Great opening. I'm a little iffy about the change for Daario & Jamie's new hair

I still love the casting choice for Tormund. Kristofer Hivju is a viking with that beard

Oh man, if you could get a screengrab of the Hound and Arya in the bushes when they're looking out at the bar they came across, that would be amaaaaazing.

Couldn't get quite as sharp of a grab of that, but I added it into the mix.

Skim through this thread. Now I gotta jump between here and the Arrow OT. God damn Ayra was fucking badass.

Do you know why she was smiling? It wasn't because of Needle or participating in a bloodbath.

It was because she got her pony

Look how happy she is. Sorry for the Low Quality

I think audiences will like new Daario more, but I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be. Old Daario's douchiness and appearance made him unique, now he's just got the standard Westeros beard and shaggy hair.

When old Daario was hitting on Dany it felt like he was showing off how great with women he is. New Daario seems more respectful, and his contrived bit about "strategy" as an excuse to give her flowers was pretty charming.

Damn, Jorah, no wonder you're in the friend zone, you never made a move like these other guys.

Great season opener. Dem vistas.

Ah man, that dragon looked really amazing, especially for a TV show. Looks very lifelike and believable with very detailed textures. Impressive stuff.

Actually Nikolaj is still really, really, really ridiculously good looking:

But for the character of Jaime Lannister they had to make him look a little worn down by the sheer amount of shit that he's had to deal with.
Agreed. They shouldn't have shaved him though. God damn he looks hot with that long hair and beard. He's absurd! :D

Joffrey Lannister
It's funny how everyone calls him that, a Lion, etc. It's like everyone's forgot (and I'm including the actual series characters too xD) that he's supposed to be a stag, a Baratheon. lol

That's exactly it, the old Daario had a very distinct look. New one looks very plain jane. There's really nothing that can be done about it now though, we'll just have to adjust.

I request we all take a moment to show respect to our King and Protector.

And who are you, the proud lord said
That I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat
That's all the truth I know
In a coat of gold or a coat of red
A lion still has claws
And mine are long and sharp, my lord
As long and sharp as yours

And so he spoke, and so he spoke
That lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall
With no one there to hear
Yes, now the rains weep o'er his hall
And not a soul to hear

And so he spoke, and so he spoke
That lord of Castamere
But now the rains weep o'er his hall
With no one there to hear
Yes, now the rains weep o'er his hall
And not a soul to hear

Arya and the hound are great together.
Give her a kingdom and a million ponies, she deserves it.

I love this show, glad it's back.

The new actor is like a reboot so he has to start from zero to be a douche again. They should have just gave him all of Daario's parts but named him something else. I like the idea that everyone wants Dany.

Yeah I really think they should have just named him something else. Too confusing for the general audience since the two actors look and act nothing alike.

Yeah man everyone knows the general audience doesn't have functional brains. I mean they only used the character's name like 10 times when showing him. Fuckin showrunners. Who do they think we are, Einstein?

My question is, was the smarm and douchiness what the character was intended to be displaying, or is he supposed to be presented more like the new actor is playing him? I'm wondering if maybe the first actor by his very nature presented the character in a very different light than what was intended and that is why they made the change?

I found the lack of little-finger a bit depressing :(

What about Bran/Jojen/Meera/Hodor, Theon/Ramsay, Yara Greyjoy, Varys, Roose Bolton, Balon Greyjoy, Stannis/Melisandre/Davos, Osha/Rickon, Mance Rayder?

They can't put everything and everyone in one episode.

Indeed. There's only so many plot threads an episode can follow, especially a season opener.

This episode served 3 main purposes:
- Recap the events of the last season(s), and reintroduce certain characters that have not been part of the show for a while (Alliser Thorne, Janos Slynt, Lysa Arryn, Dontos Hollard).
- Tie up the cliffhangers/loose ends from the last season (e.g. Jon Snow's fate after being shot, Jaimie's homecoming).
- Introduce some of the new characters (Oberyn Martell, Ellaria Sand and to a lesser extent the Thenns).

Littlefinger's fate (same with Stannis, etc.) isn't a pressing issue as of this moment. Their time will come.

I don't appreciate your tone. I'm simply commenting on what I've noticed with non-book readers I know in real life. If you honestly think his name was memorable with such a large cast, and considering the previous season ended last June, then I don't really know what to say.

I was going to say the same. Seems like a regular occurrence with this member.

Best CGI ever in a TV show. By far.

Is our Dany losing control over her dragons?

http://a.pomf.se/qxhkqa.webm

Her control over them was an illusion to begin with, born of her Targaryen insanity. The only time she's ever "commanded" them has been when they were threatened as well. House of the undying? They were chained up. Slave seller? Once again, being restrained. She has never been in control of them and now that they're not cute little winged lizards that is becoming clearer. They haven't gone crazy and killed her, but that's not the same as having control over them. It's kinda like a cat. They might tolerate your presence and plop down on your keyboard while you type, but that doesn't mean they'll let you tell them what to do.

I've been watching this cause my girlfriend wants me to watch it with her since she watches my shows with me. Haha. Anyway, I can't believe I'm already in Season 4 and still I'm so confused with who's who and how are everyone related. And like... I don't even know the plot anymore. Hahaha. Sorry for sounding such a total idiot. I do constantly try to understand whats going on though.

But yeah, WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING ON? Last I remember, different houses were supposed to fight for the throne (iron throne is it?) But what the hell happened to that? It seems like no one cares and they're all doing their own crap. Again, it could jsut be me not listening to the show. I tend to not listen to GoT cause gat daym, it really is kinda boring in some parts.

tl;dr. Can someone give me a link to a pic/video that details charaters and their relationship with everyone else? and maybe a video (no book spoilers) for new viewers like me? Or if theres a post in here or somewhere. Thanks!

10 hours per season is plenty for GoT, especially since each season covers about a book's worth of material. It gives a lot of space for events to build up and have impact, and have nice quiet character moments which makes us care about them so much.

Look at it against a film adaptation, most manage to fit in a book's worth of material in 2-3 hours. The only exception that comes to mind is The Hobbit which is a really short book to begin with, but is stretched and bloated into a 10-hour series.

I quite liked the ending with Arya. It was a stark contrast to the Red Wedding and it ended on a slightly positive and hopeful note, giving me hope that Arya will have a happier fate than the stark reality of the Red Wedding! Also the Hound is pretty awesome as well!

Did Tywin really disown Jamie or was he just pissed? I know Jamie said he disowned him, but it seems unlikely to me that after all those years of favoring him and doing everything he could to rescue him, as well as making that sword and considering him his heir, that Tywin really meant they were no longer family. Tywin's only other option is Tyrion, and he hates him...

Also, am I the only one that doesn't like Shae? She's not being fair to Tyrion and not very likeable at all! Poor Tyrion can't catch a break!

I can't wait to see what happens to Theon, hopefully Yara and her Ironborn can rescue him, and Theon can get revenge on Ramsey!

I don't know about that. It seems more like they're getting into their unruly teenage years. "Fuck off mom, you can't tell me what to do!"

Stop watching if you're bored. This isn't a show you can switch off and not pay attention to, because you will not be able to follow it otherwise.

It's otherwise amazing, but there's no reward for those who don't pay attention to it.
