Fighting Games Weekly | May 12-18 | The Bracket Racket

I totally understand your weakness, Disco. I pray to Jesus I don't have to fight an overwhelming opponent at tournaments (online or off). All bets are off on casuals unless I have to fight somebody like Dyne in VSav lol.

Oh man Dyne, I still have nightmares about his Jedah, dude's just on an entirely different level than me.

Great read. I didn't play TvC as much as I'd like to have (being a Gatchaman fan and all) so the Baroque system was really unfamiliar to me. It wasn't until reading this that I didn't really understand what it did.

Glad to have helped.

I'm the exact opposite, I want a big name.

I'm never going to win a tournament, I'm not consistent or good enough, but I can get lucky vs someone really good, I've done it before, I'm sure I could do it again.

If I lose, I'm still a chump, If I win, I get to say I beat a big name.

That's a really interesting way of looking at things, I think I'll borrow that mentality haha.

DiscoShark has good taste.

The Wii U has the best library out of the current gen systems right now. It isn't a brick.

I'll have to agree, we can't make fun of it anymore, specially with it's 2014 lineup. I'll probably buy one myself when Smash drops out, and MK8 also looks mind blowing

True dat. It could be a lot better. I'm following the Dreamcast thread about how graphics look so crisp and colorful and it makes me miss Sega hard.

Seriously, I haven't seen an individual brick that weighs less than a pound, so it would be impossible to have a pound of multiple bricks. Therefore, feathers.

On the idea of Compendium for SF4...

Capcom is still like a decade behind in terms of online implementation of their games. They have to first build an appropriate online ecosystem for SFV then they can use the appropriate monetization.

Going from monetization as clumsy and ill-considered as Gems to the level of consideration and complexity that Valve puts into their systems seems completely insurmountable for Capcom.

I would live in a house of Gamecubes imagine how safe you'd be
Screw that, I'm building a house out of original Xboxes, that should protect me from everything (but DVD drive failures).

Saying that Capcom's network infrastructure is only a decade behind is being too kind. Quakeworld handled its online infrastructure better than Capcom's FGs, and that came out in 1997!

Hey enzo, I got banned during our discussion at the beginning of the last thread, which means I never got a chance to thank you for updating the OT.

pretty good

31 freaking days till wc and <31 days till Ultra, which reminds me....where's my goddamn release date Capcom?! Less than one month till the game's release and no word about it

Want to avatar quote so hard but I'm no hipster. I am currently living in a house made out of E.T. Atari cartridges, though.

Going to be interesting meeting Dyne at TFC.

I sorta share this mentality. I mean, sure I dread facing the top players (like that one time I could've had a chance of playing Chris G...but then they changed me to another bracket), but at the same time, if there's a chance what's the point of not playing with the best?

How is everyone on this fine Monday?

Doing final assignments.

I'd say I'm fine but that'd be a lie.

My internet for the time being is ASS. I hardly play competive games online because it's guaranteed to be a lag fest. instead I go to offline sessions if I can.

Oh I'm sure you can hit people in California offline as well.

That joke went over your head xD

Why just NYC I'm sure you can hit people all the way in California in that game

I dunno, playing you guys over on the west coast in Blazblue (I assume most people in the Blazblue OT are WC) is doable, but it's definitely a lot more comfortable playing people in the east coast.

Oooooh! Lol, nice.

I don't understand. I played a 4000 pp Dee-Jay player today who had +14000 BP with his Deejay and beat him convincingly. Another Deejay comes along who has 1000 pp and 400 BP and I lost both rounds. The struggle is real.

Who the fuck plays MK online?

That game had the worst netcode I've ever played.

I discovered that there are a ton of people out there with unbelievable lag tolerance. It kind of blows my mind cause even small lag annoys me.

And my offline scene here kind of dissipated after the meetup guy changed locations 5 times and the last location being a one hour bus ride from where I live :/

It's just means PP and BP mean nothing outside of who plays online a lot.

So you still didn't pick up KOFXIII yet
KOF wasn't worse. But it still sucked ass

last week I fought a 2k BP Ryu player, and dude's Brazilian Gandhi, did whatever he wanted, and I always lose to randomness.

Then I got to fight him again, and decided that my Yang would only do dp's. I destroyed him, he was completely lost on the second round. Best match ever
