Amazing Spiderman 2 is in the upper echelon of superhero movies

The hate for ASM came mostly from fans of the MCU movies. They want this series to fail because they think it will force Sony to sell the IP back to Disney. It's all very sad.

This is a load of garbage. Do you really think even 1% of people give a fuck about this? 'Cause they don't.

I think most of the Marvel movies are pretty mediocre at best (including Avengers). I haven't watched one of the Raimi movies since Three in theaters. Amazing Spider-Man was a fucking mess of a movie. It's okay if you like it, but pretending like "most" people who don't only hate it because of stupid shit like Marvel VS Sony is absolute insanity.

Really strange such a mega budget movie coming with such a loved super hero and no OT

Not out in the States until May 2nd. Rest of the world doesn't exist.

Both are equally annoying.

This particular branch of Spider-man movies had a lot going against them before they got out of the gate, even regardless of quality. I'm not saying that there are no legitimate or valid complaints, I have some myself, but for the most part I loved the first one. I get maybe not liking it for whatever reasons but the seething hatred makes no sense.

I have a friend that refuses to watch it because he heard he takes his mask off, and didn't like Spider-man 2 just because he took his mask off. Those are some epic nerd complaints that I don't find to be valid whatsoever because those situations make sense within the context of what's happening in the scenes, but it just goes to show how god damn picky some people are.

I think Toa TAK is doing it but he's waiting until 2nd of May so PM him if you want it sooner.

Tell me about it. The absolute hate this remake gets just seems ridiculous to me.

Fans seem to be enjoying a lot more than the critics. From what I read it suffers some of the same problems as the first one, but seems to be a lot more entertaining and satisfying.

I was still holding out some hope since Spidey is my favs.

I'm going to go see it with a few friends whenever it comes out and I hope that it delivers (The Amazing Spider-Man is my favorite Spider-Man movie and one of my favorite super hero movies)

I really enjoyed ASM, so I'm happy to hear good things about the sequel. I'll wait a few weeks after the initial crowd has died down, but I'll definitely see it in theaters.

Two friends told me it was meh. Said it was the McDonalds version of Spider man whatever the hell that meant

This is superhero movie from Marvel universe. So let's be honest, it will never be anything but equivalent of fast food. It just needs to be a good fast food.

It does have an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so critics seem to be liking it as well. For comparisson Captain America Winter Soldier has 89%.

Not reading it but I have a hunch that it's more obsessive over comic details rather than actual execution, especially considering that he hasn't seen the film yet. I like him but damn, wait until the film speaks for itself, at least.

So the reviews are false?

No. They're not false. See, you have some critics that don't like it, and then you have some critics that do like it. As of right now, more critics seem to like it than not, but I'm totally sure that the critics that don't like it... don't like it.

If people don't like it for story or characterisation reasons, or even the direction they don't like it, they didn't hate it. ASM had a shit ton of literal hate even as it got announced by that very vocal 1%. Even around here threads are polluted with people who want the franchise to be sold back to Disney so SM can be involved in the MCU and those same people pop up in every single ASM related thread and whine about how SM would be awesome in the Avengers etc...

There is a lot of unwarranted hate aimed at this series, whether you choose to acknowledge where it comes from (as mentioned the MCU guys and the Raimi fans) is irrelevant because it does exist. I'm not talking about people not liking the movie, but actually hating its existence which are two different things entirely. I can fully understand not liking it people have varying tastes, but the consensus is good, RT of 73%, Top critics at 79% (odd that the TC rating is higher but explained by the MCU fanboy blogs all downrating the movie for the reasons I mention) and an audience rating of 78%. People generally liked ASM, but the amount of hate it got was completely unwarranted. For example, I don't particularly like The Avengers, but I don't hate it and I don't go into MCU threads and shit on it because I don't like it. The reverse is not true.

The best thing about this movie for me will be it's critical and commercial success. A lot of people are going to be disappointed that ASM2 is a good movie and that's a sad state of affairs.

Funny I knew about this major event but never actually read how it went down, now finding about that...
that would be one hell of a toll to carry for the rest of Peter's life and would be very ballsy to depict such a moment for one of the most popular characters in the entire world. Now it's looking like a major missed opportunity no matter how well it's executed.

EDIT: What? uh oh.

I'll spoiler the whole thing for safety:

As big as the moment is for Spider-Man...I'm surprised they went through with it. It's a 200 million dollar tentpole movie and the biggest one Sony has in their chamber; even though it's (relatively) faithful to the source material...

I'm also surprised that they didn't just go whole hog with it.

I can relate to the criticisms that Orci and Kurtzmann can get; aside from Star Trek the only script they've written that I came close to completely enjoying was Mission Impossible 3. That being said, the hate being so strong that people want to skullfuck them before even seeing the new film is kind of the problem I have with a lot of people these days. I'm right there with people in that they can be sloppy writers that just cram shit in, but I also think they're good at writing straight up entertainment.

They're hit and miss for me. When they're a hit, they're a huge hit. I loved Star Trek Into Darkness but people hated on shit that wasn't a big deal so it would give them a reason to publicly defecate on their faces, kind of like that whole underwear debacle which amounted to fuck-all.

This part has me interested:
"Once in, he finds a suit of armour and other equipment made by his father and bio-weapons found by Richard that they called "symbiotes"."

Does that mean
Venom and Carnage
are coming?

Not a movie spoiler:
Sony did announce a Venom film/spin-off

My biggest problem with the first movie was that it had too much romance in it. Someone please tell me that isn't the case with ASM2.

I thought the first one was okay. I felt it had a few missteps, like the Lizard being a pretty lame villain in every aspect and the search for Uncle Ben's killer just fizzling out instead of being resolved in any significant way. I hope this one is better.
