded to a 5S from a 4, what are some good graphics horse games that I can nab to marvel over?
Asphalt 8 looks nice, and it's free. Same for Real Racing 3. Infinity Blade 3 is a looker.

Personally, I'm rather partial to Assassin's Creed: Pirates. I think it's gorgeous.

I send in two people to repair as quickly as possible, then pull them out to heal and cycle in healthy crew if they couldn't finish the job.

Yep, this is how to do it.

I played one round on easy and got slaughtered. Stepped back, did the tutorial and realized all of the magnificent interface updates they'd done....and now I'm back in love with FTL.

As someone else said, this port is incredible.

Thanks!!!

Not even this weekend???

There is no god.

Well it's not exactly hard to get your hands on a copy.. Got it from the Canadian store :)

Didn't they end up coming across as whiny when Whale Trail flopped? I bought it before it was free and didn't think it was a very fun game, so I thought they were being indignant about it. I might wait for a sale on Monument Valley now knowing it's those guys again.

I don't think they were whining. They just didn't plan their budget properly and had unrealistic expectations about how much money it would make them. Whale Trail had a ridiculous budget, and they were nowhere close to breaking even until they turned it F2P.

I only fault them for releasing that shameless Johann Sebastian Joust clone that shall not be named. But after removing that app from the store, and releasing MV they are redeemed in my eyes.

Can you get IAP from the Canadian version after you switch back to your US account, tho?

Also I think I'm getting a new phone soon and it sounded like for 90 days you can't redownload stuff?

I dunno, doesn't seem CRAZY worth it to do it, considering the attendant hassles.

This is how I feel. I gave it a shot but the process was too tedious.

Playing it on PC as I eagerly await the iPad version to hit the states...

So what's a good score in Threes exactly? I've gotten 10,000 or so once. I mostly hover around a range of 3000-7000 though.

edit: from that robot stream: " Threes gives you "decks" of 12 cards as your next tiles (4 white, 4 blue, 4 red)"

Holy shit, that makes predicting the next tiles so much easier.

The new Tiny Thief levels are FAN TAS TIC !!!!

Reading the comments on TA or the AppStore from people whining they are paid is just....disheartening.

They deserve just freemium crap.

The craziest one is the guy complaining that he paid $0.99 for the game so why is the expansion more expensive. Seriously? Why are you treating a discounted price like it's the game's actual price?

Just finished Monument Valley.

Good purchase. Great art, clever puzzles. Reminded me of Swords and Sworcery. Enjoyed it all the way through and from about the halfway point and on I had a constant smile on my face (realizing what to do for The Box made me break out laughing).

That said, it is pitifully easy, and outside of a handful of puzzles it's basically "tap the switch, move to next screen." Good moments: a few of the puzzles with the yellow slidey thing, the first few a-has of the box, and the hub of the last stage. Everything else kind of washed over me. Aesthetically pleasing, but as a game, ehhh.

Definitely a cool experience. I am hoping for a follow up with more content and tougher puzzles.

I only did the first level so far and it was great. The level of effort they put in is definitely consistent with the best levels in the main game. 2$ is well worth it.

Okay so Im thinking of picking up an iPod 5th gen, 64gb. I mostly want it as a dedicated music device with all the improvements to the music browsing on iOS7, but there are also games like The World Ends With You, Knight of theOld Republic or Technika Q who are just too big to keep them on my 16gb iPhone 5 at all times. To be honest gaming is a secondary concern, but do you reckon 4s specs are going to be supported for a little longer? Most of the latest releases seem to be still supporting 4S, but for how long? Anything else against the case I might like to keep in mind? Thanks

I've just finished Monument Valley, and while it was a nice experience, I found it far too easy and short. The gameplay is really similar to Tengami, but I think I prefer Tengami over this one. The puzzles in that game are much more involved, and the game is also beautiful in its own way. It is also much longer.

Just my 2 cents

So two weeks of being at #2 (#3 due to hackers) on the overall Disco Zoo leaderboard and I have 72 pending friend requests. It was kind of funny at first, but I'm ready for the next update so I can be somewhere less visible on the leaderboard haha.

Also, I think I'm the only person not hooked on Threes. Played it a few times and it didn't grab me as much as I thought it would.

Nope, you're not. I played it for like a day then wish I hadn't bought into the hype.

I appreciated it for what it is, but it didn't grab me. It is a really well-designed game, with great visuals and music. But I simply got bored after 20 minutes. It boggles my mind to hear people played it for hours, but I guess it's just not for me.

