Resident Evil 4 - Ultimate HD Edition |OT| Welcome back, stranger!

Positional audio? Sweet. Can't wait to get home and test that out. That was a big bug bear for me. I played RE4 in surround originally so this was a big minus.

Awesome patches. Now we just need the texture mod for the absolute definitive ultimate edition to become a reality.

Should we uninstall the shader fix mod? Since the new patch fixes them does it create any conflicts with the mod?

I uninstalled mine immediately, not sure if it causes any conflicts.

Haven't had a chance to play with the new patch, but the audio difference will probably be quite apparent.

I just upgraded my headphones and sound card recently, so its great timing.

Yea, but that will have to come from a modder. :(

I still have a little hope, since they said the audio fix wouldn't be implemented either iirc.
I don't really see how there are exactly two animations in the game that are so special they can't be made to run in 60 FPS.

This is speculation mentioned earlier, but it could be that those animations were mocapped and captured at 30fps, so the animation data isn't based on something like vector movement, and is instead based on the position of specific points which were recorded at 30fps.

7.1 surround support confirmed! Some of the sounds don't come from the right place yet (like footsteps) but most everything else seems to. the roaring flames near the first blind garrador I was able to get coming from all seven of my speakers one at a time as I slowly rotated around in that area.

Maybe I'm nuts but the main menu seems very stuttery in 30fps mode. The rest of the game looks just as I remember, but this just bugs me. Doesn't really effect the game at all though.

Fantastic News! Now that specular highlights and surround sound are available, I'll put down my bucks.

Holy wow, missing effects in without modding. Capcom is blowing my mind with the support for this thing, I totally expected them to drop this game on steam and make a run for it never to touch it again.

Shhh, as I said before this released, Resident Evil 5, 6, and Revelations had excellent PC ports, they had flaws at the beginning but Capcom had excellent support for all three titles and updated them to answer all major and various minor complaints. Resident Evil 4 seems to be no different, say what you will about Capcom but they do handle their PC ports pretty well.

Has anyone tried asking just exactly why the rifle animations (and Ada's crossbow, was it?) are the only ones, in particular, that can't be fixed? I'd like to know specifically instead of just the general answer they gave. If it's an issue of not being paid enough, that's one thing, and it means modders might be able to do something. If it's something like them being mocapped, that's perfectly understandable,

I'm very sad they are doing poorly financially. Technologically they are above and beyond nearly all Japanese gaming companies AND their games are fun.

I don't get the last and current gen hate. They are dumb about DLC and Mega Man, but otherwise always try new and old.

I can see the writing on the wall already, and I'm gonna be sad to see them go.

Capcom's suckage is somewhat exaggerated because they have made a lot of mistakes. But they also made Dragon's Dogma and (especially Dark Arisen version) it is one of the very best games of a generation. Also a reason why it needs a PC port so badly.

It's funny how when they do PC they're one of the finest Japanese companies about it.

Rifle and bowgun reload animation was originally created at 30 frames per second and this is by design. Unfortunately,60fps animation does not exist. As much as we'd all like to see this running in 60 fps, this requires reconstructing the entire animation sequence from scratch which is not feasible for the port.

That's their word on it.

I still don't undstand why Dragon`s Dogma does not have a PC version. Is an open world RPG with online-lite gameplay supposed to sell bad on PC?

Say what you will but I always have fun when I play a Capcom game. I see them disappearing soon. Because of Mega Man, Street Fighter DLC, a new take on Devil May Cry, and other stuff. Sad.

The company that took a risk on God Hand, Capcom Five, Dead Rising, Dragons Dogma, Street Fighter X Tekken. Sometimes they suck but usually I can't stop playing.

They know what fun is, I'm going to hate it when they're gone but it will be too late.

If 29.99 for Dark Arisen it'll top the Steam charts, GMG, etc. for awhile.

They would put out garbage like Lost Planet 2 & 3 on the PC but they would not port one of their most well received games this generation considering the limitations they have to deal with on consoles. Unbelievable.

