Iwata: "We know how to get people hooked" means you struck gold with the Wii and DS but haven't been able to do it since.

The colors look like Royal Raceway in MK8.
MK8's N64 Royal Raceway does not have an orange sky at all.

i dont think any of those games really matter. They are just placeholders anyway.

This is all nice and all but it's seriously worrying that there is no release window for Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright in NA.

Iwata- developers will move into new building in Kyoto around E3, currently teams are separate so will share more

Of course they do, and that's what their bankroll is for. Right now there is a thread about a blog on Time, about them not being able to 'save' the Wii U, and thus they maybe need to move on to the next system. This says it no longer needs to be saved, that they can continue to put games on it, and Iwata is even going even further by saying they aren't just going to dump the Wii U.

This is why many people have been on the fence about getting the system. Now that Nintendo is saying they have confidence in the system, and they aren't going to dump it like the Virtual Boy, shouldn't we talk about that?

None of this means they aren't troubled in a larger sense, which is what the "doomed" meme comes from. It doesn't extend to just a single system.

And what they say publicly doesn't mean anything; look at their output to see what their real commitment looks like.

He's saying much what I commented on in another thread. Their thinking behind the whole Quality of Life product is that they have designers who are known for making really fun, addicting games. (hardware, not so much)

They want to put that philosophy into health/fitness projects without it being tied to a gaming device.

Iwata- not hopeless or at a loss in coming up with something new but unless existing users satisfied we cannot release next hardware

That should put all those "NINTENDO MUST RELEASE NEW HARDWARE NAO!!111" ridiculousness to rest. You don't kill your main system in a generation just to release a new one, just so you can "keep up" with the competition. That will destroy what faith and goodwill you have with your remaining audience.

Nintendo just needs to stick it out for a four year cycle to satisfy their existing Wii U user base and to make sure that they are happy enough to migrate to their next hardware. Nintendo needs to find a way to slow the bleeding until they can launch new hardware. The NFC figure is a decent idea to help, but they really need to find a way to improve their margins on the Wii U box. Gotta find a way to cut the tablet controller out and hit a $200 or lower price point.

I'm happy for those of you that are hyped about Nintendolanders, but stepping back and looking at what Iwata is presenting in the face of repeated heavy losses, this is all kind of depressing.

I guess I don't understand what the point of the figuring is, then? If all the data resides on the same Wii U, it should just be able to read from itself, not need to transfer to a toy. Game A, B, and C are all shown on the Wii U, and unless those are three different Wii U's, I'm not understanding the selling point

"Nintendo is emphasizing the fact that by transferring data from multiple games to your figurine, you can create a personalized figure."

That's actually REALLY cool tbh. So it's basically Skylanders but with NFC technology and with Nintendo characters. Day one!

Investor: Why the WiFitU bombed?

Iwata: FUCK YOU.

Hell yeah. No next gen home console until I get 150 metacritic 95+ games.

I'm satisfied with 3DS though. We can move on for that one.

Game C is the orange level of Octopus Dance (Nintendoland). You can see the blue-ish computer to the left and the purple octopus at the top right.

QoL a 2017 release. Hahahaha go home Iwata you're drunk. Seriously though, no more Nintendo profits, no more just one game boasting, the plan for Wii U for the rest of 2014 is two games - he's fired, right?

I think you completely misunderstood what was said.

Its just a nice feature not anything crazy. You can take your figurine with you to a friends and play.

Pokemon Wii U PLEASE!

Their output is actually pretty strong and frequent. The problem is that it´s still not enough if you have to support it alone. But the myth has to stop that their output is slow or mediocre.