Some info from the MV devs on Reddit
This isn't set in stone, but we'd like to have something out in around three months from now. We'd also like some of that content to be free.
We really couldn't say at this point as we haven't even had discussions as a team yet. What I can say is that we're hoping to fit some more challenging content in there.
So plans for more content, and more challenging content in the future

At the time, I seem to remember them lamenting the game not selling enough to cover the game's huge budget and it just seemed like a pity party. I think the TA article you mentioned was posted in one of the old iOS mega threads when the game went free. I skimmed the article, and it seemed a lot less entitled than I remember. But at the time, it left me with a negative impression of them since I hate when games go freemium while ruining the experience that used to be in the paid app.

I did some further research and apparently they got some backlash when they went free because they didn't give much currency to the paid players and you needed to use currency to get the game back to where it was pre-update. So that probably put them on my shit list, but looking at all this information again nearly two years later I feel kind of indifferent about it now lol. I'll probably still wait for a sale if MV is that short, though. >_>

Yeah, I have a long memory. I'm going to wait. Fool me once...

Glad they don't feel the need to go FTP this time.

Shots fired! Looking forward to playing more, even if it is short still thoroughly enjoying myself.

Well, Whale Trail was a financial failure; it's understandable why they went F2P

MV has been a huge success. I don't see why they'd consider changing it.

I got a PM from Flunkie with a code. Did you send one, too??? I don't see any other PMs!

Yes, that's why I wrote to check your PM.
But if I check my sent messages I do not see it...weird (so maybe I close the page instead of pushing send?).
Well, I'm glad you received the code nonetheless!!!

Heartstone is great, really great....but I just discovered a HUGE flaw I didn't noticed in the beginning.

It's not async.
Deal breaker for me.

(No direct friend games too, unless I'm missing something).

Hahaha, thank you for trying! I was confused when I got a pm from Flunkie after you said to check. Thought you were secretly Flunkie, or Flunkie is you! Einhorn is Finkle! Finkle is Einhorn! :p

Hearthstone PC is the same, always real time. I guess having the option of async would be nice, but I wasn't expecting it anyway.

You can play games with your friends. You add their battletag via the little friend icon on the bottom left and then there's a weapon icon next to their name. Pressing that will initiate a challenge against them.

Ah thanks!!!
I didn't find a friend list when starting a new game so got confused.

I was totally expecting async on iOS tough...was playing (and really enjoying) a game when I got a call....returned (I shut off iPad screen)....no more game (reconnect failed).
It will be even worse when they go Universal.

Seeing Monument Valley now as the top iPhone paid app and the first non free one in the top grossing chart fill me with joy.

I could use such experience every week.

Really, the games last ~5 minutes (maybe 10). It's not an async game, and better for it. If you don't have 5-10 minutes, that's rough :p

I thought it would be obvious that would happen. Why would they make your online multiplayer opponent wait for your phone call?

From memory you get 60 seconds to play your turn.

It's not that I do not have 10 minutes (game was ongoing since 20 tough, we were at the end) but sometimes you get interrupted and async is really handy.
I guess I'm just used to it so much it hurts when it isn't implemented (that's why I do not play Magic anymore too).
If it's an annoyance on iPad, it will be critical when one plays on his phone.
Tbh I thought it was a given on mobile devices...I get it could be difficult to implement in their Bnet servers because it wasn't a feature required since now, but it's not that they lack the man power.
I'm pretty sure the problem will arise when they will go universal in some months as they stated.

It does make sense but I can't imagine forcing a random opponent to wait. Will be interesting to see how they tackle the issue though for sure.

Well if there is async implemented, they wouldn't have to wait.
And you could have multiple games going on....as it is now in the vast majority of card/boardgames on iOS.

Granted...I just did 3 games in a row in less than 20 minutes. As Minsc said games are fast (I guess I'm improving)...still it is a problem.

Game is fantastic tough...I'm really liking it.

SolForge does what you want, but I find it more annoying... I'd rather just work on the games one at a time. Maybe give SolForge a shot, and see if you like it better, it's also a good CCG and free.

Eh thanks, I know Soulforge.

But I really want to play Hearthstone...is really pretty great (and their matchmaking is second to none).
Still..I would like to see async implemented (even if I concur 90 percent of the games will be real time) for any emergency (or calls, or notifications on iPhone).

The main issue is you're playing against PC players too, so it wouldn't make sense to make them wait for your turn.

Hmmmm I guess you are right, but they could freeze the game on PC too.
It's not the first time that async is implemented cross platform between PC and iOS....when it is it works flawlessly.
For random matchmaking they could just match PC people as they did since yesterday.

A big problem tough, expecially on iPhone.

I have now clue what happen in ranked games when you drop connection...but losing because you received a call will discourage competitive iPhone players for sure.
And doing nothing will have the opposite problem... (Dumb and unfair) people would just disconnect before losing.

I guess in the end it's just an (awesome) real time game...but multiplayer is not that feasible in mobile devices.
