Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Ryse looks so good. Really great to see a CryEngine 3 Crytek game that isn't totally all over the place in art direction. Easier to paint with history than science fiction, but still, it's so much more consistent than the Crysis series. And the tech implemented does a great job of presenting each scene and hiding any blemishes. Love the reflections, baked or not, and love the bokeh DOF. The plumage on the helmet is also a stand out. Looks thick and has a believable shadow casting effect, avoiding that weird obviously layered look and instead like it actually has depth.

Both Mario and DK both show up pretty average in screens, in my opinion, sans for the odd set piece. It's probably due to the animations, which I think in Tropical Freeze's case give the game an great sense of life and character, and you just can't capture that in stills. Both remind me a lot of last gen games; better in motion than in stills.

Nintendoland, on the other hand, looks great in stills. Really cohesive and varied art direction. ZombiU too looks awesome in stills, even if Ubisoft filtered the game to hell and back to hide its technical limitations. Might need to play through that one again.

For that second DCU screen, I made the HUD as opaque as I could, but that's the lowest you can get. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be an option to hide the HUD completely. Not like it's a looker anyway.

it's still the best looking console game for me. by far, too.
and the dlc each time manages to bring some even better looking stuff.
BUT they kind of fucked up the history part too. I see my ancestors at 80A.D. being portrayed as ...beast savages wearing animal heads and skins. :D :D :D
them <<GREEK LEADERS>> = goatmen for crytek lol
next time pass the history book from artist to scripter too please :)

And now, here are some screens of the most anticipated game of 2014, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 PS4 to wash the funk of those horrible Child of Light screens out of your mouths:

The closeups of Spidey look decent, but that second shot looks straight up like a last gen game. Does this look better in motion?

Eh.

It does look a little sharper on my television, running on the hardware, than it does in these screens, but it's not a good-looking game. Spidey's character model looks rather nice, but everything else is, exactly as you say, last gen. Activision only reaches for the lowest bar when it comes to everything that's not Call of Duty, and even then, I find CoD to be sorely behind other titles in its genre.

The game is enjoyable so far, but I'd love to see what a talented developer with time and a budget on their side could do with Spider-Man.
