PlayStation Blog Hands-on with Borderlands 2 PS Vita

The only thing that worries me about the controls is melee being on the back touch. The other three things, like skill activations, being on touch will be fine. Hopefully putting melee on triangle and exclusively using the dpad to change weapons instead will work fine.

Also they used three qualifiers when talking about the game being 30 fps, THREE! That's worrying.

I'm interested. Played it on PC, but I'll be happy to play through it again while lying in bed as long as it runs decently.

For some reason it's impossible to see a bigger version of what seems to be the best looking screenshot without a Yahoo account

EDIT:
same for the others lol

I have a Flickr/Yahoo account and I can't see them either. SCEA probably didn't make them public.

i'm only getting this because it is paired with the slim bundle. i didn't care for borderlands on console, i doubt i'll think much else of it on handheld.

I never bothered to try this on my 360, looks fun (would play Mechromancer i assume) so this adds a little bit of value to the Vita bundle as I consider it.

This isn't out yet? There were like 3 copies of it at Target yesterday, just kind of stacked on a side shelf. Not exactly the most prominenant place for a new release.

Slow down here, what Target? I'm pretty tempted to go check the closest one to me because they pull this all the time. The Dream Team 3DS bundle was on the shelf before it was even officially announced because no one in that department seems to care.

Edit: And is anyone actually selling codes anywhere yet, or just offering them for when they receive their bundle in a few days?

I am excited for this port but the playercount downgrade deflates my hype a lot. If the decision was made so late in the development they probably couldn't make it work for the release date. Hope they will still try patching 4 player coop in.

I got Borderlands 2 free with PS+, but only put in about half an hour of it, because I just don't have much time to play games at home. I'll probably bite the bullet and pick this up next week. I'm not against taking a chance on a game that interests me, but I'm not 100% sure of its quality.

It just strikes me as a mismatch. Borderlands is best played co-operatively, but using 3G to play online will be laggy and use up all of your data, and playing on wifi defeats the point of an on-the-go gaming machine.

I only played Borderlands single player unless I was trophy hunting. I actually prefer it solo so this is right up my alley if performance isn't an issue.

I will be remapping the touchpad controls to the dpad. To switch weapons I always just use triangle(cycle weapon) so that frees up the dpad.

Action skill on left dpad, grenade on right dpad.

I still gotta figure out how I'm gonna work in melee and sprint, as both might be awkward with the dpad.

Grenade and skill activation being on front touch would probably be fine if you left them there. It's really not much different then any other button press.

Then stick sprint on down on the dpad and melee on right?

Cross save is probably the main reason that im getting it. So I can take some Borderlands that I already started with me on the train, to and from work :)

the game may be a crappy port, but it's still a good bundle for anyone that's trying to get a vita. however, i'll have to pass on this one.

I also have a 65" at home, but I don't browse gaf on it because it's the bottom feeding haunt of the interwebs

I don't get it. You obviously browse GAF since you posted in this thread, but what? You don't browse it on your 65" computer monitor because you think its "bottom feeding" status will somehow damage your display technology? :p

Just hearing about these recent impressions. I'm sorry, but some of this sounds kind of bad, lol. Strikes me as more of a novelty than a legitimate way to play. Of course I speak as someone who already beat it 2 years ago, but I was still semi-excited about possibly going for a platinum on vita.

Pre-ordered the other day. I do love me some Borderlands, and the cross-save feature just sold me.

Is there any news on the DLC though? Will it be on the Vita cart, or separate PSN codes? How big will it be?

Spare space on my Vita memory cards is a valuable commodity, I'd be a bit hacked off if I had to delete half my games just to plonk a bunch of DLC on them. Although if they were scaled down compared to the PS3 versions, I would be tempted to pick up a cheap 4gb card solely to support this.

I browse on my bottom feeding Galaxy S4. I only browse Gamefaqs on my glorious big screen

Not excited for this at all. People go on and on about it like it's going to save the system or something.

I'm a happy Vita owner and there's so much I'd rather play on the system than Borderlands 2.

Agreed. This was their big e3 announcement for the system and so many people were happy and I was just like really? I mean this right here is one of the problems with the Vita. Its biggest news at e3 was just another port.

Too bad we aren't getting Diablo 3 or Torchlight 2 or something. Or a localization of PSO2. I'd love to have some multiplayer loot action.

I would love any of those two too, and since they are really resource-friendly, both can run on almost anything, I bet if someone spent some time on it they could make a nice, rock-solid framerate port.
