2013-2014 NCAA Men's Basketball |OT|

Duke's annual basketball banquet is happening right now.

Josh Hairston gets real emotional, starts crying as he thanks Tyler Thornton for being his guy

There is absolutely no way that Adam Silver doesn't send Parker and Wiggins to the Lakers and Celtics. Probably Bari to the Celtics, Wiggins to play with Kobe in LA.

And I'm dead serious about ranking Duke 25 to start the year. This will be a super young team and the players already on the roster haven't earned a thing in their college careers. UNC's my preseason pick to win the conference.

In other Duke news....

#Duke is checking out the transfer market, wooing rising sophomore big man Sean Obi (6-foot-9, 265 pounds), who is leaving Rice

Also looking at Vandy, UVA, Northwestern. Already visited Vandy. Think it's too early to handicap RT @MadDev71 Our chances?

I got grudge sucked!
The Mercer loss sucked but I have nothing but love and respect for Jabari. He's top 3, you can't stay in this day and age I guess. No super team next year but they at least have the talent to go well....but so did this year's team.

Had he come back he wouldn't have been guarding 5's every night.

Amazing how much better he would have looked on D when he doesn't have to check dudes with 3-4 inches and 20-30 pounds on him.

He was going to play the 3.

He would be guarding 3s and 2s.

I did rather let him guard 5s.

ESPN Insider had this to say about Parker's D

Amin Elhassan:

As far as defense, Parker shows good awareness on that end of the court, but he's not very comfortable or confident on the perimeter. His lateral quickness is an issue, and he doesn't seem to know how to effectively use his length and size as a cushion. He also is prone to getting blown by on defense; the same issue bedevils him on closeouts. Parker sags to the paint almost exaggeratedly when playing off the ball, which further complicates his closeouts.

Chad Ford:

However, Parker isn't a slam dunk to be an NBA superstar. He lacks elite athleticism, has some conditioning issues that worry scouts, is a bit of a "tweener" defensively and was torched on the defensive end at times during his freshman season. As big of an asset as he is on the offensive end, he could be that big of a liability on the defensive end.

Parker's ceiling may depend on how much a better conditioning program improves his lateral quickness. He has everything else.

Official statement on Hood leaving for NBA:

"Rodney had two terrific years here at Duke," coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. "He was an integral part of our team two years ago because he was such a great practice player, and this year he was one of the best players in the country. So consistent, and a great young man on and off the court. He will do really well in the NBA."

I haven't been keeping up with it that much, but it seems like anyone who was on the fence is leaving for the NBA. No Marcus Smart type surprises this year.

McRoberts: [Playing for K] wasn't the best fit for me, that's all I'll say... I probably stayed longer than I should have.

Most Duke fans would probably agree. No tears were shed the day McBob left

Is it any worse than what Lawson said about UNC (I won't even get into McCants, he just cray). McBob sucked and everyone in the locker room hated his guts.

Marcus Lee announced he is returning which means worst case scenario, UK will have 4 NBA level bigs next year.

Our frontline will be nuts next year. Was watching the Jordan Brand game earlier and Karl Towns and Trey Lyles continue to look good. Lyles had like 18 points and by the end of next year I think Karl Towns will be the best big in the class. Has the widest skillset and great size.

Duke recruits looked good again. Okafor had like 27 points. Partially because Tyus Jones was looking specifically for him every other time down the floor :lol but they played well. Duke and UK classes are quite a distance ahead of any others this year I think,

Towns is almost certainly the most skilled overall.

The only question mark about him is if he will adapt to the physicality of the game right away or if he will want to hang around on the perimeter too much. He has it all in terms of ball skills, passing, shooting, post moves. Just a matter of putting them to use to win games. He may not be the most bouncy player ever, but his athleticism is certainly 99th percentile for guys who are 7'1"

Very happy to see that Kam Chatman measured in at 6'8. We're going to have a bit more length at the 4 going forward. His handles were also pretty impressive.

Coveted 2* Muhammad Ali Abdur-Rahkman has committed to Michigan.

6'4 SG. Seems to have nice handles/passing/defense. Not so great a shooter/finisher ATM.

Johnny Dawkins son was also on campus at the same time but MAAR seems to have beaten him to the punch.

Was Jon Horford any good? Looks like he might be transferring here.

He can be a serviceable back up. Good size. Decent athlete. Always hustles. He's shown some ability to score with his back to the basket but very rarely got the chance. If you guys run a lot of pick and roll that is something he'd be very used to. Negatives? He's pretty high strung and hyper active so he can be mistake prone at times. Tends to get out of position on defense and fouls a bit too much.

Yeah, our offense is completely based off the pick n roll, so I'm hoping he can provide some good minutes.

I'm excited to see AAC basketball grow. Good foundation now even with UL gone but there will be some programs rising up in the near future I think.

I know nothing from nothing, but he's 6'9" 265, and from the pic he posted with Jabari, looks to be mostly muscle. He could be a good presence at the 4. He had a pretty good field goal percentage, too, but obviously I've seen no game film, so who knows if he has range, touch, or if it was all dunks and put-backs.