Sorry, CAPCOM like any other company is the sum of all it's talent and those talent that brought you the games that you love have left it a long time ago. It is now merely a shell of it's former self. You wanna support talent, go get W101, the upcoming Bayonetta 2 and The Evil Within because THOSE people are the ones behind those games, not CAPCOM. Hell, there won't even be a SF this gen despite having the main key member on that studio.

I'm with you. I loved their output this generation - they were probably my favorite publisher, just like last gen. DMC4 was bland, but had a killer combat system. RE6 is tons of fun in Mercs, RE5 ranks among one of the most solid and polished action games ever made, and REvelaitons' Raid mode was great. Bionic Commando Rearmed is a god tier remake, and even the reboot had its moments. Mahvel 3 is pretty cool, and so was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. We all know how big SF4 is. I hear the Dead Risings were good too.

Their output has been fantastic, IMO, even if it doesn't reach the heights of their genius last generation.

Hey, how's the Valve output lately? Portal 2 was cool about 3 years ago.
Valve has put out nothing in years. I'm sorry Capcom has disappointed you. But at least they try with every heart they have. Damn.

Ya know? I guess they are that bad right? Worst, I guess. Hey. Let's see all their IPs be nothing. It's coming anyway.

I'm not a 'fanboy'. I just really have fun with what they make. But they're in dire straights. That's sad for a company that is really dumb, but one that also really tries.

Except by far their most popular and famous game ever, which came out last year.

I'm trying to make a case for one of the greatest gaming company ever. If you don't think so, alright. Thanks for shooting it down.

We can go back and forth all day, but you're red. And Capcom games are fun. And they're about to disappear.

Capcom dude, Capcom. Think about it.

Aside from Dota 2 and Counter Strike - both doing fantastically and pretty great respectively, this is still a dumb argument because they're doing tons of other stuff, like creating their own console competitor, a universal PC games controller, and working on virtual reality technology for the home space.

Also, the games they have been doing they constantly update. Dota2 is getting constant changes and in many ways it's not the same game it was on launch. Same with TF2 and CS.

I'm not ready to see Capcom go. Whether you are or not doesn't matter. They're going. The financials have been saying it for a couple years.

Oh wow! A new iteration of a previous game that is missing features previous games had, but dont worry we will add new features but continue to ignore the past ones!

I cant wait for the next X game of one of their franchises.

What do you mean by changing the "right hand"?
During a cutscene Leon quips "Your right hand comes off?" while there was a typo in the subtitle showing "You're right hand comes off?"

People latched on an enjoyed that and it's been in there since the original and every port since, but they just patched and corrected it.

I thought they had changed how the aiming works. That would indeed be like changing the Mona Lisa. If it's only text, then change away Capcom! :p

Yeah, I'd almost forgotten that the last game that I cared about that they put out was 3 years ago because they've still done so much since in other areas. In addition, as has been pointed out, they've done DOTA 2, their own OS, the Steam controller (which I can't wait to get my hands on), as well as things like Source Filmmaker. It's pretty crazy that people act like they haven't done anything since Portal 2.

What goal posts am I moving for wanting assassination and sprays back into the mix?

You were talking about Counter Strike GO? I thought you meant Dota.

Well either way, CS:GO added a ton of shit in the past year and was outsourced by Hidden Path Entertainment anyways.

Why did you bring up Valve? He didn't say anything about Valve.

I played further into the game with another controller and I take back what I said about the controls. Capcom really delivered on this thing.

Also, the notes that are scattered around are still so funny to me. They are always like 'The American is coming, so we locked the door. He'll never find the key in the drawer of the desk in the study of the mansion. Hail Satan.'

yeah, that's every RE game. The puzzle stuff in the series always felt kind of illusory to me.

You mean the Capcom 4 since Dead Phoenix never came out. or the Capcom 1 for people who had their hopes on those games being exclusive.

This company has always been uneven as hell. Capcom doing dumb things is nothing new, it's just that their mistakes get more expensive as development costs rise and are more exposed thanks to the internet.

Only really RE:make did a good job of justifying them, imho. The Trevor family stuff they added when they retold that story is probably the best writing in the entire series.

And that many of these notes are written and distributed during the playthrough. Leon killed my chief ? Better write a letter.
